Ahh, love it. I love hearing people passionate about their cars. Doesn't matter if it's a 30 year old BMW or a tiny, 80hp kei car or a new muscle car. I feel you dude. I'm the same way with my 1992 Toyota Cressida. It's got some cracked interior panels and bits that I've slowly been finding replacements for, to get it looking fresh. I'm also doing performance mods and giving it a modern feel with bucket seats, a bluetooth stereo, wheels, etc.
Yeah in fact you almost can't find e30 manual in good condition all of them are ripped off. My father had same car as you have but manual. It was beast until he crashed it : | :D
Nick Murray Hey Nick, what camera are you using while you were sitting in-car? That resolution and focus is beautiful, Love the E30, I used to have a 1988 E30 318i now own a 2000 328i Sport Premium E46. Keep up those review sir. Thanks
Great review! Really interesting to hear about all the difference quirks of the car. Really gives it a great personality I'm sure. I love the E30s. Got to drive a 318ti coupe once and it was a ton of fun. Excited for the next couple reviews you have lined up!
I'm a huge 911 fan and I came across your channel because of your 911 uploads. They were great! But today I watched you review this beautiful BMW and I must say, kudos to your passion of automobiles ! :) "Hobby" really well done :D keep up the great videos sir.
Thanks for a really high quality in-depth video of your e30. It brought back a lot of memories for me. My dad had a 1990 318 touring in white with charcoal cloth interior. He got it new and I have the very same UK brochure as you. He could have chosen a very basic 320 but he chose the 318 so he could have the bottletop alloys that ou have, a radio cassette and fog lamps. His previous car was a Volvo 240 so getting the 3 series was pretty exciting at the time.
Very nice review for a very well car. I love your ride. My first car was a 87 bmw 325e and I paid $4800 for it in 2002. I loved it and i wish i never got ride of it but to be honest, it was a lemon. I put in over $12,000 in it for parts and labor alone and i never even scratched the surface of the problems it had. The electrical parts in the car just kept going out and but the engine never failed and never left me stranded. I eventually totaled the car and it would still drive with the front end smashed up. I hope to own another one like yours some day. You really do have a beautiful car. Take care of it.
Thank you many times for sharing this VDO. Full options and perfect condition. My E30 has not got 1.Electric window 2.On board computer 3.Self checking 4.Cruise control 5.Sunroof 6.6 cylinders 2500cc 7.Automatic tranmission It has only got electric mirrors with 4 cylinders 1800cc in bad condition.
Hey Nick, live not too far down the road from your dad's farm in the Helensville region. I just brought a 89 325i as a project car to slowly do up. It's done 127 k's, same as yours body fairly tidy, interior absolutely mint bar a small dash crack, and it's the same colour, Silver/Blue. Loved the video, nice one thanks Craig
Wow, car is in great condition. In the late 80's, the second car I ever bought was a used 1984 E30 325e (5 speed MT), 2 door with about 60k miles on it, it was a great little car and built like a tank. I had that car all through High School and College,, ended up getting totaled in an accident but it had 276k miles on it and still ran like a champ. Brings back memories
Cool review Nick. Back in 1988 my dad bought ab e30 316i in germany and that basically started my interest for BMW. So it's awesome that you actually take the time to put a little spotlight on your e30... especially since 80s cars do not seem to get very much attention these days (maybe they're just not old enough yet). Thanks man, keep it up!
Older cars didn't have the planned obsolescense in their engines like modern cars that die whilst you are still paying for them! Congratulations on your 325 I! I wish that I kept my 1984 318 i!
Hi Nick, Thanks for the review, your car is so cool!! I have geek E30 with M40 engine year 1991 and I really love to drive it, one day when I have enough cash I will do full restoration.
That's a great video! Thanks.. I actually just bought an E46 a few months ago and keep toying with the idea of getting an E30. It is genuinely surprising how well featured these BMs of the 80s were. I still remember this Honda we had back in 2000 with not even half the features that you had mentioned in this video..
very nice model Nick. I live in CHCH and i have an E30 318i which i bought 10 years ago as a work commuter. like yours its in super-immaculate original condition. just replaced the fuel pump, and to complete the refurbishment, i replaced the gear selecter brush lol.
