@@raymcarthur3870 American? As a Brit, I'm happy to argue they were perhaps the best band ever, irrespective of nationality. So much talent. So many memorable, ageless tunes. One of the best lyrics ever in a song: I've been searching for the daughter of the devil himself I've been searching for an angel in white I've been waiting for a woman who's a little of both And I can feel her but she's nowhere in sight
I always thought this part is what other song lack - where he's looking not just for a good woman but also a fiery one. And the way it's expressed in the lyrics is just perfect.
Don Felder said that he wrote this solo thinking of what a sax player would play in that situation, and it resulted in one of my favourite guitar solos ever
Glenn Frey, who passed away, had stated that he was listening to popular R&B songs, most notably The Spinners “Could it be I’m falling in love” and Al Green’s “Let’s stay together” and even Al Wilson “Show and Tell.” (You can hear the 4 on the floor drum beat in all 4 of these songs, kind of a pick-me-up feel). Frey was from Detroit and he was into and influenced by Motown and Soul music but his voice was more suited for the Western and Country Rock sound. Don Henley’s voice was more soulful even though he was more of a Country and Rock lover. Frey was at the piano when he started playing a minor descending pattern and Henley heard it and started singing “One of these Nights.” They wanted to put a song out that was different than the country ballads. They made the attempt to put out something that would grab everyone’s attention by drawing attention to nightlife, horror themes, sexual encounters (album cover design looks like a female reproductive system), and personal pursuits using nasty guitar sounds. So it sounds very disco racing car-esque rock and soulful. A lot of Eagles fans hated the song but most people loved it.
Let’s please acknowledge the exquisite falsetto voice & master of harmonies, Randy Meisner! He was an amazing singer in his own right! God he is so underrated!
Live performances from 1977 concert are really fun to watch, it's their strongest lineup. I think that a particularly good performance from that concert was Take it to the Limit. Like others mentioned though, Eagles are notorious blockers.
Some of the greatest musicians to ever lay it down on tape. You're right with the less-is-more. They never have a wasted note, and never more than they need.
No, don't start with the obvious! They let a few pass through. You may like those stupid non official videos ,,but they usually suck, they change the tempo to faster and are distorted, not all, hehe
@@kenperk9854 if I'm not mistaken Don Felder wrote that song and took the rights to it when he left the band. If you Google the song it's hard to find any version of it on RUclips. But I agree with you it's an awesome track

Top 5 for one of my favourite eagles songs! ‘Lying eyes’ and ‘New kid in town ‘ are amazing. If you hadn’t reacted to those already lol Great reaction overall 😊
That's my favorite Eagles song, though it was an odd truncated version. It missed out the longer intro, and cut the outro fade far too short. This was the first full album that Don Felder came in for. That's him doing the beautiful guitar fills, and playing one of the greatest guitar solos ever, probably only beaten by his Hotel California solo. It's just such a tasty, perfect, solo.
Disco was influenced by this since Eagles are pre-disco. They have a lot of great songs. “Try to Love Again” and “Last Resort” are a couple of really good deeper cuts.
How in the heck did I miss this? Love me some Eagles! The Eagles were the band you bought ever album when released because every song was solid! Then, the solo stuff was fire as well.

Searching for the devil. He's cloaked in light and convinces everyone he doesn't exist. This is pretty dark stuff.
