Dude, use TBS's exchange program! I just got my Crossfire v2 module and 7 nano receivers FOR HALF PRICE! With their exchange program! It's awesome! Google TBS Crossfire exchange, or something similar! Easy to do, easy to get their new gear! I'm a huge fan now because of this and just the way everything came together so seamlessly! Kinda like updating all Crossfire gear - effortless! 😍🤘 Now they are SMART! 🤔👍
Just recently scrapped all my frsky gear and swapped 25 quads to crossfire and tango 2 as I had a non access setup. As I had to buy new stuff no way would I ever consider frsky again after this access crap. But I'm super happy with crossfire. The range is incredible and binding/updating is so much easier.
It’s amazing how easy binding and updating crossfire is, I didn’t even see that as a big deal until the first time I used it and wow it’s so much better than doing the 3 handed button hold while powering up to bind and pulling out receivers to update firmware 😂
Me to. As and old Frsky user I feel Frsky just doesn't give a nickle to keep old users faithful without using money. TBS took away the 'cheapest' argument from Frsky to, so they have nothing more to go on. Cf is still compatible with older radios to, so I think everybody who wants to keep theyre perfectly working, good old radio is at least considering cf now instead. It's stupid not to, if you want the safest range.
I’ve strangely had two xm plus lose radio connection mid flight to a no fix situation. Also bought a rxsr that doesn’t connect at all. It is properly pinned and de-pinned. I bought three more xm plus.... was educated on Frsky practices, and bought into Crossfire. The kit should be here next week. First crsf build is the @FPVcycle PowerPick 4 w/ the new 2203 motors. Either the rush tank nano or tbs nano 32. Thanks for the info
I am with you! Having spent big bucks on ACCST stuff, I wont be able to replace everything. I have Taranis, Horus x10s and x12s radios and 20+ rx's all in the x8 range. I am very happy with the system and havent had any problems. Please FRSky, we have suported you in the past, your turn to come to the party!
I am converting to Access with my new Taranis QX7S Access radio. Couple of models converted so far and I think it works great! Cant blame them for wanting to upgrade their performance with new and improved technology.
So, I was thinking of buying the "FrSky Taranis X9 Lite S" with the "ARCHER SR6" for my first fixed wing build of Bix3. What do you think? Price for these two is about 150usd.
Honestly, at this point I just want FrSky to crash and burn. I'm going to get Crossfire as soon as I can. Great review, Lee! Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I must admit like you Lee I have loads of RX's on D8 and D16, which I use my Horus radio for, as all these are in my planes. I converted all my racing quads to R-XSR receivers running ACCESS, and all my Freestyle quads to R9MM OTA using my X-Lite Pro. Works well for me.
@@user-yk1cw8im4h Never, crossfire is as good as it gets even if you just fly fixed wing in a park. Less time thinking about loss of signal and more time enjoying your flying. Radio wise I think the Radio Master TX16s is gold.
I am using a Graupner MX-16, have been flying fixedwing aircrafts for 3 years now. Had never a problem with range or anything. And now, starting with multirotors, I fly in my garden (Geprc rocket, changed it to analog), and after like 10 meters it failsafes due to signalloss. Any ideas why? Might it be that the antennas somehow interfere each other (they´re pretty close to each other)? And now I am thinking about buing crossfire, hoping that my range would improve. Does anyone know, if Crossfire supports Graupner?
@@honixfpv2772 Without seeing your setup it's impossible to know for sure but an analogue receiver? That aside having antennas too close to each other or to anything conductive for that matter can seriously reduce your range. As for Graupner, I'd suggest probably not although you'd be better off asking that question in a Graupner user forum.
This is exactly why I bought a multi protocol TX. When I started, I loved FrSky, I loved their radios and loved the accst protocol but because what they've done this passed years with the whole Jumper and Radiomaster radios, plus ignoring us pilots who have invested in D8 and D16 over the years, I stopped buying their radios and going with Crossfire. If I'm gonna start investing again in a new protocol, TX's and receivers, might as well be with a company that won't hurt their consumers. Team Black Sheep, here I come!!!!!
