Yeah !!! I was waiting for this one !!! Thanks Iain you're a legend! Keep coming the awesome videos
Thanks Iain, always good to have a refresher!
Thanks again Iain nice video lots of useful information. Looking forward to the next one 😀👍
YES! This is the channel I've been looking for :D Finally upgraded from cheap-o board (kids get to use it now) and have been binge watching your channel for this weekend lol
Thanks so much man. Stoked you’re enjoying the content. Much more to come.
This is cool! Thank you🤙
Awesome explanation 👍🏻
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for another great vid, waiting for that raw clip to come
Should be dropping on Monday. Super keen 🤙🏼
Thank you brother
Welcome
Thanks for the tip! I always waxed the whole board. I'm always falling off 😂 mastered staying on. I'll try to wax board your way and see if there is a difference. When I never added wax my stomach always had rash from my board. So I gotta wear a suit when I ride my board. Aloha from maui Ian! Thanks for always inspiring me 😊🌺
🙏🏼🙏🏼 hope this helps. It allows you to move up and down on your board (go faster and slower). So I hope it helps with your riding and always happy to inspire. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Always lightly wax up the middle just gave new board a light wax up the guts but see your point of slide. I hate sliding around just paddling out and around the line up though find it the perfect balance cheers for the insight legend!!
Works for some but not too much. Sliding up and down the board is important for weight distribution…
Honestly I’ve always waxed the deck of my boards and I haven’t had problem adjusting my body or shifting weight, at least for myself personally it just helps for unintended slips but doesn’t hinder purposeful movements but that’s just my preference.
Each to their own but for my personal opinion and maybe because of the stickier wax I am using, it really makes a difference.
Yes I find I’ll just slip off without a bit of wax when paddling with my arms
Muy bien con el traductor gracias
De nada mi amigo 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Awesome sharing. On the slick, by the nose and middle of the board where fingers grip, I've added thinly cut strips of the hook part of velcro tape. The first once or twice is a bit harsh on the hands but as the hooks bend down a bit, awesome grip. Then I wax the top similar-ish to what you've shown.
That’s pretty interesting bru. I’m glad that works for you like it does. Like I said, everyone is different and when you find something that works you got to stick with it!
Very helpful, thanks! Any advice about which kind of wax should I use? I see there are two different kind of wax, for warm and for cold water. Does it really make a difference, in your experience? Just curious!
Yes it makes a difference for sure. I would suggest going with the correct wax for the water temp you normally surf in.
@@iaincampbell_ thanks!
Do you recommend waxing the slick side of the nose for when you gripping the nose when kicking for speed
I think it works most of the time so for sure I suggest waxing it on the slick.
Hey have you ever body bodyboard at Clifton 1 and 2 yesterday there were a 10 footer I tried and it was so sick just a place to go in Cape Town
Nope. If it was 10 foot there, that would be my last choice of waves to ride.
How to DK next pls
And should we wax differently if we plan on dk or not
I don’t find DK an easy thing to teach but I can maybe give you guys a couple tips. I’ll try work though this one.
When it comes to waxing for dropknee I use the same technique, wax the areas where your limbs are touching the board. Knee and foot. Not too much.
What exact song did you use in the intro? I really like it.
I’ll have to go and look.
Thinks Iaian. I apply wax in the same areas as you do. However I add do add a light coat on the deck, although I think this might be the reason why I dont execute full rotations on my spins because it hinders weight transfer.
What do you think about waxing the deck area ?
j agustin wax on the deck/stomach area “limits the amount of slide”
I wax a patch on the deck, but it's only forward on the section when I would slide to for a spin or be at for full speed. I dont put a lot on and it will usually last a 6/12 before i put more on. Also would depend on how sticky the chest of the wetsuit i have that year is.
@@Hindsight46 thanks brother. Ill give this a try. Its breaking nice here on Guam. Itll give me a chance to try out your tips.
@@krusher74 good tips bro. Its warm water climate here so i usually go with no top.
Personally I don’t like wax on the deck. Hinders movement and that means you can’t slide easily. A tiny bit would be okay I guess but I’m against it completely.
When I paddle onto the wave, should I be kicking with my fins and be paddling with my hands. Because I do that and my body slips out underneath me and I miss the wave. Can someone pls help
One hand can stay on the board when you are kicking and paddling. That hand can be used to push the board down. If you want to see a video on that I can do it too.
@@iaincampbell_ I find that when I'm paddling out to the line up using my arms, the board tends to slip a bit on the stomach area if there is no wax there. However, I have a brand new board now but I definitely do not want to wax the stomach area for the obvious reasons given in this video. I reckon I should maybe just experiment with lying more forward on the board. Does anyone else find this? Can you paddle out really fast with your arms and not slip? On my previous board I just waxed the stomach area after struggling to paddle out properly on a big day. ( my old board was useless for tricks- very entry level- so I just waxed the stomach area). I have washed my new board properly too and today I was slipping a little and it was flat!! The water here is warm and I wear a rash vest only ( no wetsuit)
I really want to learn DK as well it would be nice for a professional to teach me
I don’t find DK an easy thing to teach but I can maybe give you guys a couple tips. I’ll try work though this one.
