    We finally did it we lifted a class A RV! Well kind of, Its a class A body on a class C chassis. If it has a class c chassis that means WeldTec Designs can put a rad suspension lift kit on it. Jeremy takes this Thor Vegas for a test drive in stock form and noticed huge red flags in the performance of the handling and suspension overall. The RV wants to pull to the left, clearance issues getting in and out of steep driveways and the sway. Lucky for this Thor Vegas its getting a WeldTec Designs 4" lift kit to help alleviate those issues and make this RV ride the best it ever has. We set up suspension cameras just to see how our suspension kits just eat up the road making for a smoother ride, with improved clearance and no more sway. My vote is for the Vegas/Axis. We have the 2022 - 24.1 Axis and are in need of this conversion. I wish WeldTec was in WA state. The Axis is wonderful and has a great layout. It is easier to drive than our previous 2019 Class C Chateau and is MUCH quieter inside! The Axis has more room than the Class C and is about the same size. It is, however, very bouncy with the stock shocks, etc (especially on the California highways). And, we do seem to scrape driveways and other low spots with the rear of the RV as it is currently. A lift would be fantastic. A conversion like this will make it almost perfect! Thanks for the video, I will be saving it for reference!

    This is great info! Wanted to ask... my 2015 Thor definitely needs a lift, but a lot of what I have read on tightening the roll (and high-speed highway or blow-by drift), can apparently be fixed fairly easily by the end user by replacing the factory sway bars with aftermarkets (Like Hellwig). However, it doesn't appear as if you replaced them on this RV... was that due to budget, labor, or are the sway bars a moot point if you have better springs... - OR - or would it be best to replace the springs and sway bars?
    Could you give your opinion on estimated improvement percentage on general driving and ride comfort for
    1) the upgrades you did on this one
    2) sway bars only
    3) both 1 and 2
    4) anything else that may improve drive/ride and percentage
    Thanks!!

  • @mikehays1167
    @mikehays1167 Год назад

    Yeah, the stock suspension definitely is lacking. It’s actually lopsided. You can measure both sides near the rear wheel wells and it will be different measurements. Also, after the suspension upgrade our slide extended and retracted without any issues where as before, I had to always bypass the computer.

  • @cmharris67
    @cmharris67 2 года назад +1

    Ooo we were wondering if you could lift one of these. It’s been suggested that you wouldn’t want to do any crazy off-roading with one because of the torsion on that windshield but this would be perfect for fire roads and general clearance issues. Plus these start out only 11 ft high so you can still get under 12ft bridges and garage doors!

    I'm picking up a Vegas this weekend. This looks like a great start! What about having the wheels further out to give it a wider stance to match the lift? Not much room in the front I'm thinking because of the small wheel well and rubbing. Have you guys tried that? Also, I've lifted a few trucks and it KILLS the fuel mileage. Have you.guys gotten feedback on the Axis's or Vegas' you've lifted?! Thanks!

    Nice Video. But 1st thing to ck is the HIGHT of your RV, This one is only 11 ft stock. So those 4-6 inches shouldn't cause any problems. But some Class A's are close to 13 ft, so exercise caution. The Law says vehicles should be no higher than 14 ft.

    I looked into Weldtec doing a 4" lift on my class-C. With the installation it would have been well over $8,000.00 bucks.
    Unfortunately that is too cost restrictive for most, and not worth the investment in a used 2018 Class-C. Disappointing!!

    • @WeldtecDesigns
      @WeldtecDesigns  2 года назад +1

      It's not for everyone, but we would definitely argue that an RV is a large investment and the benefit of our suspension kit far outweighs the price.
      Our 4" kit starts at $3,500: weldtecdesigns.com/product/wtd-ford-e-series-class-c-rv-4-suspension-lift-kit/
      If you want it installed with all the bells and whistles i.e. wheels, tires, bumpers, etc. obviously the price tag is going to grow accordingly
