I'm dying over here. E30? Check. Manual? Check. Wagon? Check. Cloth interior? Check. All would be right in the world piloting this gem. Glad I stumbled across this.
Thanks- I really enjoyed your video. I owned one and fully understood every emotion you conveyed. I've read a few of the sarcastic comments below. I'm convinced of two things: These guys have probably never driven a real E30 325i (or M3). And number two: They're probably still struggling to get out of those awful adolescent years...
I can not understand how anyone could possibly put anything said and shown here down. If you don't have anything relevant to add here, just don't! Here you have, as pointed out clearly by the narrator, the most perfect car ever made to this day, in any aspects of engineering and design that is. What is missing here is the history behind this shown touring version coming to life, a surely unmatched story of its own. This here shown model E30 is a perfectly restored masterpiece, the white paintjob is, in my opinion, the only acceptable for underlining the undeniable divine status of this car. Everything about this car is just perfect. None before ore after has come even close. This is the pinnacle of vehicle development. Not accepting this leads to extinction.
I love the E30, I've owned a few, and enjoyed every single one, from the lowly 325e, to the minty stock 325is, to the turbocharged monster 325iX. I've daily driven E30's for the better part of the last decade, and I really can't see myself without one. Only better ones. :)
Man you're absolutely right. On weight, on consumption, on joy and smile. And on stereo as well... 6 years now since I got my 2doors 1986 320i e30, and I never ever turned the stereo on while driving!!! Plus people are forgetting how to drive themselves, with all those elechtronic aids. And forgetting how to do something useful (and enjoyable) is NEVER a good thing. Cheers mate
Hello from tennessee, wanted to let you know how much I appreciated your input on this beautiful vehicle; the 325i. I owned one for 9 years, until someone teaboned me in 2003. I've never owned a vehicle so satisfying then my 325i 4 door sedan 5 speed.
The first BMW I ever had experienced when I was in high school. An all white 87 325is coupe with red leather and a proper manual. Such a car that has won my heart for many years. One day I'll have one with my '02 325i E46 sedan. The E46 would be for the morning drives, the E30 for the afternoon drive back to work/school.
The E30 is a classic shape and that engine sounds awesome. My E36 will never be as loved but I enjoy the sound of the 2.5L engine everyday! And for an old car the handling is pretty good too.
e36 is where bmw started lose the typical looks bmw had for decades and it's where my interest for bmw stops, BUT to its credit, they still had a range of lovely straight sixes then and they still sound gorgeous. BMW used to be almost synonymous for 6 cylinder but since the last generation that is almost but gone.. hello 3 cylinder 318 and 4 cylinder 528i...
I was using my 325iS to take the kids to school, weekend car now. Great for short journeys loaded up or long thrashes by yourself with the sound of that M20 bouncing off rock faces :)
Lots of people look at the e30 in terms of handling, manoeuvrability etc but it is also a very comfortable car to own and is a gift to work on aside from being utterly reliable.
+Doug Halpern It's a Kienzle MCR 1016 BT. I own this radio for two years. It's a German brand (Kienzle-VDO), well made and does have a very good sound and a lot of settings I use it in a VW Golf 6 but it's also a good looking stereo for a youngtimer. Grtz.Jan
I had one of these 325i tourings in Malchette green (how ever you spell it) when I was 18/19, parked next to my 2 baby E30s and my classic E32 735i. I wish I could turn back the clock 12/13 years and have them back. Nice video, and I love the sound of the 2.5 straight 6 one of BMWs best sounding cars :)
While the presenter says the E30 isn't a car for the DIY enthusiast, it actually is a fairly friendly home mechanic car. You need the service manual and the right tools, but the home mechanic can to a lot of service and repair on these cars. Don't let it scare you.
the last GREAT car BMW did, was the e36/5 compact 323ti up to 1999. That car was basically a modern E30, with a proper inline 6. Dimensions, weight, power, and layout were similar to the regular E30 325i. Barely more civilized than the E30, but not by much. After that, even the e46 compact was overly complicated.
Matt Harvey I take that back. BMW didn't make a e30 m3 wagon. Some guy did and its fuckin sick. jalopnik.com/5922050/this-is-the-only-bmw-m3-wagon-in-the-world/
@@AlfrescoStudio I previously owned a Cadillac CTS-V with a ton of money having the LS-2 factory Corvette engine enhanced and the six speed manual made it even more fun to drive, but I would have loved to have had one of the station wagons that were Introduced a few years later. They would run 195 mph stock. I'll be dreaming about one of them tonight.
Replace my E30's stereo with extra VDO gauges years ago :-) All BMW designers should be forced to drive an E30 318iS and an E28 M535i for a month before being allowed to design anything.
Many e30 owners change the steering rack to either an e36 or from a z3 but I still think for reliability purposes the M20 is still great but it lacks the power of the M20 for sure.
You know, I love my 2003 530i, but my favorite BMW if all time ( aside from the E30 M3 ) has to be a well-sorted E30 325i w/ Manual Trans. That car is the epitome of BMW's "Utlimate Driving Machine" philosophy. Long before BMW spoiled the soup with lightened steering, I-Drive, and Chris Bangle making the 5 and 7 Series ugly as sin.
Indeed, best car ever made by BMW. I will never ever sell my E30, not even for 1.000.000$, and keep driving it untill i'm to old to drive a car. Then it goes to the scrapyard and will end as a beer can. :)
Dear Friend. I purchased a BMW 325i coupe from the year 1990. After two months, I started having problems with the first gear. It costs to gear the gear and the gearbox makes noise. Could you give me some advice of what I should review to solve it. Thanks from Chile, South America.
great review...but poor car :( what's with the lack of rev matching on all downshifts? ouch. the whole car lurches every time a lower gear was selected :(
there are cars out there that try i think, toyota gt86, fiat 500 abarth, bmw has made the 1 series. still agree they are not light and simple enough tho xD ive got an e30 but still never driven one :( ahahah bought it not running and its mid build still
love the car but to be honest the M20 sounds god-awful. (excluding the lovely s38!) the s50/M50,S52/S54 generation made a leap towards lovely sounding induction.. and then the s54 finished the job :D
I need to save up enough money to restore one of these beauties. E30-E46 was BMW's golden era imo.
E21 to E36 imo
Same thoughts

