Finally I found a Malaysian RUclipsr for Lithops. Every video I've watched are not weather/temperatures friendly to our weather/temperature. I'm a Malaysian living in Bangkok at the moment. I'm also a new Lithops mama and already have a few in my collection but they are still tiny. Thank you for your video.
Hi, thank you for this educational video. If the lithops come in potted form, not bare rooted, so when I repot, should I trim the roots? May I also ask for your soil mix. Thank you & God bless!
If potted form and there is still space for growth there is no need to report them. If you plan to report them, yes I would suggest you go through all the steps. Soil for young liptops needs higher peat moss soil, 40 grit and 60% grit/stones 1-2mm.For bigger Lithops you can go with 60-70-% grit 1-2mm and add 40-30% peat moss soil.
Watering of lithops or conophytum when you see obvious wrinkles. The body is filled with water, any additional unwanted water given will burst the plant and kill it.
This is very helpful, you mentioned tropical, then that means that also applies to our country as well, PH 🇵🇭, greetings and thank you for the info. Killed 5 and I don't plan to make the same mistake again.
Thanks for sharing, taking care lithops in tropical climate. I wanna ask, is that true that lithops need cool night? If they dont get cool night, they only can survive for a short term, 1-3years only.
So far I put them under shaded spots. Malaysia cool nights are around 26-29 celcius. That is not as cool as we would like to give the Lithops, but they do ok so far. Very important is ventilation with air breeze. Indoor Lithops can be challenging if ventilation is not achieve even with the use of fan. Lithops just like any other plants love the natural nature.
@@andikasuryananda7586 I am sure you can do it. Don't give up. Just don't water unless it is qrinkly, sometimes for months they don't need water. I have some that don't need water up to 6 months. Observation is important when it comes to watering needs, hold back our hands when don't need water. When the spot you put them is getting high heat, move them to a cooler spots. We both have high humidity with high moist in the air vs cold countries with dry air.
Hi, thanks for the video! Very useful information. I'm from India. I have a green lithop that was recently purchased. The body seems a little too wrinkled and I'm worried. Also it feels squishy. It would be great if you could suggest a care.
@@justkeepitsimple3096 I hope it's a sign of new growth. But it seems more like sits getting stretched in between with wrinkles at the top. Gets me wondering if i overwatered the plant
@@justkeepitsimple3096 thank you. I repotted my new Lithops. Shall I water them after one week even if they are not wrinkled? I followed what you did- cleaned the roots.
Hi I got a bare root lithop that’s shedding, do I just stick it into a pot and not water it? Can the roots die if I don’t give water to encourage root growth? Thanks
Hi Mary for the late reply. i hope all is good with your water therapy lithops. After water therapy i would just let the roots dry for 4-5hours and then repot them.
Thank you so much for this video! I couldn't find much information on southeast Asian climates for growing lithops. I was just wondering if lithops will ever flower in Malaysia's climate?
Hi, I plan to buy lithops soon, hv no experience yet, should I buy the smaller about 1.5cm or 3 cm for a beginner? Once I plant it do I need to watering it or wait after 1 month? Thanks for sharing
You can mist soil and plant them after Lithops cut roots have callus in 2-3days or you can do deep watering. But for beginners I suggest soil misting before planting in the Lithops.

Is the Lithops shedding? Can you feel a new growth inside. Wrinkle and squishy is a shedding sign.

Do you water them after repotting them and cleaning their roots?
I don't water them after I repot them. I brush clean roots, without water. I water my repotted lithops after 1 week

Can I use only pumice for lithop?
I have tried using pumice only, roots do grow. this is suitable for mother lithops and not suitable for young lithops.
@@justkeepitsimple3096 for young lithops, would you recommend the fine grade pumice? or what would you recommend exactly (for baby lithops?)
@@ErnestoTheThird for young Lithops mix about 40% of soilsince the roots are fine
Do we need to put fertilizer etc for the roots?
You can add a bit of slow release fertilizer into your soil mix for plant growth. Roots you can add rooting powder to encourage root growth

Hi Suzie. Add rooting powder into your soil and lightly mist the soil and plant the Lithops in.

After water therapy and root growth, you can plant it in straight into the soil.

Thanks Steven. Have been working on improving the recent you tube. 👍
The way u plant them are not correct. Especially the left one. Soil not even half from the pot. Should be same level like the pot.
Thank you for pointing it out , everyone has different ways of soil levels preference. It is a good advise.
Sorry I have difficulty hearing you with that music going, it's overpowering. A shame as I'm a newbie and this is what I'm looking for.
sorry for the background music, my bad.
Same here. I tried to use closed captions but it wouldn’t work for some reason
