  • "I Can't Tell You Why" is a classic rock song by the Eagles, released in 1979 as part of their album "The Long Run." It's a smooth, soulful track featuring Glenn Frey on lead vocals and guitar, with Don Henley and Timothy B. Schmit providing backing vocals. The song explores themes of love, uncertainty, and vulnerability, with lyrics that express the difficulty of explaining one's feelings. The smooth harmonies and laid-back instrumentation contribute to its timeless appeal, making it a favorite among Eagles fans.

The cool back story of this song is that the guy who sang this song was a replacement for their previous bass player. He hadn't been in the band long when of of the Eagles asked him, "So, you have any songs for us?" and he said "Umm, I'm just the bass player, the new guy. I don't think anything I've written is up to your standards". The other Eagle said "Nah, we're all Eagles and we all contribute ". So the new guy said "Well, there's one song that I think is pretty good"...and that song was I Can't Teel You Why. Beautiful music from beautiful people.

Everyone in the Eagles was a lead singer except for guitarist Don Felder. 🦅

Great Reaction! That's bass player Timothy Schimdt. He took over my favorite Eagle's place, Randy Meisner. Check out the live version of Randy and the Eagles singing "Take It To The Limit". Link Copy and Paste... Eagles - Take It To The Limit (Live 1977) (Official Video) [4K]

So glad you liked this one. I love all Eagle songs; but this one is my VERY FAVORITE of all of them! Timothy B Schmidt has a voice from heaven. And that guitar solo kills me!!!!!

  • @debrafox5576

Lead singer here and playing base is Timothy B. Schmit! Love him!!! Don Felder on electric guitar is awesome! Don Henley on drums, Glen Frey on keyboard, & Joe Walsh on guitar- sang backup- just incredible harmonies!

  • @victorjohnson7512

They all sing, the early songs like this one were very smooth. They sold millions and millions of albums in the 1970's. Joe Walsh didn't join the band until the Hotel California album.

  • @patrickbrantley9904

DON FELDER WAS THE GLUE THAT PULLED ALL THESE SONGS TOGETHER, ONE OF THE "MOST " UNDERATED GUTARIST OF ALL TIME..

  • @brendaclark8344

Singers are Don Henley, Glen Frey, Randy Meisner, Timothy B. Schimdt and Joe Walsh. Other songs are Take it Easy, Lyin' Eyes, In the Long Run, New Kid in Town, Desperado, New Kid in Town, Peaceful East Feeling and my absolute favorite Seven Bridges Road. Enjoy!

The Eagles created so many evocative hits. The soundtrack of our lives.

  • @susanbezio6708

Timothy B Schmidt is still recording solo today. He's a rare gem, love his stuff.

  • @cindydegraaff5083

All the Eagles are singers. They had a “ you write it, you sing it” policy, so the lead on this song is writer bassist Timothy Schmidt, who you usually hear singing high harmonies. Don Henley, drummer on Hotel California, sang lead on that one, but he also plays guitar and various other instruments. Glen Frey who is playing keyboards here, played guitar on hotel California, but sings lead on other songs. Joe Walsh was on guitar in Hotel California, and he’s on organ here, very rare for him. Don Felder is on guitar and he was on the double necked guitar in Hotel California, but he still sings back up.