I bought my original FrSky Taranis X9D+ many years ago (about 2012-13 I think). I've never updated its FW. I did try to do that once, but it screwed up all the models I had stored, and none of them worked properly after the FW update ... so I flashed it back to the original v2.0.9 (???) but then still had to adjust all the models, as the attempt at doing the FW update screwed up some of each model's parameters. I swore I'd never make myself go thru that painful experience again. I guess, as long as they continue to make XM+ Rxs, I will be okay if the rest of the FrSky world moves on without me. That's the way its always been in RC. I remember when multi-channel reed sets came out ... sort of ended the single channel days. Then proportional units came out and ended the days of reed/relay systems. Then there was the shifts from 27mhz to 72mzh to 2.4 ghz . Something 'NEW' is always around the corner. Thanks for keeping us old dinosaurs up to date Lee .... Cheers.
Yup, thumbs up to this post. Anybody that's been around awhile knows that tech marches on. Spektrum, JR, and Futaba have all left people stranded with older protocols. FrSky won't put themselves out of business with this. They are the dominant player with ever improving quality and performance.
@@sit-and-fly7785 A lot of people brought JR, Futaba & Spektrum but jumped to FrSky. It begs the question why did they change given how expensive (and 'great') all those radios & receivers were? If you know the answer to that you'll understand why FrSky doesn't have the strong position you think it does and why they're likely to haemorrhage customers like me for quite some time. And while I'm at it just look at all the comments pushing Crossfire. The tide is turning and FrSky is starting to look like they're in a tidal pool, one which is drying out fast.
Yes....FrSky expects it's costumers to have knowledge while failing to put out information needed to acquire it. Down hill from here I'm afraid which is sad as I thought I was getting on an elevator when I got the X10S. Trying to rule the World never works unless people want it....
Of course if you use a PC to back up your models you could just rewrite your models back again. Same goes for firmware. I am a JR user and have been for years but when they gave up DSM2 and split from Spektrum sharing for the DMSS protocol I thought if my tX goes down I have no way of backing up nearly 30 models. Frsky was my salvation and now the system for my big and small electric planes. Golden rule - back up, back up.
I went form higher end spektrum gear to top shelf frsky and to be honest I won't be buying back in to either company... I love my horus and hate the crossfire cripple they did to it and I still have my spektrum kit, but if I'm going to invest in another closed loop company again I'm going to go with TBS the crossfire kit has never done me wrong and at its price point is on par with the rest of the top shelf gear you really do pay for what you get and TBS has never done is wrong like frsky has in recent months... I hope they get there BS figured out and there greed takes a back shelf to doing what they did best but that wishful thinking... sadly... Thank you for your reviews, time and honesty! 🥃cheers🍻
Nice video. At this point I fly strictly with R9. At this time you can buy ACCESS modules and receivers and flash them with the ACCST firmware. If that stops working I will switch to Cossfire.
Do it now before r9 is worthless...i just did, micro module w 3 rx and 6 tennas for $119... +extra 12% off...and v2 module will do 500mw and 1 watt in future firmware ....confirmed
I’m totally with you. Honestly I love my Taranis 2015. I have a huge investment like many other pilot on X receivers, luckily I have a few of them spare so I can continue to build a couple new models. I also bought some R9 and using the flex firmware can be still used with accst. Frsky has done alot good for this hobby over the past years, I really loved the price/performance aspect and flexibility. I have been loyal to them, sadly I feel I have been “repaid” by being dumped out in the cold. Not cool Frsky. I really don’t like the idea to buy a new radio just to use new receivers and if Frsky does not change its mind I will be definitely moving to CRSF.
I will not be jumping on ACCESS protocol anytime soon. I saw this coming about a year ago and stocked up on S6Rs, S8Rs, X6Rs, and X8Rs. I use a FrSky Horus X12S and today just bought a Radiomaster T16S as a backup and as a radio that will talk to all of my receivers in all of my planes and drones. I guess I'll be one of those "old guys" that I used to make fun of because they couldn't let go of 72mhz radios because "they work just fine". I will keep watching your videos to evaluate if and/or when it's time to jump D16 ship in the future.
I gave up with frsky after having an extremely poor experience with R9 gear. Moved to crossfire. Why would I double down on replacing my current gear with more frsky stuff when I just stick with crossfire.
Archer M+ have decent range with telemetry, I paid 12$ for each so I cannot complain. Good upgrade for whoops or small toothpicks with built-in receiver, where crossfire would be overkill. No RSSI output via SBus, but I have hopes this will change in the future as the current ACCESS fw version for the RXSR is finally able to do that.
Same thing happened to me. I added an upgrade ISRM module and passed on the para module. I can run both D16 and access now with my old x10s transmitter. I have in the interim invested in a Crossfire for long range. I keep wondering whether FRSky is viable any longer hanging us out to dry.