Awesome review. I recently bought an 'celebration edition' E30 320i Automatic. Sounds exactly the same. I own a 2 door edition where the BBS 14" rims are painted in the same color as the car body, opalgrohn. I like the fact that you love a 30 year old car like this even if you own a porsche or an M4.
Love the video Nick. Had use of an 86 325e in college. Used to make that car stand on two wheels. Loved it so much bought my own 88 535is. Another great car. Cheers.
Hey Nick - you don't need the dealer to reset the service meter. There's a diagnose box with a couple of pins of which you only need to connect two for the reset. Look it up on the net. Worked fine with me when I had these generation's BMWs.
A-MA-ZING video Nick, good job. It is a wonderful car, really a good piece of automotive history that you can enjoy daily. Congratulations to you and to that jewel! Regards from Chile :)
Great review Nick. Your e30 is a cool little beast and love to hear how into the car you are (also with the 635CSi E24)! Love BMW's (new and old school). I bought myself a new e90 325i back in 2010 as a graduation present and love it to bits. Serious nice machine. Keep up the great reviews :)
Hey nick Thanks for making this video , I'm from southwest FL , I have a 4 door e30 and is also automatic and u just made me go shoot some video of it ! Good luck enjoy , btw nice camera bag
Agh! You got the automatic. I had an 87 325i coupe with a 5 speed manual. When I got it, it had 182k miles on the odometer, and it(the odometer) stopped working right at around 200k. Yes, it had some other issues(like burning oil, crappy cassette player, ac not working) but when you drove it, it drove straight, and NOTHING squeaked or rattled!! It was built like a tank, but when something broke it cost as much as rent to repair. Still, it was a good driver; the handling and visibility are second to none. Gas mileage kinda sucked-25mpg on the highway(my 2011 Infiniti m56 gets 26mpg). Eventually, when I have a two car garage, I might fancy another e30 coupe, albeit one with the wider tail lights and plastic bumpers like yours.
Interesting. Here in Germany maybe a bunch of guys still like these cars, for the most of us it is just an old used one (despite the M3, of course). For me the E30 ist a special car since it was the one passing by when I was in education at a major BMW dealer in 89-91. I had the engine in my first 5series later on. Nice one.
Greetings from South Africa. Our cars are also right hand drive like in the UK, etc. My dad had a 1991 325i E30 when I was in my early days (I was born in 1994). It was the 4 door sedan version and it had a Manual transmition, although I'm also interested in the automatic transmition. We sadly don't have it any more since 2001.
Nice review. BMWs are known for being an excellent driver's car. I would like to have heard a little bit more about the handling and braking too. BTW, this makes perfect sense, but your NZ accent gets thicker when you're there. Truth is I keep coming back to your videos hoping to see more Porsche reviews. I've been obsessing over Cayman's lately. Keep up the great work. You make RUclips a great place to learn things.
Nick what is behind the door in center of the rear seats? Is it a arm rest or a hole for fishing rods to poke through from the boot? I haven't seen one of those, very curious to find out Excellent of point of view on thee e30:)
Hi Nick! Another nice video for another nice car! I really like it... you made an excellent job with it. I really love your videos... I don't know how to say but.... yes, I feel good when I see them! :) I loved your 911 (you know, the 911 has always been my favourite car), especially in that color and options, but I love your stunning M4 as well. Didn't you say that you were thinking about buying the next 911? Then, can't wait for it and for the rewiev of the amazing Macan. And... wow, New Zealand seems full of great roads to drive on! Go on so with your videos. Greetings from Italy! ;)
Do you service (change the oil) it every time u get back to new zealand? I've read its not recommended running the engine on oil that just sat still for a year. Ive got a '99 E46 323ci myself, and my mechanic said those bmw straight sixes are pretty undestroyable, but he'd change the oil every year anyway, regardless of how much you drive.
You like the sound of the engine too? You should, it is the best feature of this car. BMW's straight six engines were renowned for their sound and refinement.
