O Lucky Man! (1973) Official Trailer - Malcolm McDowell, Helen Mirren Movie HD
This sprawling, surrealist musical serves as an allegory for the pitfalls of capitalism, as it follows the adventures of a young coffee salesman in Europe. Many actors play multiple roles, giving the film a stagy tone.

Malcolm Mcdowell is one of the best ever.
A severely underrated surrealistic masterpiece of cinema.
It was one of the very few British movies dubbed into Russian and shown in the USSR. Probably because it painted a very scary picture of life in the West. This film was indicative of the shift from the earlier moral criteria towards the demoralization in the arts of the 1970s. But for us, Soviet kids, it was a window into the free world, with some decent rock 'n' roll accompaniment to boot.
Really? You NEVER saw this movie. This is a fantastic movie, about the incredible adventures of the title "lucky man" with the transplantation of a human head into the body of the animal including one of the adventures. The title is sarcastic because "lucky man" is getting into more and more trouble. Anyway, this is not a movie about harsh life in Great Britain.
@@DzikiKlapek he wrote that he saw it.
Dziki Klapek Good lord. Why cast these stupid aspersions at him? That’s his experience. Just because it’s not what you saw in it when you watched it. What a strange reaction.
I'm a musician. At that time, how I wanted to ride the bus with the musicians and travel around the world ...
My dream has remained a dream...
@@DzikiKlapek It is critical of Capitalism.
How this film ever got made is an amazement to this day! And a number of the actors from A Clockwork Orange were featured in it!
Probably one of the most influential films I have ever seen.
One of those unique 70s oddities that made that decade so great and will never be made in this day and age
Haven't seen this for a few years (borrowed a fuzzy, crackling VHS tape from my library) but I recall its savage sense of humor. Good times.
A very influential film. I can never forget the pigman scene.
BEST... MOVIE... EVER.............
Agreed
McDowell's gotta be from the same ancestral tribe as Mick Jagger.
Celtic and/or Anglo-Saxon I'm sure.
And James Cagney.The eyes.
If you're only familiar with Malcolm McDowell because of his work in A Clockwork Orange, it's worth checking out his collaborations, with Lindsay Anderson.
Stanley Kubrick chose Malcolm McDowell for Clockwork Orange, because he saw him in Lyndsay Anderson's him If...
"if..." is great
Great music from ALAN PRICE keyboardist of THE ANIMALS (ERIC BURDON)!
Better than A Clockwork Orange. An underappreciated masterpiece in my opinion.
It's my favorite movie.
I can’t choose what I like better
@@Danielcamron73 no, you can't.
@David Andersen Mine too!
Oh Lucky Man was a very good and quite disturbing film.....remember seeing when it first came out.
Уникальный фильм...Замечательный актер...Классные песни Алана Прайса...
I love Malcolm McDowell he's the best. I've seen two of his films now: A Clockwork Orange and Caligula
I might try and watch this Malcom Mcdowell film
You saw Caligula??.....Oh, my!.....I saw it to, actually, ha.....Very freaky film...
If is the best i.m.o, though of course A Clockwork Orange is most famous and very popular.
@Tami Joeris will do
You would love him in the Amazon Prime series "Mozart in the Jungle" from a few years ago. He's terrific!
This looks like Clowwork orange 2
What do you mean?! This IS Clockwork Orange 2!!
Lol facts. What takes place after part 3 chapter 7
Actually it is the further adventures of Mick Travis, a character from Lindsay Anderson's movie If... .
Especially the part where he jumps out the window 💀
Helen Mirren 😍
Even more gorgeous now than she was 50 years ago!
Isn't McDowell that one oomny veck who tried to be me on Kubrick's version of my droog years?
Alexander the Large yes mr.delarge
Только спустя много времени я поняла, что Патрисия в исполнении Хелен Миррен - внешне почти двойник молодой Аллы Борисовны... 😮
It is an odd and surreal film and fascinating in parts.
Probably my favorite movie. Most of the themes like unregulated capitalism, military misadventures, religious hypocrisy, and police corruption are still completely relevant. Even with the ridiculous 70s clothes, there's a timelessness to the movie.