Kind of think FrSky is shooting itself in the foot with this one . Wow I just finish converting all my model to FrSky .. Damn them ! Need to buy a new TX? Gutted!
OpenTx not RadioMaster will be the ones trying to Hack ACCESS. I honestly hope they are successful, though I will never buy another FrSky component. Spektrum for my Warbirds CRSF for my FPV Wings.
I admire your gentle way to say: Frsky you did something wrong but this company turned out to be a money maker rather than listening to enthusiast advices. I won't upgrade to 2.0 because they didn't care about the investment we did so far. How unexpected from a chinese company...
Thanks for showing us this. But Frsky burned a bridge with me. Left me holding all of my ACCST gear and then said bye, bye. Or, said buy all new stuff from us, and continue on with Frsky. *Me, I said goodbye to Frsky.* They made absolutely no effort to keep me as a customer. No, ACCST users, we value you, so trade in your old radio and get a new ACCESS radio for half price. Nothing... not even 5% off. No, buy a new ACCESS radio and we'll give you 25% off on new receivers for it.. Nothing! ZERO! So, when TBS said, trade in your R9 module and R9 receivers for up to 50% off Crossfire modules and receivers I said SURE! Sign me up! Got them delivered last Monday! 😁👍 Frsky showed me, and everyone else who loved their gear, that they didn't love us loving their gear! So, because of that, I'M GONE! Sure, I'll continue to use my old receivers with my perfectly fine QX7 with upgraded gimbals. But as far as buying ONE MORE PRODUCT FROM FRSKY - NO WAY! Someone give me the money and still - FORGET IT FRSKY! It's the principle behind it. They showed no interest in us moving on with them! Just "Buy our new gear, because your old, perfectly fine gear, is no longer compatible, moving forward!" Frsky, you reading this? I'm 63 years old, so I've been around the block, and actually was in the electronics business for well over 35 years. I have never seen a company who virtually OWNED the market, alienate long term customers SO COMPLETELY... IN MY LIFE! I'll bet your market share DUMPS in the next year, you've pissed off sooooo many users since this "leave us behind" fiasco! I've seen bad business decisions many times before, but this one TAKES THE CAKE! From market leader to hated in no time at all! Frsky, you are DEAD TO ME! ☠️
Scoot Roter: Same age and views. I'll still use my old Frsky receivers and keep my X9D and Q7 radios. But I jumped ship to the Jumper T16 and now the RadioMaster T16s. I also bought clone versions of Frsky receivers. Frksy didn't like being "frskyed" by Jumper and gave the finger to its loyal customers, by changing to a proprietary system to stop cloning of their equipment. Massive dose of hypocrisy and irony there! 😊
There is one HUGE difference between when FrSky released the X series ACCST protocol and now with the release of the ACCESS protocol. When they released the X series protocol their transmitters also supported their existing D series protocol receivers (including the V series that were able to bind in D mode). With the release of the ACCESS protocol they gave a great big Screw You middle finger to all of their user base who were flying D and ACCST X series receivers. They did relent and provide some X series ACCST support in their ACCESS transmitters, but are still waving their middle finger at those of us who own a large number of D series receivers. Note that the new transmitters COULD support the D series protocol, but FrSky choose not to. It doesn't end there. When FrSky released the bug fix / upgraded X series protocol ACCST 2.x they again tried to lock out the rest of the world with a lie. They told us that in addition to the bug fix the new 2.x protocol also included greater security. The lie is that the greater security was only in the bind sequence - the control link had essentially the same level of security as ACCST 1.x. Fortunately, the 2.x protocol has been cracked and is now available on the multi-protocol radio modules used in Jumper, RadioMaster and plug-in modules for other radios with a JR style module bay. I may try ACCESS if/when it is cracked and included in the MPM project firmware. Until then it is unavailable to me as I am not buying an ACCESS only radio.
Very informative / good post. Question if I may ? What previous receivers do they offer Access for ? I have a 2019 xd plus - but i wont use it in Access mode (even though I have no D series protocol receivers) unless they support the entire RX range of receivers. Definitely agree they have ruined the whole FRSKY experience ...
@@conradtaggart9959 The best that I can determine, of the X series receivers only RX4R, RX6R, G-RX6, G-RX8 and R-XSR have ACCESS firmware. Most (but not all) others have ACCST V2.x firmware in addition to the older V1.x firmware. I may try ACCESS if/when it is cracked and ported to the multi-protocol module in my shiny new RadioMaster TX16S. I'm not buying another FrSky transmitter.