Very hard to believe that E30, has over 300.000kms, it looks new, congratulations, I like it a lot. However, (all due respect) it would be better if it had the manual gearbox. I know it is an old argument, and trust me, I'm a PDK-DCT enthusiast, but the E30 with a manual is awesome. BTW. Keep doing your videos, I'm waiting to see that M4, I like it more and more every time I see it.
Good comment. I could not find a 325i with a manual box in the condition I was looking for. I don't mind either way really as the 4 speed auto pretty nice cruiser.
Anyways, congrats, I must admit that I'm just as jealous of you having this car as with the M4 and as I was with the 911 (despite all the fuzz of that one) At least in my country (Colombia) E30 325 prices have been going up the last couple years, a good one is in the 15 to 20.000 dollars range.
Great car Nick, I have a 1990 e30 conv. its an absolutely wonderful car to drive. I totally agree with you in respect to the feeling you get when you drive this car, or just sit in in for that matter.. On a side note, I also have a 16 VW Golf R, WOW!!! :)
Love the 2,5 version, but the auto gearbox is slowing the car down alot. Older auto transmission where really hampering performance alot. The manual version is a pretty fast car even by today standard...very low weight car.
Actually the windows do roll up and down automatically if you want them to, all you need to do is hit the switch very shortly, like a light tap. Holding them in is for precise positioning.
Oh its the god's chariot! One of my favorit cars, would love to have one again. I'd siggest you to get original recaros maybe reupholster them to the same color, they are so good and make the ride in e30 *so* much more enjoyable.
nick, dunno if u sorted out the head unit but if u didn't, look for a becker traffic pro, it looks very oem (it has even been fitted by bmw on some cars) and it will fit the looks perfectly. Love your car, btw.
that's a great car the e30. I have a car back home too that i'd like to restore and drive whenever im there....not as nice as the bimmer(its a 79 Datsun sunny) but its a car I love...its actually my first car. Also drive on the wrong side(or correct side to me lol) down there too.
Great car Nick! I just bought an 89 e30 325i convertible and I'm restoring it, great body condition but the interior not so good. What do you think about this model (convertible)? and do you have any advices? Thanks
I sort of wish I had restored the convertible, it is such a beautiful car. If the body is in good condition then you are set, everything else can be fixed or replaced. Have the seats recovered and the car looks like new again.
LOVELY CAR ! never sell it ! here in GB, they are going up in value. I had an e30 1990 316i Lux manual 2dr in Glacier blue - same. I wish i still had it now ! one day i will find a mint 2dr 325 i se in Glacier blue manual box. They Cost a Fortune here in Uk for a good one. I'm not far off i have an e34 525i SE 1995 with the vannos 24 valve 2.5. WOW WHAT A CAR ! I Love everything except the colour on mine. FULL BMW Service History from new. Now also flying up in value ! a huge worldwide following. people just LOVE THEM ! I maintain mine Regardless of cost with all genuine parts fact is it never goes wrong ! Nothing ever breaks ! no bits drop off or wear out ! ( except the usual disposable service items ) 22 yrs old on AUG 1st 2016 ! Happy 22nd Birthday to my BIG BLACK BEEMER ! 144,000 miles genuine and checked. looks like its never been sat in or driven. NOT FOR SALE ! its here to stay. far too good to sell. Nothing could replace it . if it goes wrong i will fix it regardless of cost over its market value. ACE CARS if you have one just keep it e30 or e34 .
You live in Mangawhai Heads in New Zealand!? I know that car park from the first shot! and also that dead end street where you did up close shots with the BMW! :)
Nick Murray I'm from Auckland, a car enthusiast my self just like you, I don't know how I got into following your videos and subscribing, starting from your beloved Porsche review but the first video I watched I just knew your Kiwi (just because of your accent). I hope to make videos like yours to document and show people who are interested in my recently purchased car :)
Very nice :) I would like do something like that with an 840 one day. They are cheap to buy, and then I am sure, you can start spending any amount you want on parts ;)
Hello Nick... I'm about to buy an E30 BMW 325is... How is the fuel economy on an E30... Is it good for a daily drive to work and is it good for long journeys like 6 or so hours on the road? How many litres do you need to fill this car up?🤔
hey nick, great vid. I recently bought a e30 325i. It has a very annoying droney muffler on it. Was just wondering what type of exhaust you have on this????
strangely the exhaust on the New Zealand model E30 325i is the Euro exhaust which is quite different to the US exhaust. You can tell if it is a Euro or US spec by the angle the pipes come out the back. What country is your E30 from?
