    The "You look a lot more blond in your movie" line was a reference to how Daniel Craig was the first blond to play the role. All previous actors had been dark-haired. When he was cast, there was a huge backlash from series purists who saw it as a huge miscast and mocked him as "James Blond" and campaigned against him.

      Which was ridiculous because he was actually not the first blond to be Bond, he just didn't have dyed hair and this was the early 2000's where drama was a major staple of pop culture. They hated him up until a set leak revealed he was hot in the swimming scene. Connery was a bodybuilder in his youth but even when he played Bond he wasn't that in shape.

      @@archfiend221 The two fingers are the fingers that an archer would use to draw an arrow. The French famously lost many battles to English archers in the 100 Years' War. Legend has it that English POWs would get their index and middle fingers cut off so that they could never shoot an arrow again. Upon learning of this mistreatment, English longbowmen would raise those two fingers and use it as a "fuck you" sort of hand gesture toward the French. Since WW2's V for Victory campaign it's become less common to use 2 fingers up as an insult, but V for Victory and Peace are palm facing away from self, while F you is palm facing toward self.

    • @HulkingNewt
      @HulkingNewt 3 года назад +2

      @matthewbibby8921 2 года назад

      @@archfiend221 The insult is a flipped Peace symbol - so the back of your fingers are facing away from you as opposed to the “V for victory” sign.
      As the other guy mentioned, the legend of the french cutting off the Index finger - but since that’s unsubstantiated and more of a legend than anything really confirmed or supported, off the top of my head it could also be, well, the “opposite of a peace sign” since it’s reversed.
      Not to mention you stick your tongue between it and it’s now a symbol for cunnilingus. Could be a shorthand for that.
      But yes, as a British person, it’s a thing here, but I’m not surprised you wouldn’t know it because it’s practically unknown outside of the British isles in general.

    "Skyfall" is my favorite too.
    For the movies with Connery: there are seven, but only six in the saga produced by EON Productions (the one not in the saga is "Never say never again" (the "Thunderball" remake)) BTW, there also are two other Bond movies not produced by EON, both adaptations of "Casino Royale": one in 1967 (a parody starring David Niven) and a TV movie starring Barry Nelson in 1954 (8 years before Connery, who's still the first Bond in theaters)

    The background and beat switches in this are my all time favorite of theirs. Can’t say it’s my favorite battle, but I think this and the Gordon Ramsey vs Julia Childs we’re the best as far as production quality. I think after that season they left the Disney owned studio so the quality went down a bit, but they do get better every year with their lyrics no matter what.