I don't know why for the life of me why anybody would be buying frsky receiver at all anymore after what they've done. If you're a new pilot do not buy frsky at all, save your money and buy a much better system that won't burn holes in your pocket when they decide to change something down the road. Crossfire all the way!
@@harvesterw6805 Sold their customers a bunch of receivers and radios and decided five years later they were going to change their protocol and not make it compatible with anything prior and dropped D8 which was in a lot of your bind and fly stuff. Create a bunch of firmwares and made everything very confusing on top of this. I don't expect they will last.
Lee- so on my new X Lite radio, I should update to no newer than 2.1 to keep the ability to bind to whoops and older receivers? And have a couple of Radiomaster, so......the latest version that will work is. ? Thanks!
2:15 Yes very complicated=time consuming with no information in English worth mentioning... the opposite of TBS Crossfire. Really sad FrSky shot itself in the foot just as it was taking off thinking they could go proprietary and control pricing. FREEDOM!
I bought a new QX7 a few months ago not knowing any of this. When I set up my model, I have the option of ACCST or ACCESS. Does that mean that I can bind to either one? Does it actually do both?
I fly fixed wing LOS, so am happy with range of my current ACCST stuff from FrSky. I'm under impression that my 2018 Taranis X9D Pro SE cannot be upgraded with ACCESS. Is this your conclusion also? If I could upgrade to ACCESS, I'd only consider this based on the info from the FrSky website where FrSky advise that, "..... users can bind the ACCST D16 receivers with a new ACCESS transmitter. FrSky also have the external options (XJT and XJT Lite) for users to bind the older D8 and LR12 receivers." Thank you for all the work you have done on this topic.
Spektrum is forward and backward compatible. DSM, DSM2 DSMX receivers all work with the latest transmitters. The transmitters and receivers are not cheap, but the old receivers work with the new transmitters. I prefer the less expensive Lemon, Redcon or even the HK Orange receivers. The Lemon with telemetry is my favorite. It seems that Spektrum, JR and Futaba are only popular in the States. Can anyone tell me why?
Joe Caraco I have been flying JR since 01. When I got interested in quads I had 4 great radios, purchased one new and three from buddies who upgraded or had to get out of the hobby So with three grand worth of radios, needless to say I was happy with top of the line gear. Fast forward and the ability to hear battery voltage, rssi, and so forth I purchased a X9lite, then found this change from FrSky just came out. The new breed of radios are far less expensive, far more programmable, and have access to all the goodies that programmers can come out with, but my old fashioned JR gear is what my multi thousand dollar giants fly with. So short version = money. Proven track record. Quads crash.....a lot, big fixed wings not too often. Inexpensive fits the quads better than a radio that you could buy 4 to 10 of the new jumpers or X7 class radios.
hey lee i want to use the acher sr8 that can use d16 protocol on my tx 16s with edge would love to use it if possible and would like to see a video on it
I have the tx16s purchased 3 years ago and frsky access receiver doesn't seem to work. am I correct in saying I'll have to upgrade to the mk2 to be able to use access receivers?
Any ideas why registering the Rx isn't working? Doesn't seem to be able to find it.. Xlite Pro updated with newest firmware and no updates available for the archer rs Rx . Thanks and take care :)
I buy Jumper receivers. $12 d16 mode beats Frsky over priced receivers. I have no issue with any of the jumper receivers. I'm in the same boat you are I have a Horus X10.
Can I flash any frsky archer r6 and frsky slim r9mm ota 900mhz to EU/LBT and can i bind it with taranis q7 EU/LBT transmitter? please help me, Im bit confused.
@@Painless360 Me too. I try not to be a fan of anything in general. But I want the best for my quads. I switched recently to micros and wanna collect some info. I heard there maybe is coming a race mode with low latency on those.
Here in the USA, it's some immature jackass named Ryan Macaluso, who is in complete, brainwashed denial. According to him, there are only a few haters who are active on social media making it look like it's worse than it is. You can't talk to the guy without being called a hater. Seriously - it's his automated response. They need to burn, and it's satisfying watching it happen.
I've been away from RC planes for about 7years. Now starting to get back in it (Only invested in XD9+ & XR8 receivers). What radio's would you recommend low, mid and top range for the new ACCESS Protocol? Although a shame about the change, I did already have my noob head aroundish my XD9+. I'll have to basically start again :( Will also check out your already published vids on ACCESS Protocol too..
