    I am in absolute AWE of that MMC array!!! Design is a stroke of genius!!!

    That's awesome. I have not seen capacitors like those for less than $6 each, ouch! I just recently got a few for DRSSTC experiments, and am impressed that they can run a long time without heating up much. Mine is nothing like that, it's powered by my bench supply and uses IRFZ40s as the switch. Best spark so far is about 3 inches. A long time ago when I had more $$$ and the parts were cheaper, I built a few spark gap coils. At that time the capacitors were round white mica things which weighed a few pounds, and the power supply was usually 6 to 8 KV. Some of my friends were worried about me. I have become kind of a klutz as I got older, so maybe I should not build spark gap coils any more. I have always wanted to build 2 synced together like that, and now making them play music is also possible. My first one is controlled by a Picaxe 08M2, and I am working on a music program for that. Anyway, well done!

    This is a really good video, I'll happily admit that I'm a novice with High Voltage stuff but I feel that I have a basic understanding of Gemini now. I'd love to see this video re-made to show the new changes! Good job. :)

    MMC, yes. I want one. It would be so useful to be able to have one for all and any coil.

    I have heard that the spark from the coil is absolutely safe, meaning no harm can be done to any human or animals. Also that it creates ozone layer which cleanse the whole atmosphere or the surrounding around it. May it be true?

    • @daveharpe
      @daveharpe 7 лет назад +1

      Basically true. Most Tesla coils put out so little current that you can hold a key in your hand and let the spark hit it, and just feel a tingle. If you let the spark hit your skin, that hurts, don't do that. A friend of mine built one with a 1KW neon transformer, and it produced so much ozone we had to leave the room after a few minutes of running. It really produced an incredible halo of sparks, quite a show.

    Great vid. I already understand basic Tesla coil theory, but, it's always nice to see and hear such a well delivered explanation. On a totally unrelated topic... does that MMC array give anyone else a hard on???

    Is the motor a single phase motor? What is the rated rpm of the motor? if its a standard motor it would be a 4 pole with a sinc speed of 1800 rpm and a rated speed," the actual rpm", of 1750 rpm.

    Yeah, well Daman3456, I would say that 10 KVA (that's roughly 10,000 Watts) is plenty of power. The transformer by itself would definitely do the job, but a Tesla Coil that big supplies plenty of voltage AND current. The only reason a Tesla Coil doesn't kill you is because it's high frequency.

    yes i agree but two major american research institutes in conjunction with a russian nuclear research agency have found slow decay chains which point back to a source element of atomic number 115, if a stable isotope can be isolated (which they think exists) introduction of i high energy proton releases more antimatter per energy unit input.... wow!

    What i keep wondering about the coils is if the power generated can be stored in batteries, but no one seems to mention it.

    • @rtdlaboratories
      @rtdlaboratories 6 лет назад +1

      The coils themselves don't generate any energy, plus it would be pretty difficult to make a million volt battery. A much better solution would be to make a smaller battery bank, and use the incoming 240 volts (what they use to power the pole transformer) to charge it.

      +Thor, Supreme Commander of the Asgard Fleet yes

    • @MrRedeyedJedi
      @MrRedeyedJedi 5 лет назад

      You will always lose more energy than what you put in with anything. Tesla coils are no exception. I hear electrical motors can get pretty close to 100% effieicent, however, as when they reach a certain speed they also begin generating their own power, reducing resistance considerably. Even then though to get that close to 100% the coils would need to be gold and the whole thing put in liquid nitrogen.

    i love how the hertz problem still exists today... it proves pretty much every single person building tesla coils has absolutely no idea how far "resonance" actually goes.... just because the line voltage is at 60 hz and the power supplies run at 60 hz... the system is still dissonant with the "atmosphere"... the atmosphere is NOT resonant with 60 hz... you can tell if someone has a "resonant" coil when the discharge is closer to violet...not blue...sound,colors,light etc.. all have "octaves"

    It's too bad no one is controlling all that mass break out/discharge and putting it into capacitance. Thus turning into propagation/sound. Transmission of the media or the medium's, meaning air, solid, liquid. So if this is the case, the quote by Nikola Tesla makes sense. Sound is vibration of matter. No one has turned a Tesla coil into wave propagation. Written by: Justin Aldrich.
    "If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy frequency and vibration....." Nikola Tesla