Wise Words... the e30 BMW is a masterpiece!
e30 wagons are the coolest e30 spec you can get in my opinion!!
2door coupe is the coolest by the opinion of the vast majority.
You are right on the money...I'll never sell my 90 E30 325IS.
I love the E30, I've owned a few, and enjoyed every single one, from the lowly 325e, to the minty stock 325is, to the turbocharged monster 325iX. I've daily driven E30's for the better part of the last decade, and I really can't see myself without one. Only better ones. :)
WildKarrde you can live without one but you just shouldn’t.
Typing this bullshit sitting in my kashmir 325i limo 👻

A great video showing appreciation for the iconic 325i (E30). The video was well presented and I thought the presenter did great.
I was using my 325iS to take the kids to school, weekend car now. Great for short journeys loaded up or long thrashes by yourself with the sound of that M20 bouncing off rock faces :)
Old gangster but I love his clip thanks to him
I own 2 E30s Both restored and worth every penny . I Smile every time i pass a porch in the hills ,or say they aren't for sale .
Lots of people look at the e30 in terms of handling, manoeuvrability etc but it is also a very comfortable car to own and is a gift to work on aside from being utterly reliable.
Anyone know what stereo that is in there? Blends in pretty nicely wouldn't mind getting one for my e30.
+Douglas Halpern I was just gonna say this. I need one of those stereos badly.
+Douglas Halpern - Kienzle MCR-1014. MCR-1016 is the current model.

How and where We can buy the same stereo he had please can someone help ? I need one badly for my e30
The comment section is amazing. Ask what something is ans someone somewhere knows the exact make and model

I love the E30 but this video started making me really uncomfortable.
Emerson Baur-Swofford hahahahahahahahahaha
Oh my god this guy is good.
His review style and mannerisms are almost to Clarkson spec!
*almost*

I had one of these exactly; 1989, e30 Touring in Alpine White, 5 speed manual, sunroof. I loved it. RHD, though. A great drive.
he in Croatia? or Ozujsko is his beer of choice? :)
very good video!
Great review!
I don't know why, but I just love the look of the E30, and the sound of it's inline 6
jerro95 inline 6??
Good presentation...great video..and a legendary car...
Nice! Ich habe einen E30 325e Coupe ! Es gab nie ein besseres Auto!
I wonder how he would react if he drove an e30 m3.
***** They didn't do a Touring version of that though did they? I like wagons. ;)
Matt Harvey Yes they did.
Matt Harvey I take that back. BMW didn't make a e30 m3 wagon. Some guy did and its fuckin sick. jalopnik.com/5922050/this-is-the-only-bmw-m3-wagon-in-the-world/

Zombie Head I second what the 325i did within the last 25 years.
Nevertheless the late CSMP cars had 370+ hp at 9700rpm.