Avoid Frsky... go with Crossfire! So incredibly superior! If you want a great, and versatile radio, get the new Radiomaster TX16S, and never look back! You can buy it with the Crossfire V2 module, or buy it separately and pop it in the back! I'll bet you can sell your XD9+ and pay for the new TX16S with no new money put in, or very close! Might as well start fresh with the best! I just converted to Crossfire and I'm happy as a lark! 😎🤘
Hi Lee just been and purchased an X7 transceiver so can i use the archer receivers or am i going to find it harder to find receivers for my aircraft as i am just starting out will i need to buy another unit to fly any new aircraft with. checked on new receiver and it has access in it but no menschen of ATS or archer i have had my new receiver for about a month so will it accept archer, plus cannot see any archer receivers with a T antenna so dose that mean i will need to pay extra for it.
Ok so I'm thinking of crossfire and I have bought a Radiomaster tx16s but I now gather that if you buy a frsky receiver with access you can use it on another multi protocol module radio? If so they are no longer encrypted?
Thanks for the info. I’m looking for the Taranis QX7S and a receiver for it. For now I will not need more than 4 channels. What receiver would you recommend? I suppose one of this Archer model?
I fly fixed wing L.O.S and fpv plus quads. I am currently using an old Spectrum DX8 on the dsmx protocol. With the fixed wing fpv side of flying I need more then the 8 channels I have. I was looking to upgrading and was thinking the FrSky Taranis X9D se 2019 was going to be the best way for me to go. Looking at the hate for FrSky now, I'm having second thoughts. From the reviews I've seen on both the new Jumper and Radiomaster transmitters the Q.C and final finish seems poor. Spektrum is out of my price range. I might have to put off upgrading for a year or so to see if FrSky do the right thing by past customers or for the new comer's improve.
I have a Taranis X9D, R9M and a couple of R9MM RXs.I have never had a failsafe and use flex firmware. I’m only now considering swapping to TBS Crossfire, as it looks like I may have no choice If FrySky stop making R9MM RXs or so they are not compatible with Flex firmware anymore?(you can flash flex and use them, at the moment) Has anyone taken the TBS trade in offer in the UK? And is it worth it? Or is it cheaper to buy a TBS Crossfire Mirco TX V2 Starter Set for £114 from a UK RC store?
If that's how FrSky wants to play the game, they will be losing a lot customers in the end. Honestly, they need to reassess this whole business strategy again. This is not the right move.
I’m currently at a crossroads and unsure what direction to go. CRSF or ACCESS?? Since I have a Horus, the CRSF module won’t operate without lower latency unless I swap a transistor. I use 900 MHz almost exclusively and I cannot find ACCST receivers any longer.
ACCESS is the radio protocol. Things like YAAPU is an OPENTX thing and will work as long as the telemetry is coming back to the radio. These new receivers have SmartPort and FPort if so you can send it back to the radio... Happy flying!
I'm like you with quite a large investment in FrSky gear but to be honest I've started to have enough of this proverbial. FrSky's gear is becoming unreliable, they're starting to stiff loyal customers and their radios are starting to look increasingly expensive vs. the competition. And it's because of those reasons I've started to look at alternatives; I tried a FlySky receiver (X6B) for the first time yesterday. I'm using PWM so had to make a power distribution board from stripboard (now there's a video idea) but overall I liked it. Even with the antennas crossed and in a less-than-optimal orientation the RSSI started at 99 and only dropped to 86 once 20ft away and behind two brick walls in a very noisy (WiFi) environment. I found the onboard voltage measurement acceptable and given what you get (RSSI, battery monitoring, 6 PWM channels, apparently good range) the receiver was very cheap (
When Frsky first released the Taranis 5 years ago it was a game changer. OpenTX is super powerful and the radio quickly became a staple for parts of the hobby thanks to its huge 'value for money'. Many pilots feel that FrSky have lost their way and stopped listening to their customers and giving them what they want. By not giving pilots a decent Taranis replacement with colour screen, modern internals, support for things like TBS Crossfire and support for ALL their protocols out of the box, frsky have left enough of a gap in the market for players like Jumper and Radiomaster to make a good living. Frsky stuff is still good but for many pilots who have used their products for a long time feel let down and dissapointed by recent decisions by the company that limit interoperability with 3rd party and legacy Frsky products. My daily driver is still an Frsky X9D+ Taranis... see my kit picks video for more detail... happy flying
@@Painless360 thanks for the reply. I just looked a bit into it and ordered the TBS Crossfire Micro TX V2. Do you think they will stop selling ACCST receivers any time soon ?
