    Honestly I’ve always waxed the deck of my boards and I haven’t had problem adjusting my body or shifting weight, at least for myself personally it just helps for unintended slips but doesn’t hinder purposeful movements but that’s just my preference.

    Awesome sharing. On the slick, by the nose and middle of the board where fingers grip, I've added thinly cut strips of the hook part of velcro tape. The first once or twice is a bit harsh on the hands but as the hooks bend down a bit, awesome grip. Then I wax the top similar-ish to what you've shown.

    Thinks Iaian. I apply wax in the same areas as you do. However I add do add a light coat on the deck, although I think this might be the reason why I dont execute full rotations on my spins because it hinders weight transfer.
    What do you think about waxing the deck area ?

    • @Hindsight46

      j agustin wax on the deck/stomach area “limits the amount of slide”

    • @krusher74
      @krusher74 4 года назад +2

      I wax a patch on the deck, but it's only forward on the section when I would slide to for a spin or be at for full speed. I dont put a lot on and it will usually last a 6/12 before i put more on. Also would depend on how sticky the chest of the wetsuit i have that year is.

      @@iaincampbell_ I find that when I'm paddling out to the line up using my arms, the board tends to slip a bit on the stomach area if there is no wax there. However, I have a brand new board now but I definitely do not want to wax the stomach area for the obvious reasons given in this video. I reckon I should maybe just experiment with lying more forward on the board. Does anyone else find this? Can you paddle out really fast with your arms and not slip? On my previous board I just waxed the stomach area after struggling to paddle out properly on a big day. ( my old board was useless for tricks- very entry level- so I just waxed the stomach area). I have washed my new board properly too and today I was slipping a little and it was flat!! The water here is warm and I wear a rash vest only ( no wetsuit)

    Hey mate, hope you are well, Ive recently bought a brand new bodyboard however I forgot to wash all the slime off of it. I used spray on wax however as I used it, the wax wouldn't stick at all and now there is wax drip marks all over my board, I also took it out for a surf for the first time and I just kept on sliding off of it. I was wondering if I damaged my board or if there is anything I can do to rectify this issue? Thanks for your help

    • @iaincampbell_
      @iaincampbell_  3 года назад +1

      I’ve never heard of spray on wax and I don’t even know where to start. I don’t think it’s damaged unless there is something in the wax that could effect the board. Try washing it with some mild soap and then use some proper surf wax. Hope it all works out.

      I don’t blame you. That sounds like a terrible experience. If you want to get rid of excess wax, use a hair dryer and warm the wax up and wipe it off the board with paper towel. They wash the board after and reapply the wax. Haha. Good luck bru.

    I had to put wax all over my new board. Thing was slippery as glass. I haven't bought a body board in ages but I do know that back when i was young a hundred years ago, boards had a pretty good grip to them with no wax. My new board is like a pane of glass with wd40 on it.

    • @iaincampbell_

      🤣🤣🤣
      There is a way to get that off. In the process of making a board, once the lamination is done it leaves a thin layer of ‘residue’ that you can actually wash off before the first surf. I made another video on it. But if you don’t do that or rub sand all over it, it’s like a slippery sea snake!

I don't want to be the old man that can't admit he's just losing ability but I was falling to the sand laughing at that board popping out on him. It was hilarious.
