I think that this scene is different in the Japanese version is because of the events of 2011, so they have to change the scene. I give credits to Powerhouse Animation for making these very amazing scenes. I like that the Japanese version maintains the crooked castle from the concept arts.

Seeing Dark Beauty Castle slowly contort itself as the paint drains away is something I didn’t think would be creepy to see. Major props to the animation team for taking the time to alter the cutscene that not only feels more sensitive towards Japan (removing the tsunami out of respect for Japan who faced a real life tsunami in 2011), but also looks equally as sick as the international version.

After the Thinner Wave that flooded Wasteland, I’m guessing that the some of the Thinner from the wave may have stayed and given off lingering effects as the Disaster continued ruining everything, kinda like how a tsunami ends.

It's always interesting when games have different versions based on their region. The fact that they went back and redid the animation (and added an entirely new part) for Japan blows my mind.
God I love this game so much.

Simple the thinner wave is straight forward, a wave that removed the toon from the world....but the miasma just gathers and drains the toon causing everything to distort, we just she the castle wilth by the misma ,this give the impression that in the Japanese version it wasn't just a quick wave of thinner that hit the waste land in one swift blow....it was a slow gradual deterioration as the miasma spread

How about reimagining the entire Epic Mickey series by bundling all three games into one comprehensive remaster? This collection would include polished versions of the 3DS game as well. Such a release could not only win over new enthusiasts but also give Epic Mickey the spotlight it truly deserves. This exceptional game has been overlooked for too long and should be celebrated for its creativity and charm.

Now heres a concert that would be "epic" for epic mickey rebrushed:
Combine both U.S and Japanese cutscenes together, with the wave of thinner destroying toons and the lingering smog slowly and utterly destroying dark beauty castle.
It would be an opportunity to give it a more darker tone, give players new content in cutscenes, and would require minimal effort on purple lamps end to create.

I love how they couldn't use a tsunami bc of that one tsunami in japan, so of course it would be better to replace it with a *thinner nuclear bomb*

When this game came out, Japan had suffered a tsunami no to long prior , so they changed the scene as it be a bit controversial to depict a tsunami destroying a toon world when a country just suffered a tsunami

So internationally, the Thinner Disaster was a big tidal wave of Thinner, while in Japan, it was an atomic bomb?!

      @tearay1073 6 месяцев назад +5

When you put it that way, that's so messed up 😭
But I think they changed it for Japan because there was a huge tsunami disaster that year and they didn't want to put it in the game and get cancelled for it. So in avoiding one disaster, they brought up another worse one in the end 😭😭😭

Because when the game came out, Japan was just suffering from a tsunami (a wave that very much like the thinner) so it would've been insensitive to the Japanese viewers.

    My personal theory:
The first difference between the 2 is the shockwave.
I believe an atomic bomb is much more impactful on japanese players than a green wave.
And to replace the animation of the wave, they decided to corrupt the castle, so the cinematic has the same lenght anyway.
    The reality:
@vegetafan9922 gave it in response to my comment

    • @vegetafan9922

It's actually because there was a tsunami in Oshika before the game was to release in Japan so JunctionPoint had to delay the game and reanimate the cutscene since showing Mean Street being flooded would've VERY distasteful after the tsunami.