Many pilots are peeved because FrSky has started to become fat, lazy and restrictive, i.e. everything they weren't when they started out. Lots of people have noticed the quality of some of their gear isn't what it used to be whilst the competition just keeps getting better and better. And apparently in response to that FrSky's decided to stiff existing customers and introduce a new protocol (ACCESS) which ironically prevents other manufactures from producing either compatible transmitters or receivers. It also renders all previous receivers useless with the new firmware / more modern radios, so if you have a sizable FrSky investment *too bad for you.* Better go out and buy new ACCESS replacements! And then there's their anticompetitive business practices...
Lee, as someone who is new to OpenTX, having just bought my first OpenTX transmitter (Radiomaster TX16S), what are my options for Telemetry capable Rx's? They would be purchased for RC Helicopter use only, so would need to also be able to handle up to 8.4v like the HV servos we often use in helis. Thanks!!
@@Painless360 Thanks Lee, It's a great pity that the X Series is being discontiued then. Are there any other options you are aware of from other brands?
I had some issues with the R8, but others are happy with it. For telemetry my first choice is R-XSR but with older, or the latest firmware. There are some firmware versions that have issues with random failsafe.
Hi I'm still a little confused, I have a older X9D and a Xlite and I use XM+ or crossfire and now that this new receiver is coming out, will i need to update both radios to be able to use this new receiver and if I do update what happens to my old receivers can I still use them or am I going to need to replace all of them. Thanks again for the information and the video.
You can still use all of the stuff that you have. It's only if you want to start using ACCESS you'll find that some of the kit you have may not support it..
Good review of a good product from a VERY BAD company. Most of my fleet is ACC ST, and due to FrSky's business practices, I will NOT support them any more.
I was recently talking to an FrSky rep about my frustration with their decision to break compatibility with non-FrSky integrated receivers with the ISRM 2.x update. I was accused of projecting my opinion and bashing FrSky, because in reality, it was just a side effect, whether intended or unintended. Nearly in the same sentence, however, he compared themselves to Microsoft, and SPI board makers to software pirates. A side effect indeed... The ironic tragedy is that "FrSky" integrated whoops were the last bastion of hope for FrSky, and they burned the house down to kill a fly.
I was a FrSky fanboy and I was ready to buy only Frsky stuff for the foresable future. But after FrSky abandoned their own customers with the ACCESS crap in order to mess with competitors and also how they treat other competitors I will be moving completely over to something else. I will not buy any FrSky stuff in the future. If FrSky is prepared to do this to their own customers now, just imagine what they are prepared to do in the future.
I guess I like many of the other commenters here will not be purchasing any new FRSKY equipment, It would be nice to switch to that DJI FPV but I think i'll just switch to crossfire like everybody is recommending.
@@bobbin69 yeah nope I ain't trusting 50cc models and jets with some random banggood budget special. I just about trust the x10 with xseries receivers but the jumper, hellllll no. I want a radio that's reliable and will last
Oh yes the frsky archer receivers £2 more expensive than an XM plus but with only 1 Antenna. Or lets get a the archer RS OTA for about 2.4x as much money just for diversity. (I might add a crossfire receiver is cheaper) Frysky have no fing idea why people used them to begin with and if they want to start going up against futaba they will fail badly. Right now as a quad pilot i am waiting for TBS tango version with 500mw output and then ill probably just go with that as at least you know your investment will be good for some time to come.
Quite simply this will force me to another radio and not access Frsky. I was heading that way already and the way Frsky has acted is shameful and just confirms that opinion.
FrSky digged their own grave. They ruled the market for long but try didn't respect users and now they pay for it. If I could I'd get rid of all my FrSky gear.
I'm well invested in ACCST and will not buy anymore Frsky. I will fly what I got and change to something else, just not Frsky. I remember when Frsky ripped off others and now they want to change everything and cut off the old users. Not backwards compatibility is a shame and they should be ashamed of themselves!
Does Frsky not realise how they are shooting themselves in the foot big time? If people have to go to other manufacturers like Jumper in order to carry on using all of their Frsky receivers going forward. Talk about making it easy for these multi-protocol tx manufacturers to come in and steal the market from Frsky. It really sucks that if i want to go out and buy an upto date Frsky receiver, it means messing about re-flashing my radio, and breaking all my other models in the process. I love Frsky gear, but they are doing their hardest to make me move away from them in the future. And with regards to newcomers to the hobby, well, if they are like i was a few years back when i got into the hobby, they will research online which is the best to go for - when i did my research Frsky won hands down. But now that Frsky have created so many negative comments against them, i wonder if i would have made the same decision to go with Frsky if i was starting out today? I don't think so. I would be thinking radiomaster or Jumper. Frsky are going to lose sales for many years to come over this mess.
