That is one of the best advice on drawing folds I have ever heard, and it's so simple. xD And even though it's the same technique as learning almost anything else, sometimes you need to see or hear it before it clicks.
You just made me realise something that I hadn't really consciously known I was doing. When I work from reference, I do something like the first technique. Where I do a fairly accurate construction of forms. But when I'm just loosely sketching from my noodle, I do something much more like the second technique. Where I just sort of guess some smoother tension points. It's probably why I always feel a little unhappy with studies I've done. They're lacking that suggestion and are probably laboriously rendering aspects that maybe aren't that important. I'm going to have to pay attention for that now.
Im just 15seconds in and i just wanted to say how much i love your videos, and i feel like youre so much more confortable now, theyre more fun, more creative and just more you! ❤
i have such a hard time drawing full bodies on digital (me and my tiny little screenless tablet) so i might do this as a way to get better at that ! lovely challenge
I actually rarely ever watch art videos until the end because I get bored and space out after a while, but goddamn man you do manage to keep me hooked until the end I love your voice and charisma, you're the type of person that i can see being a great art buddy to spend an afternoon with, just doodling and talking
Me: "hey this challenge is so interesting! Fall is my favorite season after all!" Also me: *lives in a tropical country and had never experienced fall all my life* Thanks so much for the tutorials btw, they're super helpful and eye-opening to me! 👍
Thank you so much for the challenge and tips, especially with exaggerating shapes and simplifying folds. I really want to join October drawing like others but Inktober seems a bit too much for me since I'm still beginner and not comfortable with my own stuffs. This is like the perfect challenge. I will joinnnnn
Omg hello! I've been teaching myself drawing this quarantine and I've been trying my hardest to learn anatomy and stuff so that I can draw and design characters. I've watched half of the video and I've learned so much already so I want to thank you so much for the advice! Not to mention you took the time to make a video and share such nice tips without asking for anything in return. So thanks again! I'm honestly and genuinely grateful to you for making my art journey easier and more understandable, even for a dummy like me, lol. God bless u! :D
the way you seem to be able to get lost in a drawing really easily is super inspiring for me, I want to be able to just slip into that state of mind easily as well, just gotta keep studying
I love your videos Ahmed, I just found you this year but your videos have been instrumental in improving my art. I’m noticing a difference in the way I approach and think about my art after 5+ years of struggling. That being said, I enjoy all your videos, even if they’re not tutorials or challenges. Keep on being awesome!!
This is just PERFECT! I suck at clothing and will def pick this challenge up and record the process! I still havent done the meds 100 heads because im *cough* scared *cough* but Ill tackle it soon enough!
What is the orange layer you have locked? I assume it's what's giving the lines the orange hue? how did you get it to look like that ( what blending mode and opacity?) very pleasing and would like to know how if you don't mind. :)
You made some brilliant points and I really wanna try out this challenge too! I just wanna say, that click the like thing at the start was so funny but I forgot for a second I had already liked the video so I went to like it again and unliked it lol. All good now x) I love your content, and I really enjoyed this video in particular ! I've got a lot to think about now.
What do you find to be the most difficult part about drawing clothing and costumes?
Paterns
Folds!
Hmmm probably capturing different materials
I feel often undecided! And when I have an idea I am overwhelmed where to start
Oh! Maybe this challenge will help with that

A challenge that I think it can be useful is to draw many full-body poses in dynamic positions I made a bunch with photos from different sports 😉
