I just purchased my first FrSky X20S. Thanks for a straightforward video on binding the RX. Can't wait to start moving my fleet of planes over to FrSky from Futaba. Lost 3 planes recently all on Futaba but different protocols so I really wanted to move to dual band. Almost went Jeti but with 50+ aircraft Jeti would break the bank on receivers for dual band.
Good morning Lee. Thank you very much for your regular visitation to this new (for me) radio system. I am very interested in getting back into rc planes (FPV) and have my eyes fixed on the Frsky Ethos radio system. This series of you explains it clearly and I am very excited that I have found the radio I have been searchin for. I have watched all your other videos since I subscribed and like the wide variety of topics and your clear explanations of them. A real goldmine for the future. Regards from SA
Hi Lee not sure where to post this question. So I have a Taranis X9D Plus and a ARCHER PLUS R6 Mini | R6 Mini-E and I have successfully bound the receiver and it works. However mine has two built in ESC for direct motor control and I have connected a motor to each they both power up when Ch3 is operated but I would like them to be independent so that I can use thrust control for steering. I believe ESC1 and ESC2 can be assigned to separate channels in ETHOS but can in be done on my Taranis. Cheers steve.
For LOS flyers (and some basic fatshark scout FPV) and spektrum transmitter and spektrum receivers, will F4 flight controllers be compatible? Trying to move into inav and gps and osd world. Thx : )
You can use the radio with systems like INAV. You can use a multiprotocol module on the rear of the radio now to talk to some Spektrum recievers. I would use one of the little ACCESS recievers that are perfect for flight contollers.. Happy flying
I was wondering if the Pixhawk works with the Access receivers. I couldn't get my R9SX to talk to respond in Qgroundcontrol. I switched to a different receiver and it worked fine.
Hi! I guess there is no such thing as mix and match? I mean binding a Access receiver and have a TD (such as the TDMX) for redundancy? Is it all access or all TD? Thanks
I just got a tandem x18. I followed your simple steps to register and bind an access receiver, but in my scenario the transmitter (internal module, access registration mode) just sits there waiting for the receiver (grx8/access). I set everything up according to your access receiver instructions. I even tried to register a different receiver (an S8R) and still get the same thing. Any suggestions we?
Hi I have just come across an anomaly between the x20s and the x20 Pro when you select external antenna on x20s it states to put antenna into ant 1 for 2.4ghz but when you select external antenna for 2,4 on the x20 pro its states socket antenna 2? I am making assumption that frsky would have no need to change position of the 868mhz and the 2,4 between the two radios. Could you confirm if this is indeed correct or if there is an error in the firmware between the two.. Regards Barry
When you register, the RX is associated with the TX. At that point you can bind to any model without touching the bind button. That doesn't sound all that useful, but actually registration associates the RX with the _owner ID_ in your TX. This means you can buy a second ACCESS TX, configure it with the same owner ID as your primary TX and then all of your RXes will be registered across both (kinda the like the ELRS binding phrase). If you wanted to switch over to your backup TX for a particular model, you just need to bind the RX to the model slot (now super easy, just press bind on the TX and then power on the RX). Under the hood: 1. Each TX has a unique owner ID (configurable, so you can make all of your TXes have the same ID). 2. Registration writes that owner ID into the RXes memory, meaning the RX will accept binding requests from TXes with that owner ID. 3. Binding activates an RX on a particular model slot (I'm not sure of the mechanism here - whether the model ID is written into the RX memory or the RX ID is written into the TX memory). I just figured all of this out myself, hence you get a fresh brain dump 🙂.
Hi. I’m very new to FrSky/Ethos. I’m a Spektrum user. So I just received my X20 with the TD R10 receiver. Following your step by step procedure on the bind process. Everything went smoothly. But when I plugged in a servo to channel 1, the servo just keeps pulsating. Same thing on channel 2. Also when I go to “set” after binding, the radio says “no response from the receiver “! Why is this not working right? Is it because I haven’t updated my firmware? It’s over a year old. 1.0.9 FCC. Dated June 15, 2021. So obviously Horus sent me a very old stock! 😡 I also just ordered a new laptop computer which is arriving next week. So do I have to update the firmware first to get the system going smoothly? Appreciate your help and advice. Thanks!
@@Painless360 hello. So I’ve updated the firmware on my radio to the latest version. I went thru the register and bind process step by step with success per your video. I also assigned channels to the different control surfaces in “outputs”. Did the binding process several times. Connected a servo to channel 3 (throttle). Moved the throttle stick and nothing happens. Went to “outputs” to check movement, nothing either. Once again, am I missing something? My TD R10 receiver light is rapidly flashing blue. Please advice. Thanks.

Do yourself a favor and don't give frsky your money

Check out videos on setting up differential thrust. Best of luck with it.
Pretty interesting process indeed, Lee! 😃
Thanks for the tutorial!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Thanks much, great channel 👍
I have an rc sailboat, I want it to have a great range. Can you recommend a transmitter and receiver to achieve a long range.
I'm not sure about ground vehicles but lower frequencies work better for aircraft... Best of luck

Should do. Use SBUS... Happy flying
Well done, Please also show how to update TD r10 receiver firmware via S-port
Hi just wondering,is it possible to use Tdmx reciever as a back up for r8 pro reciever?
Hi! I guess there is no such thing as mix and match? I mean binding a Access receiver and have a TD (such as the TDMX) for redundancy? Is it all access or all TD? Thanks
I'm not sure, I've not done anything with the FrSky stuff since these videos. Best of luck.
Hi @painless , this Radio can combine with CRSF ELRS module right ?
It should do, they added CRSF support in ETHOS after I asked them to, but I don't know how good it is... Happy flying
@@Painless360 oh, nah, did you try to add module ERLS for tandem X20 ?
I've not. If you don't already have the Frsky radio, and want to use ELRS, I'd get a RadioMaster... Best of luck
@@Painless360 oh, my thanks ^_^
CAN YOU BIND SPEKTRUM RECEIVERS WITH FRSKY X20S
Yes using a multiprotocol module... Happy flying

Nothing sure. I'd contact the vendor for support. Best of luck with it.

I can't confirm as Frsky no longer talk to me. I'd ask a Frsky reseller. Best of luck
Hi Lee what's the advantage of the 2 steps (register and bind) rather than just binding in asst?

one question if i am using dragonlink receivers?
I have no experience with Dragonlink. Best of luck
Hi Lee, I was wondering if the same receiver can be used on Radiomaster tx16s?
ACCESS and Tandem are not supported by the multiprotocol modules. They are closed, proprietary systems. Happy flying!

I'd start at the beginning of the series. Update should be step one so you are running the latest version of the firmware on the radio... Best of luck

shouldnt it be 868 for uk?
Same as all other systems that use the 900M frequency (Crossfire, R9M etc)
Alıcın kaç km menzil var
Menzil burada Birleşik Krallık'ta yasal olarak sınırlıdır, bu yüzden buna cevap verecek kişi ben değilim.. İyi şanslar.