They think they have enough credit to expect people to move along with their suggested upgrade path. But don't realize that the versatility of FrSky has been one of the main things that made them so popular. With Access this simple versatility gets changed into a mess of non-compatible hardware and firmware, and since the competition, like Jumper and Radiomaster offer more simple solutions at a competitive price point, even people who've been using FrSky for years, will consider moving to a different brand.
There is no community except that of fpv pilots that is so whiny. You should keep in mind that there has been a technological shift everywhere. Graupner, Futaba, Multiplex, Jeti and so on. Did they make people cry like that back then too? It would do you good not to invest your money in fancy headstraps for your HD0, 3D printers and cool shirts and caps, then the money will be enough for investments in technology. In general it is alarming that with the current RX prices anyone is complaining. Besides, the FPV market is not FrSky's main source of income... there are plenty of others who deal with it. Come down, everybody.
I think you should stop doing videos on FrSky. Its just my opinion but we all need to teach such company a lesson so that other company are aware of not to do what they habe done.
I also have a big investment in ACCST stuff. If I buy new equipment for a new protocol it's going to be Crossfire.
Now they are SMART! 🤔👍
Ditto! I 2nd that notion!
Yep I’m running crossfire with my old QX7 radio and it’s so good, FrSky have screwed their customers so I don’t recommend them to new pilots anymore.
agreed, why use anything but crossfire
I bought a v2 of the crossfire micro tx. I used to like using Frsky but I wont be buying anymore of their products
I have downloaded and kept a full directory of all the accst v1 firmware for all receivers and modules.
All my FrSky stuff I will keep for as long as it works, but hereafter, FrSky no more.
With this, FrSky just makes it more convenient for people to either switch to a multiprotocol radio, or Crossfire
Jumper T-18pro here I come.
FRSky you should not have abandon your principles. Greed will get you nowhere.
Thank you Lee.
I'm happy I got rid of my Frsky gear and fully invested in Crossfire , best decision I've made so far. Goodbye Frsky 😄
If you are a new pilot - buy crossfire and do not jump on the frsky bandwagon 👍
@@user-yk1cw8im4h Never, crossfire is as good as it gets even if you just fly fixed wing in a park. Less time thinking about loss of signal and more time enjoying your flying. Radio wise I think the Radio Master TX16s is gold.
Yessss! Crsf is KING 👑
🥃cheers🍻
Good choice dude ...i just did same

You will definitely not regret the move crossfire is soooooo much better 👍👍
Just stopped in to say ....
this BS is why i went CRSF...
peace out frsky
Frsky is going to be a thing of the past!! They have absolutely ruined what they had going for them self’s
I gave up with frsky after having an extremely poor experience with R9 gear. Moved to crossfire. Why would I double down on replacing my current gear with more frsky stuff when I just stick with crossfire.
Simple Answer "Crossfire"
Frsky x9d 2019 supports Access and ACCST v2. You can update ACCST v1 rec to V2 if they are D16 capable
Sold my Taranis and switch to jumper t18 and crossfire. I don’t think I’m switching back to frsky
Same thing happened to me. I added an upgrade ISRM module and passed on the para module. I can run both D16 and access now with my old x10s transmitter. I have in the interim invested in a Crossfire for long range. I keep wondering whether FRSky is viable any longer hanging us out to dry.
Nice vid :)
Although it is annoying that loads of people will have to buy new radios and receivers to be able to use access :(
Kind of think FrSky is shooting itself in the foot with this one . Wow I just finish converting all my model to FrSky .. Damn them ! Need to buy a new TX? Gutted!
I use the X10 TX, with the FRSky OS, I should look at upgrading to make sure they all work. Thanks for this video 👍🏻
Thanks brother believe me our not but all my quads have xm+ recievers. I just now ordered my first Archer to test with my frsky x-lite pro
All I would like to say to Frsky is thanks for the shafting. I wonder if RadioMaster will be trying to add Access protocol to their module.
*Me, I said goodbye to Frsky.*
They made absolutely no effort to keep me as a customer.
Frsky showed me, and everyone else who loved their gear, that they didn't love us loving their gear! Just "Buy our new gear, because your old, perfectly fine gear, is no longer compatible, moving forward!"
