The JBL Partybox 300 was one of my favorite speakers of all time, and now JBL has released the sequel to that speaker, the Partybox 310.
So even though the 300 was great, it wasnt perfect, and had things that were almost deal breakers, the sound was so great that I still found myself loving it. Which is why I’m glad that with this new version, JBL kept the sound the same.
However that isn’t to say that they haven’t made any upgrades at all, they’ve actually fixed almost all the pet peeves that I had with the 300, and even added some features on top of that.
But have they done enough to warrant an upgrade if you already have the Partybox 300? Or if you don’t have either of these, should you save your money and get the 300 or go for the newer 310? Lets find out!!

No man That's literally the number one positive they added to the speaker it definitely needed this I had 2 300s and I used them at a friend's wedding in believe me they were tough to transport especially both at the same time lol
I'm just stuck whether I want to replace my 2nd 300 or just go ahead and get a 310 this year and another one next year lol guess I'll get the 3q0 and decide 😅

Imo they don't sound the same. The 300 sounds muffled while the 310 has nice clear audio. And the 310 has more bass.

The 310 clips/distorts at high volumes. Returned mine and got a 300, no issue.

@@kdas4085 yeah seems to be, I believe that any slight difference people are hearing anyway is software based. Seems they set the cap a bit too high. They have an update for the 300 may see what it does.

Excellent video. Was due to buy the partybox 300 this weekend but after your video I might just stump up the extra cash and get the 310.
Just ordered the 310 yesterday for 400 bucks. I thought it might be fitting since I'm moving out in September and might have a little party once I moved in. Great review!
A BIG miss on 310 is the extra tweeter! Now wont get stereo separation if we keep the speaker on horizontal position!
Thanks for the awesome review. I was able to pick up the 300 for $175. I didn't even know there was a 310. I'm glad the updates were very minimal 😀

Thanks so much for this great review! I'm really looking for sound quality and was seeking a comparison of the 300 and 310. Now I know to just go for the 300. Thanks again!
One thing the reviewer failed to mention was the speaker/tweeter layout changing on the 310. The 310 now only has two tweeters on top when sitting vertically. The 300 has three tweeters (two on top, one on bottom) and when positioned vertically, the top two play, same as the 310, but when you lay the 300 horizontally the bottom tweeter plays with one of the top tweeters. So you get a balanced sound, tweeter/woofer/woofer/tweeter with the 300. The removal of the third tweeter on the bottom of the 310 makes the sound uneven when used horizontally, since you are getting both tweeters on one side. This is a pretty big negative with the 310, IMO.
But the tweeters are stero on the 310

When the 300 is on its side it you can actually hear some seperation

Jesse which is the best sounding Bluetooth speaker you have heard. Aside from being loud which ones do you rate on sound quality but not loudness.

Totally agree with your review! I expected it to be louder too (max volume). If you win a game, in the locker room, the whole team is cheering, the music is just to soft!

I bought some professional speaker stands with two of the 310s and they sound even better when elevated up off the ground and positioned directly in front of the party crowd. I also connect both of the 310s together in TWS (stereo) mode which is great! The only annoying thing is having to re-connect them in TWS mode each time I turn them on, which requires me to pull off the back panel and push the TWS button on the back of each speaker. Do you know if there's a quicker way to do this, perhaps using a key button combination on the top panel instead?
I saw a video where this guy connected them with an aux cable and they automatically synced

What professional speaker stands work well with the 310? Would that stand also work with the 300?

I just purchased a pair of 310 and noticed it sounds way batter when you connect the speakers to the 120v than using the battery only. Now every time I use the speakers always have them connected to the electrical outlet

What do you think about sound's quality to listen a variety of musics (rock, classical, jazz, pop and blues) at home? Which is better, Boombox 2 or Partybox 310? It's for personal use in apartment's large room, rarely for outdoor or a lot of people. Thanks from Brazil.

I just bought 310, absolutely love it. Wish it had voice assistance and wifi as well. Sound is amazing and bass is mind boggling. iPhone EQ is perfect to play with its sound.

I was aksing myself why did they created the 310 after the 300, and not for the other ranges (100,200 & 1000) Its because the TWS doesnt work well on the 300s, i had to update the firmware to avoid a desync (delay between the 2 speakers) while playing; even wih the update after a short period of time the main speaker is way louder than the second.. iam disappointed.. do you experience same issues with the 310s ? thanks for your answer

Yes. I do have a 710 + 310 paired with Tws. Just use your TV setting To select one of the two. 710+310 will give you only mono but it is not really noticable. Much better than a TV sous device.
Beware tant only one device can control speaker so ensure tour smartphone setting music app check thé phone and hot the speaker, otherwise TV won't be able To ses Job speaker! At least that was the issue I had with my on equipment.

Partybox 300 is best plenty of bass and volume and it piss my neighbours off and that's the way I like it.
Hi Jesse, great video. Quick question. If I am to get two 300 and not run bluetooth (I have no need to), but run the two of tem via 3.5 phono through my PC watching movies ... would there still be a slight delay?
no delay if you use chord to connect to watch movies. I also have my 300 and that's what i do
@@kalandrakascebu9999 do you find that the 300 drops out every so often for no apparent reason. Keeps going silent on me when watching movies and music. Seems to be an known issue online. Currently using 3.5 phono from PC ... Also tried RCA ... But no joy. Going to try Bluetooth... But not confident that will solve anything. I wonder if I have a faulty unit. Any ideas?
@@retepshiels i think if you're on battery it does. nt sure what it detects bt it does it to conserve battery then you have to turn up the vol again. Try to be on direct current, might solve it.

he also forgot the connections on the back on the 300 you can connect a mixer without quality diminishment on 310 you only have a mini audio jack input
3.5mm is the same electrical connection as 1/4” . The latter is just bigger to make it harder to break

They don't sound the same. The 310 sounds much better than the 300 don't listen to this Chinese guy on this video. He is wrong for saying they sound the same. No it doesn't. The 310 has clear high frequency sound and has deeper lower frequency sound , so the 310 has bigger bass and really nice clear high frequency sound. They are using different woofers and different tweeters.

@@simongeorge9705 so they are both 240 total, but they are both 120 rms. Sooo they are both the same power. Its really 60 watts to each speaker with a lil going to the tweeter some how. Read the back of the speaker.