Nick Murray Thanks for the reply. It's Australian. I guess that probably means its a Euro exhaust originally. I wouldn't mind something with a little more character then stock but nothing too loud or droney. Any suggestions??
Chris Varitimos I am sure there are many many options but I don't know of any because mine has a new stock exhaust. I am wondering if you cat converter might be part of the problem? Maybe consider removing that.
This auto gearbox shifts pretty quickly! I'm very surprised actually. Not far off, or maybe even faster than my E92 335i. It's in the dealership getting reprogrammed now to stock now though. I recently purchased the car and the tech said that the modern transmissions adapt to driving style so maybe the previous owner had a completely different style than I do. I have an F30 LCI 320i as my loaner car and it's much worse than mine :|
M4 review coming as soon as I get back to the US
C'mon Nick e30 and automatic transmission. You spoil whole soul of it
toko boxua You might be right, it took me years to find a E30 in the condition I could work with and it had the auto so I went with it.
Yeah in fact you almost can't find e30 manual in good condition all of them are ripped off. My father had same car as you have but manual. It was beast until he crashed it : | :D
***** Yes you are totally correct Pierre!
Nick Murray Hey Nick, what camera are you using while you were sitting in-car? That resolution and focus is beautiful, Love the E30, I used to have a 1988 E30 318i now own a 2000 328i Sport Premium E46. Keep up those review sir. Thanks
17 year old kid from Los Angeles wanting a 325i e30 BMW just like this one! Beautiful car!
I love your voice and presenting style and I love your cars. This channel is a gem and totally undersubscribed. Well done Nick!
Thank you!
Angus I agree
Great review! Really interesting to hear about all the difference quirks of the car. Really gives it a great personality I'm sure. I love the E30s. Got to drive a 318ti coupe once and it was a ton of fun. Excited for the next couple reviews you have lined up!
Thanks Matt. The M4 is waiting for me at the dealership for when I get back to the US next week. I also have few others in the works.
I'm a huge 911 fan and I came across your channel because of your 911 uploads. They were great! But today I watched you review this beautiful BMW and I must say, kudos to your passion of automobiles ! :)
"Hobby" really well done :D keep up the great videos sir.
My late 80's Saab 900I has one of those brush like covers where the handbrake slot is. I noticed it before you even said it!
Thank you many times for sharing this VDO.
Full options and perfect condition.
My E30 has not got
1.Electric window
2.On board computer
3.Self checking
4.Cruise control
5.Sunroof
6.6 cylinders 2500cc
7.Automatic tranmission
It has only got electric mirrors with 4 cylinders 1800cc in bad condition.

Another thing... maybe i've overheard it but what is the official horsepower on your 325?
Thomas Gawlowski 170 HP
Thanks Nick; I had a 1986 325e sedan in silver , so brings back good memories of one of my favorite cars.
Older cars didn't have the planned obsolescense in their engines like modern cars that die whilst you are still paying for them! Congratulations on your 325 I! I wish that I kept my 1984 318 i!
New BMWs are getting so long. This car was great. My M240i is a perfect size like the old 3 series. Nice work keeping it like new.
History of human bimmer is BMW e30 ever. Thank for good reviews and good Newzealand Location view is so beautiful city to set the life down.
very nice model Nick.

Love the video Nick. Had use of an 86 325e in college. Used to make that car stand on two wheels. Loved it so much bought my own 88 535is. Another great car. Cheers.
Takes me back to my youth & my 318 E30 & 320 E21, great video, thanks!
Thanks for a great review and keeping this on the road Nick.....it's a beautiful example with a great color combination.
I can't believe that the E30 325 makes almost as much as my 2003 E46 325. It's a great engine with power in all the revs.
