Not me over here just sticking a moss pole wherever it seems to work... 🙃 Thank you so much for these videos! Your information is direct and to the point. Excited to watch your channel grow!
my monstera will not attach to the moss pole. it’s dying actually [yellow leaves] i can’t seem to nurse it back to health. i think i need to put it in a nursing pot.
I love the helpful info you are giving in your videos. You actually know what you’re talking about, in contrast with most “tiktok plant experts”. I also mostly leave the roots on my plants alone, but not when they come in compacted nursery soil wich stays too wet. Those i bare root and put in a mix that suits the plant, so you don’t have 2 different soil mixes in a pot wich creates different moisture retention rates in those specific soil mixtures.
ahhh the mixed soil point is huge... think i've made that mistake on a few that are struggling. i usually have removed as much as i can when i pick up new ones, but for some i bet i didn't. thanks!
its so cool youre growing stuff for family, ive been nurturing cuttings of a nightbloomer from a host plant my grandma had before she passed away to a tumor in her head- its growing some proper stems right now and doing very well but im also terrified of potentially losing my one last piece from her in the world especially when my remaining family tends to murder indoor plants regularly
Thanks for the info about pole placement. I repotted my Monstera several days ago and I wish I waited to watch this. Is there a way to put a pole in to a potted Monstera or is it best to wait until next repotting? I love watching your videos.
If you think you can get it in/out without damaging the roots go for it. You could also take it out of the pot, put the pole in, and put it back in the same sized pot. You may need to loosen the roots to create space.
I didn't know the placement of the pole matters. 😳 I just recently potted my mostera the way you said not to. 😅 I'm so glad I know now. But should I repot her again? 🤔 Just scared of ruffing her up too much.
patiently waiting for the moss pole video 🤩 can you touch on timing of adding one? as far as plant maturity and time of year.. thank you for your content!!
so much great advice in one video. thank you Lee for all the tips that say it´s not that complicated to take care of plants (i've just learned i don't need to dump the whole soil while repotting or that the positioning of amos pole matters haha)
Hi Lee, here’s a video idea; I was wondering if you can graft an Monstera Albo cutting to a Monstera Deliciosa. It will be a interesting experiment. love your content, keep up the good work.
Good morning! Where did you get that clear pot, and thanks for the information on where to stick the pole. I am new to this and have a new plant I just tied together with velcro to stop it from spreading.
You can try north shore tropicals. They're from Vancouver, Canada and recently started shipping to the states. They sometimes have them in stock but I know they're pretty popular and sell out. I haven't seen any quality ones on Amazon.
But, in another video, you said to place the moss pole at the back of the monsters plant. And you gave an excellent demonstration of how to find the back of a monstera. Here, it looks like you did something else.
So when a plant is this young you can’t really use aerial roots obviously because they tend not to have them. If there’s no aerial roots do you just put a support pole to support the area of plant that’s growing outwards?
You take plant, put it in soil. Just choose a pot size that's a good fit for how much root mass it has. If the roots can compress to the size of a baseball, then a 5-6" pot should be good!
My poor Deliciousa is like 6 months past needing a repotting. 😬 THICK roots coming out of the bottom of the pot. It needs to move up to a 14" pot and I'm really not excited to be fussing with all that.
Thanks for the tip Lee! Ive actually been kinda obsessing over finding the perfect explanation and guid ! I've read alot on repotting my mostera since I just got it about 2 weeks ago from a grocery store and nobody had any valuable info on the details of this plant like how long its been in the Same pot /soil ... So I can't decide what I should on account I badly want to repot it into one I bought for it 😅 but I don't know If I'm going harm it ... BTW I'm adding a moss pole and it's about the same size pot.... what should I do
I generally recommend, if it's your first plant, just keep it in the pot for a couple months so that you get a handle on caring for it consistently before you change the pot.
If my monstera is root bound and I decide not to loosen the roots, can i use a different soil mix than the mix the plant is root bound to? Or is it best to use the same soil mix it has in its root ball
@@KillThisPlant ugh. So id have to find a way to release the dirt in the root ball then right? Because it has a previous owner and i don’t know what she used!
@@shannonsilva1994 to be safe I would try. If you're only going up a tiny bit in pot size you might be ok. At least loosen the roots a little if possible.

They are either in low light and or your pot size increase was too large for their root mass. Now the soil is staying wet for too long and your roots are dying. This is what's most likely.
Hydroponics with Monstera would be the same as any other plant. I do have a playlist with 3 videos that discuss most of my thoughts on LECA and semihydro. I will add this to the list of videos ideas, but it wont be made soon. Thank you for the comment! I do appreciate it.
Hey Lee, I really like your comment and I do trust the information you provide but I'm confused about something... what actually is your credibility? Do you have a degree in anything plant related, or have you worked in a plant shop? And if not, that's totally okay but do you at least have sources to provide? Like I said, I really do trust the information you give but I would like to see better proof than just what has worked in your personal experience.
Thanks for the comment. I grew up around plants helping my dad with his garden. Have briefly worked in a nursery (and of course personal experience). If you're looking for more hard science particularly soil science I always suggest Gardening in Canada.
Some plants might be ready to repot every 6 months. Some once a year. What are you doing to check your roots?
I use transparent orchid production pots for smaller plants. I must find something bigger when they grow up.
@@larrydzemorsky1777 I hope you're able to find some.

It's probably not that urgent for you to "fix" the placement of your pole.
But if you're going to, now is a better time than later.
You are so informative and educational on these videos. Thank you. 🙏🏼 I love the birch bar too.
Just what I was looking for. Thank you!!!

My opinion on when to put in a climbing pole is as soon as a plant becomes unstable. Doesn't really matter what season.
My favorite plant channel so far ❤

Can I use a mix of just regular perlite and compost soil???
If so what’s a good ratio?

I don't think you can graft Monstera. They are Monocots and in general you can't graft those types of plants.
where do you tie the stem as it starts to grow longer?
Your monsteras are huge!!! Are the regular monsteras, or monstera deliciosa??
Hi Lee. Can you make a video on how to grow more monstera leaves?

Hey Lee! Where do you get those beautiful birch poles from?
I buy locally, usually small family run places have them.
Should you unravel roots if severely pot bound and roots are rapped around entire bottom?
It would help the plant establish faster if you did..
Hi ! What is that lil sachet thing you hang on your plants??
Those are beneficial bugs to fight pests
I made the newbie mistake of repotting my monstera in a pot that is way too big. It's been in there for over a year now. Do I just leave it now?
If the roots are healthy it might be ok to stay in there another year you'd have to inspect them to know for sure.
Looks like I did the same thing. But the pot is terracotta. So I’m not too worried.
Hello love your show, just purchased a Monstera do I change the pot?
