i have 20 year old ocean and earth board and it's quite textured on top. I have never really felt the need for wax

aha yes good point mate ! some earlier bodyboards had different deck skins such as EVA, PP and/or textured surfaces and didn't need as much wax (or any for some users). this vid is more for riders using the traditional and widely used PE deck foam. cheers for the input i know the decks you are talking about ! classic -KS

Don't recommend waxing your stomach area only where your hands go so you can move when doing tricks

no worries mate, yeah like i say in the clip, it's all personal preference and finding what works for you. some riders wax beneath their elbows as well, others no wax anywhere at all. cheers

@@kookshed I put a light coat on the torso for the first few sessions then I find I don't really need to.

@@BKJ-88 no worries mate thanks for the input. you don't find it wears off over time and you need to reapply it..? what's the water temp there because i find in warm water it comes off frequently. cheers -KS

@@kookshed It definitely comes off over time. I think because I have never scrubbed that protective layer off the fresh board out of the wrapper I put some wax there to get some grip otherwise it feels like a bar of soap, after a while that layer comes off from use and I don't need to wax the guts of it anymore, and I just wax the elbows and corners of the nose. Average water temp is probably 20 degrees where I live (South Coast NSW) can get down to about 16 and max up to 26. I always wear at least a spring suit, so that might help with grip. I am getting a new board soon, I'll scrub that layer off with a cloth and some warm water and will wax just the nose and elbows and see how that goes.

@@BKJ-88 no worries mate. yeah that new board slime definitely needs a rinse off first hey! it's just from the production process. yeah i guess wax is personal choice but i usually chuck a bit on if it's looking a bit thin, would hate to blow a move from hand slipping ! cheers for the input, all the best -KS