Hey Nick - you don't need the dealer to reset the service meter. There's a diagnose box with a couple of pins of which you only need to connect two for the reset. Look it up on the net. Worked fine with me when I had these generation's BMWs.
brilliant..old BMW still have class..thanks for sharing your one with us. Love all your videos...keep up the good work!!!
theres no imperfections of the e30, im honestly in love with it
Excellent review, Nick! Love your videos man, keep it up.
what camera are you using from 0:00-0:08 it has good resolution and i want to look into it
my guy, your car is just toooo perfect super, clean keep it up.
great review nick, make sure to make many vids on the m4. a delivery video at the dealer would also be great. keep it up!!!
Will do
The interior/exterior color is much better looking than mines.
Love my 325i SE Touring... had it 15 years! :)
"It has as flat 6"... haha, I think you are thinking of Porsche! It has an inline-6.
Very nice E30! I've been a Saab 900 Turbo guy but would love to own an E30. Cheers for the review!
Keep up the great reviews :)
paz325 Nice car : )
Hey nick Thanks for making this video , I'm from southwest FL , I have a 4 door e30 and is also automatic and u just made me go shoot some video of it ! Good luck enjoy , btw nice camera bag
Thes are very handsome cars. We used to mock them as "the German Sentra" but in truth, the styling has held up very, very well.
Eventually, when I have a two car garage, I might fancy another e30 coupe, albeit one with the wider tail lights and plastic bumpers like yours.
Great review and Lovely Car.
Hope to see some more soon!
Your e30 is mint. 🙌🏼 Loving it!!
For my e30 I am giving it some life everyday. 👍🏼
Nice one.
My 89 325i coupe has 347k miles. Gr8 vid btw
Beautiful car! I live in Auckland, New Zealand and I wish to have one of these for my first car.
Very nice example Nick. Should look out for a nice period Becker head unit, they had them in the Porsches around the same year.
Greetings from South Africa. Our cars are also right hand drive like in the UK, etc. My dad had a 1991 325i E30 when I was in my early days (I was born in 1994). Truth is I keep coming back to your videos hoping to see more Porsche reviews. I've been obsessing over Cayman's lately. Keep up the great work. You make RUclips a great place to learn things.
Nice review. E30 was also iconic for me especially the M3 and 325is. You said "flat 6" but I think you meant "inline 6". Cheers mate!
Nick what is behind the door in center of the rear seats?
Is it a arm rest or a hole for fishing rods to poke through from the boot?
I haven't seen one of those, very curious to find out
Excellent of point of view on thee e30:)
Love it! Can't wait to see your M4 as well.
Very nice, I love your E30!
The only thing I don't like is the modern radio.
It deserves an original BMW one from the 80s and you know it. ;)
Go on so with your videos. Greetings from Italy! ;)
You should do a reivew of your golf back in the US. I would love to hear your impressions on it.
I few people have asked me that. I might do one when I get time. Not much to say about it really but it is a really lovely car to drive.
Do you service (change the oil) it every time u get back to new zealand? I've read its not recommended running the engine on oil that just sat still for a year. Ive got a '99 E46 323ci myself, and my mechanic said those bmw straight sixes are pretty undestroyable, but he'd change the oil every year anyway, regardless of how much you drive.
do you still have this E30 by chance? it is gorgeous! I have an 87 4door. that I am restoring, and modernizing a bit of the interior.
+Joe Crofts Yes I did an update video on this about a month a go
Wait, the steering wheel is on the left side, but the hood release is on the right side? Is that on all cars with the steering wheel on the left side?
You like the sound of the engine too? You should, it is the best feature of this car. BMW's straight six engines were renowned for their sound and refinement.
Nick! did you ever consider the new GT3 as a possible replacement? My personal favorite Porsche right now.
Very well done. Always loved this car, and have always wanted one. Someday 😄🤞
Juan Manuel Martinez Will Columbia win the WC this year? ???!!!
Yes Colombia, kick Brazil ass tomorrow!
Nick Murray Northwest Biotherapeutics It would be a nice surprise, by the way, it's Colombia not Columbia, (just a detail, haha)
Nice car !! Curious to know what you tow with the hitch ball ?