Frsky, you reading this?
Go crsf i just did ...v2 module w 3 rx. And 6 tennas ...for $119
@@flo-ridafpv5713 awesome. Just swapped in 2 R9 txs and 4 receivers for new crossfire nanos. Such a good deal.
Great video but could you do one to show how to register, bind and attach to an FC? That would be so helpful. Ty.

In UK Spektrum is NOT backwards compatible. New radios from 2016 are DSM-X only. DSM-X radios before 2016 were BC.

The latest X7 radios come with support for ACCESS (Archer) and ACCST (X series) receivers out of the box so you should be fine.. best of luck!
Ok so I'm thinking of crossfire and I have bought a Radiomaster tx16s but I now gather that if you buy a frsky receiver with access you can use it on another multi protocol module radio? If so they are no longer encrypted?
Any FrSky receiver you buy now will have ACCESS firmware on it so it will be incompatible with any current multiprotocol module.
How are the small 4ch ones on 1s?
I’m only now considering swapping to TBS Crossfire, as it looks like I may have no choice If FrySky stop making R9MM RXs or so they are not compatible with Flex firmware anymore?(you can flash flex and use them, at the moment)
Has anyone taken the TBS trade in offer in the UK? And is it worth it? Or is it cheaper to buy a TBS Crossfire Mirco TX V2 Starter Set for £114 from a UK RC store?
If that's how FrSky wants to play the game, they will be losing a lot customers in the end.

I found the onboard voltage measurement acceptable and given what you get (RSSI, battery monitoring, 6 PWM channels, apparently good range) the receiver was very cheap (
just bought taranis qx7 recently but it seems like frsky is getting lot of hate here. Anybody would explain to new guy why is that ?
Thanks!!
I use X series on pretty much everything here and the telemetry works great... The Jumper R8 is good if you are a Ardupilot pilot..
@@Painless360 Thanks Lee, It's a great pity that the X Series is being discontiued then. Are there any other options you are aware of from other brands?
It's not discontinued. See the video. Just no longer developed...
@@Painless360 Sorry Lee, I missunderstood what you meant.
Most of my fleet is ACC ST, and due to FrSky's business practices, I will NOT support them any more.
already on trouble xm+ ON QX7 DOES NOT WORK ,TOO DAD FOR FRSKY, AIM NOT BYING FRSKY ANY MORE
I was recently talking to an FrSky rep about my frustration with their decision to break compatibility with non-FrSky integrated receivers with the ISRM 2.x update.
They have sadly lost the plot. Such a shame..
I dont like that strategy of Frsky against the JUMPER............
The minute I can't get x series receivers anymore for my x10 I'm just gonna get a damn jeti ds12 and be done with this mess lol
Get a radiomaster tx16s and crossfire. Way better
@@bobbin69 yeah nope I ain't trusting 50cc models and jets with some random banggood budget special. I just about trust the x10 with xseries receivers but the jumper, hellllll no. I want a radio that's reliable and will last
MTL FPV a radiomaster will :)
@@bobbin69 lol
MTL FPV enjoy wasting money on an old radio
Oh yes the frsky archer receivers £2 more expensive than an XM plus but with only 1 Antenna.
Or lets get a the archer RS OTA for about 2.4x as much money just for diversity. (I might add a crossfire receiver is cheaper)
Frysky have no fing idea why people used them to begin with and if they want to start going up against futaba they will fail badly.
Right now as a quad pilot i am waiting for TBS tango version with 500mw output and then ill probably just go with that as at least you know your investment will be good for some time to come.
Should be called NO ACCESS
Or "Access Denied" ;-)
👊👊💪💪
Quite simply this will force me to another radio and not access Frsky. I was heading that way already and the way Frsky has acted is shameful and just confirms that opinion.
FrSky digged their own grave.
They ruled the market for long but try didn't respect users and now they pay for it.
If I could I'd get rid of all my FrSky gear.
No ACCESS, switch to Crossfire...
Then, they'll probably change it all out again when "REMOTE-ID" goes into affect......! =)
👍👀🇭🇷
Crossfire has issues too.
Thank you for the great commercial, but I will not buy. No more FrSky while they play like this.
I think you should stop doing videos on FrSky. Its just my opinion but we all need to teach such company a lesson so that other company are aware of not to do what they habe done.
Check my channel - the recent videos are more about raising awareness of the pitfalls then anything else ;)
