- I have one of my Matucana madisoniorum forma albiflora CACTUS Plants in flower in Mid September 2020.
🌼🌼It's the WHITE FLOWERING TYPE!

They grew NEW flower BUDS purely under one of my grow light bars, and then weather changed putting a halt on the growth... Weather got warmer again and one of the buds decided to grow even more, resulting in this BUD TO FULL BLOOM VIDEO....
🌼Also I try pollinating the flower.

As I said to Lyn in my email reply today... I hope the Matucana will be okay because I took it out of its nursery grown pot and it didn't have many roots 😆

Oh WOWSERS what an absolute BEAUTY Claire :-D I really LOVE Matucana's and a white flowering one is on my future wish list haha, I will keep my fingers crossed you get a successful pollination, it definitely looks like you have a fruit pod starting to form, we have seed pods forming on our Matucana polzii and we will be sending you these with your other cactus seeds very soon :-D thanks so much for sharing the beauty from bud to bloom and sending you lots of love and happiness and FLOWER POWER from across the sea for a sunny Sunday today XXXXX

Daz and i watched this video together, Claire and we enjoyed it very much! 🥰 We were so skeptic on the success of the pollination but towards the end we were amazed and pretty sure that a miracle just happened. 🥳 the bloom looked so much like an Echinopsis’ flower. Did you happen to get a whiff of its scent? 🥰
@@edithcoliagrandis Thank you for watching😊👍 Actually I kept checking the flower (giving it a sniff😆) at different times of day)(my Mum actually reminded me to check it for any fragrance... I tend to forget to smell the flowers for some reason🙄) but no, it never seemed to have any fragrance at all, just that sort of normal 'plant smell'😆 Even at night there was no fragrance either. Yes I thought that too, the flower is like a cute little echinopsis flower, it does look similar.
It will be great if I get seed.

Lovely flower. Petals look sparkly.
It does glisten in the sunlight, petals are like a Gymnocalycium, silky sheen to them. 🌵😁👍🌼

The 2 last photographs at the end of the video were taken this afternoon, actually... so the bud is at that stage so far. It does look fuzzy and plump already so quickly, I read that this Matucana does tend to quickly develop it's fruit in short time frame and even from as little as one month, it can be ready; turns dry brownish and crispy (no pulp👍) 🌵🌼🌵🌼🌵🌼🌵😁