Hey mate, hope you are well, Ive recently bought a brand new bodyboard however I forgot to wash all the slime off of it. I used spray on wax however as I used it, the wax wouldn't stick at all and now there is wax drip marks all over my board, I also took it out for a surf for the first time and I just kept on sliding off of it. I was wondering if I damaged my board or if there is anything I can do to rectify this issue? Thanks for your help
I’ve never heard of spray on wax and I don’t even know where to start. I don’t think it’s damaged unless there is something in the wax that could effect the board. Try washing it with some mild soap and then use some proper surf wax. Hope it all works out.
@@iaincampbell_ thanks Ian, that's basically what I did, to be honest, I have never heard of spray on wax either, its something which my local bodyboard shop recommended. I basically washed my board with a sponge and a bit of soap and managed to get most of the wax off. However I will never use this stuff ever again hahw
I don’t blame you. That sounds like a terrible experience. If you want to get rid of excess wax, use a hair dryer and warm the wax up and wipe it off the board with paper towel. They wash the board after and reapply the wax. Haha. Good luck bru.
Hey Iain ive been wondering if i have to use wax made for surfing or i can just grab a candle and use that wax because i am first going to get my wax in 5 weeks????
Surfing or bodyboard wax only. Candle wax will just make the board slippery.
@@iaincampbell_ ok thanks🤙🤙
Nice casio matey! I wear the same one haha
I need to get that fancy silver one like this one. Pimp it out a bit from time to time 😉😂
Iain Campbell hahaha once you go black...
What about putting wax on a brand new board ? I found it totally slippery when it s new ! Any advice ?
New boards you need to wash them first. I have made a video about that middle of last year... ruclips.net/video/KUho0qm8KQ8/видео.html
Iain Campbell Thank you for your respons Iain. Cheers from France :-)
Rub sand on it bru, nothing complicated about it
ethan 662 I will do it on my next board. Thank you :-)
I had to put wax all over my new board. Thing was slippery as glass. I haven't bought a body board in ages but I do know that back when i was young a hundred years ago, boards had a pretty good grip to them with no wax. My new board is like a pane of glass with wd40 on it.
🤣🤣🤣
There is a way to get that off. In the process of making a board, once the lamination is done it leaves a thin layer of ‘residue’ that you can actually wash off before the first surf. I made another video on it. But if you don’t do that or rub sand all over it, it’s like a slippery sea snake!
ruclips.net/video/KUho0qm8KQ8/видео.html - check this out.
@@iaincampbell_ Actually in desperation I did rub sand on it, alot too. Maybe a hair better after that but still a S show. Seemed like this thing was INFUSED with oil not just coated with mold release. My son grabbed it and took it out and I watched to see if I was just losing it with age. I don't want to be the old man that can't admit he's just losing ability but I was falling to the sand laughing at that board popping out on him. It was hilarious. "Sub optimal" situation but I will say I haven't laughed that hard in awhile.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 oh my goodness. I can only imagine what that must have been like. Try washing it at home with some soap. Not shower gel, bar of soap. It may work out and help. Otherwise just continue to use wax all over until it remedies itself.
It's a special wax for Bodyboarding or for surf?
No I use sticky bumps but you can use any surf wax.
With my 5:4 wetsuit up in Northern California I wax the belly area. If I don’t wax it I can’t even stay on the board. Way to slippery. It’s a light coat of wax.
Totally understand that... sometimes those suits are a bit slippery. 🤙🏼
Yes I live on the east coast nsw Australia 23°c water temp, just bought a body board, went without wax kept shooting out from under me, the new boards aren't like the old ones, old Mach 10 never needed wax.

@@iaincampbell_ thanks for the tip bro, I'll give her a scrub.
I’ve been bodyboarding for 2 and a half years and I wasn’t sure that I was waxing my board right, turns out I wasn’t, cheers
No worries. Glad we got you sorted now 😉🤙🏼
Had no idea didn't wax the middle , iam returning into the water used to surf but maybe go down body boarding route to to health issues
Good luck… not waxing the middle helps with weight adjusting and moving up and down the board.
@@iaincampbell_ thank you for your chanel , all the best to you
Is there a way to take the wax out?
Yes for sure there is. I’ll make a video about it. 🤙🏼
@@iaincampbell_ did you ever make that video? I need to know the answer too 😂
Please do a turial how to make bodyboard wax😯
You’re kidding right? You just commented on this video...
I've seen people put wax under the bottom of the board where the fingers grip. Would this technique be useful. Cheers
Baller F.C watch 3:25 he talks about that
@@Hindsight46 Thanks, don't know how i missed it