I don't have a strip anymore. I have a v8 sound track to listen to 🤘.
this guy is terrifyingly scary
Some of us know him IRL, he's not that bad.
What stereo was that ? 👌🏾
Sounds of e30 is so perfect Prue.
I understand your passion, I feel the exact same way.
the only refinement the E30 needed was the M50 + E36 steering rack ^^
Other than that, it's perfect, should be produced again !
Many e30 owners change the steering rack to either an e36 or from a z3 but I still think for reliability purposes the M20 is still great but it lacks the power of the M20 for sure.
IT'S A STATION WAGONNNN!!!! Has the world gone MAD? I feel like I'm in the twilight zone.

perfect car for the family
You Sir ! are a real driver :)
Cost much to run these?
Good taest and good simple is E30 forever.
MB plates Maribor, Slovenia ,niceeee

E46 Bmw 328ci was the car that really made me love bmws. Favorite bmw ever will always be e46 m3. Then e30 m3 that shit is insane
Outside could use a bit of touching up, but that inside look better than new!
Dear Friend.

he should do the new top gear
I disagree. The E34 is the most beautiful BMW ever made
You're both wrong, 635CSi (and I've owned E30, E34, E24).
E34 M5 is just epic in every way isn't it :)
Your all wrong.
Bmw isetta is the best car bmw ever made
I really wish BMW would put the E30 back into production. Mercedes kept the GWagon alive to this day.....
Great video all the same
I can see this car for 10 hours. Love e30 so.
Why a touring /estate? such an iconic car the E30
yes it has peaked!
and what a video :D
great review...but poor car :( what's with the lack of rev matching on all downshifts? ouch. the whole car lurches every time a lower gear was selected :(
First song name pls
So much this.
Modern BMWs are bloated, heavy, overcomplex, oversized and overpriced. I'll be holding onto my 2007 E92 325i for decades.
lol
***** Agree!
+scanspeak00 totally with u brother... I have a 2007 BMW alpina b5... it turns heads
+scanspeak00 e92 is a MODERN bmw
+Vicjo Koper indeed
Best looking car my ass !
these are the exact reasons as to why i bought myself an e36 M3
+rockman547 I had an E36 M3. Although I liked the power it just didnt compare to high quality engineering I missed in previous E30 models I owned.
+DaytonCarCare Yeah E30s are very well built cars
Such a good review
that would go for 20k in the states
Hah this car is registered in Slovenia :P
and still coming to croatia because its better :) lol jk
dooouuuuuuccccccchhhhhh, i love the e30 tho
This car was wrecked a year back. Such a shame!
He reminds me of Jonathan Pie.
I have one of these in M tech )))
GiveWay Motovlog m tech
Is number
No way a modern BMW is better than an E30. The new ones look fat and stretched and are filled with bullshit gimmicks! E30 for life!!
and E39 M5.
I love the e39 m5 but if there was an m5 I would die for it has to be the e28 m5 in black.
Gareth Sassman I'd want the E34 M5 touring in blue.
Dat Person Doe. those are incredibly rare but also a good choice.
Gareth Sassman yeah.
he looks like foxy i was waiting for pete waterman to popup....
I naravno snimano u opatiji.... Cuj lika zuja se pije....
Im from croatia and i have touring too mine is green
there are cars out there that try i think, toyota gt86, fiat 500 abarth, bmw has made the 1 series. still agree they are not light and simple enough tho xD ive got an e30 but still never driven one :( ahahah bought it not running and its mid build still
what is wrong whit that e30 it weighs 1.7 tons wtf. mine weighs 1.1 tons
He was talking about his e46
A station wagon? You pick a station wagon?
This takes itself way too seriously
Great car but the guy really bored me. Just listening to exhaust sounds would had sufficed.
This bloke...
Am I the only one who thinks his car doesn't look good as a hatchback
yes i am the 700th sub :D
weight is 1270kg not 1700
nice car, annoying man
I can't watch this. I sold mine in 2012 and it was loads nicer than this.
love the car but to be honest the M20 sounds god-awful. (excluding the lovely s38!)
the s50/M50,S52/S54 generation made a leap towards lovely sounding induction.. and then the s54 finished the job :D
StereoSoundAgent the e30 is one of the best sound L6 out there I have one and I love the sons of it never heard a better L6
StereoSoundAgent but the one I have is a no cat stock exhaust on my 325i cabrio
I cringed at just about every line he said.
BMW are the worst now with all their plastic bits!!