Súper actor.
Lindsay Anderson's surrealist style seems to have heavily influenced Terry Gilliam's work.
Was this the movie with some escape from an experimental hospital splicing humans onto animals or the other way around? ..never mind, just found that scene. Yep. This is the movie, only ever seen it once when i was about 7. fooooked me right up!
a one off movie gem
This is a sequel to Lindsay Anderson’s 1968 film “If”
Loose. Both characters are named Mick Travis
Kind of, but not exactly a sequel
@@renatovillatoro4746 they’re in the same trilogy of Mick Travis. This is the second one, and if.... was the first, that makes this the sequel. Even if they aren’t technically the same people.
@@ldhproductions112
the third film in the trilogy is Britannia Hospital, released in 1982.
It's more like Mick Travis in an alternate universe
On my list as my favorite #1 movie of all time. #2 Holiday (1930s) #3 Mr. Smith G to Washington #4 My beautiful Laundrette (only because Daniel Day Lewis is a gay character) #5 Citizen Kane
Holiday (1938) is excellent, and Grant saying he does the opposite of what General Motors would do (i would pick Rupert Murdoch for doing the opposite).
We share your first 2 favorites!
ФИЛЬМ - ЛЕГЕНДА !!!
Brilliant masterpiece
Lindsay Anderson a totally unique film director, and yet unto this day still neglected and under appreciated.
Not good enough
an awesome movie
Malcolm McDowell and Helen Mirren made a great looking couple, for yhe longest time i thought they married in real life.
Love that film!
j'adore cet acteur 💗
Geraldine Castillo Martinez moi aussi!
1:49 Helen Mirren!
morality replaced by force of will
I only just heard about this movie from an audio book by Henry Rollins. He said it was cool
It is!
Eu assisti na TV.
Great film
0:39 what's the name of the song??
Poor People Alan Price
O Lucky Man album with poor people
2:16 that is not a black man. Wtf
woah is right. wtf. crazy amount of racism in that one clip.
@@Snaffle Why?
@@Snaffle What the hell are you on about?
Gus HR actor in blackface...different times I guess.
It's completely intentional, same actor appears with and without blackface throughout. Other actors play multiple characters, too (including the lead actor, wearing makeup to look like a Latino in the opening scene). All to show how people can be similar even in starkly different life circumstances.
I felt like I had been cast in this today during a really freaky, risky medical procedure. It was an unreasonably terrifying experience. I will likely have to have more of these, but at least I know what to expect. I will never again be as scared of it. But yes, today I was entirely freaked out. The suspense turned out to be the objectively worst thing about it. Once you know, you can cope with anything.
Iwas in a stage version of this in 1995 - oy, don't ask!
I want to ask. Did not know they had a stage production of this movie!
Please, please tell us!
Great flick!
No, I haven’t seen this movie, but now I want to.
I heard McDowell is gonna team up with a dork named Velma soon.

"The entire population of India can be rehoused on the moon..." Would that the entire population of Earth could piss off...
Is this really a sequel to If....?
I mean, the protagonist is the same. (Same name.).
Same name, but completely different universe. Same case with Britannia Hospital, the next movie after this
@@espresso5512
Couldn't he have picked a different name? It makes things really confusing, because a lot of people think it's a trilogy because of the character's name.
The screenwriter couldn't write for Malcolm with a different name.
Isn't this the sequel to If?
¿Pueden decirme el nombre de la canción del inicio? Gracias :)
Poor people de alan price
3:25 9/11 cameo

It is seldom that I see crap actually steam in the summertime... but this manages to do it. WOW, this looks bad.
watch the movie brotendo. you might like it.
Mike Mitchell you realize this is from 1973 right?
You gotta vent your anger somewhere else, mikey boy
Sweet double chin... eunuch jelly thou
You're right, pal. It's a terrible movie. I saw it in a NYC art house years ago. Very long and completely pointless.