Jet ski
Haha nice !
Great car Nick, I have a 1990 e30 conv. its an absolutely wonderful car to drive. I totally agree with you in respect to the feeling you get when you drive this car, or just sit in in for that matter.. On a side note, I also have a 16 VW Golf R, WOW!!! :)
That economy gauge goes very well to the late 2000's. The E61 has it.
"Right up the back, and it's nice and deep"
More videos. Every day I am expecting somethig from you.. c'mnon and hurry up with that m4
Nick thank you for the video!
As far a E30 goees, what is you take on the 1989 325i Cabrio?
Love the 2,5 version, but the auto gearbox is slowing the car down alot. Older auto transmission where really hampering performance alot. The manual version is a pretty fast car even by today standard...very low weight car.
I admire you dedication to this classic car, but that's a lot of valuable camera equipment to be stored in a car w/o a decent alarm system.
Especially in Northland! Talk about gone in 60 seconds! ;-)
Actually the windows do roll up and down automatically if you want them to, all you need to do is hit the switch very shortly, like a light tap. Holding them in is for precise positioning.
I think you are thinking of newer BMW's
what camera are you using
Ha back in New Zealand .where was this filmed ? it looks familiar
Mangawhai Heads, in Northland. I grew up here.
Nick Murray Well if you ever need someone to 'look after' it while you're not in NZ....you know who to call. ;)
Awesome video..I love E30 also...
The video quality is truly excellent, what camera do you use?
im 17 and hoping in a couple of years to buy a e30 325i
alex g did you buy one?!
Did you buy one?
dang, new Zealand is gorgeous man!!!
Oh its the god's chariot! One of my favorit cars, would love to have one again. I'd siggest you to get original recaros maybe reupholster them to the same color, they are so good and make the ride in e30 *so* much more enjoyable.
Thanks, yes I love this car
nick, dunno if u sorted out the head unit but if u didn't, look for a becker traffic pro, it looks very oem (it has even been fitted by bmw on some cars) and it will fit the looks perfectly. Love your car, btw.
Thank you
that's a great car the e30. I have a car back home too that i'd like to restore and drive whenever im there....not as nice as the bimmer(its a 79 Datsun sunny) but its a car I love...its actually my first car. Also drive on the wrong side(or correct side to me lol) down there too.
These used to be cheap as chips in NZ. Manual ones weren't hard to find either. Heeeaps on 320i manuals around. Would love a wee 2 door 328 e30.
I'm currently looking for a 2 door e30 manual.. 320i +! They're not easy to find..
***** In NZ? Yeah this was going back a few years now (5+).
Beautiful car mate.
Gorgeous car and country, i wonder what makes a person migrate to the States from this paradise
You live in Mangawhai Heads in New Zealand!? I know that car park from the first shot! and also that dead end street where you did up close shots with the BMW! :)
Yes indeed, I grew up here in Mangawhai.
Nice review man! Awesome car.. One day I'll buy one ;)
So clean!
Hey Nick what years is the E30? I love that you live very contemporarily yet you value things from the past, very cool!
Hey nick if you don't mind me asking, what do you do?
Very nice :) I would like do something like that with an 840 one day. They are cheap to buy, and then I am sure, you can start spending any amount you want on parts ;)
Hello Nick... I'm about to buy an E30 BMW 325is... How is the fuel economy on an E30... Is it good for a daily drive to work and is it good for long journeys like 6 or so hours on the road? How many litres do you need to fill this car up?🤔
They are pretty bad by modern standards fuel economy wise
hey nick, great vid.
Nick Murray thanks for the info Nick. Love the channel.
gear shifts surprisingly fast
Such great cars.
I'd also get the BBS wheels used on E30 M3s and Golf GTIs on this, that's just me
This auto gearbox shifts pretty quickly! I have an F30 LCI 320i as my loaner car and it's much worse than mine :|
awesome car, would love to have one similar to it
Please make more drivig video of this E30 ! :)
My first car was E30 325i SEDAN automatic, brings alot of memories
I think its inline 6, not flat 6.
