    We have been working on changing our setup to manufacture trailer lift blocks faster. This is how we are doing our setups and how we manufacture them now. The process has been quite interesting to go through and I have ‪@Abom79‬ to thank. His channel has taught me quite a lot over the last few years and when I reached out to him to help me purchase some tooling and coolant, he was quite awesome and helpful. Thanks

    Loved watching how you fabricate these! I just ordered a kit for my 5th wheel camper and look forward to installing. My grandfather owned an auto repair shop back in the day and would fabricate lots of parts he needed for the cars he worked on and I always regret not taking his metal working equipment when he retired and getting into that.

    I've been a fan of Adam for a long time, watching almost every video he's put out. I'm really glad you got to get some help from him with your machine. He really knows what he's doing, and it looks like you've really streamlined your process now. I've been watching your channel for a while, and I enjoy the content. 👍👍

    I watched Project Farm before coming across to watch you Adam and today he was testing what I feel is the absolute perfect time saver for you, Annular Cutters. They cut the perfect sized hole for you, using an existing drill press, without having to drill 3 different times to end up with the hole size you want. I'm sure your fancy new drill press would be able to take the annular cutter heads. Truly hope this helps :)

      interesting, i'll have to look at that. we drill 14mm then into 5/8 so having a step down sized drill bit would be awesome.

    Awesome! It's great to see someone learning the trades and experiencing the joy of it. And you will never stop learning. With machining, there is always different ways to accomplish the same task. So you will get lots of comments on "how" to do it. Pick the one that works best for you. Regards.

      yes, we have changed our setup a few times now. Every time I would fabricate for a few hours we'd change things again and again till we got our current setup. One of the reasons why there was such a long gap between when I started the video till I finished filming it.

    Thanks for showing us the improved parts and your process. You may want to reconsider wearing gloves while running a drill press. You can easily get caught up if the lands on the bit touch your gloves. I’ve seen it happen to someone I worked with and it’s scary at best and dangerous at worst.

    You're getting it done for sure...can't help wondering though if a good used Bridgeport mill wouldn't have been a better fit for the job rather than that drill press?

    • @simcoespring
      @simcoespring  2 года назад +1

      I looked into a Bridgeport and I couldn't find one with 220 single phase electricity. Plus the price was double....maybe next time.

    I was conflicted on spending the $ on a kit. I thought it may have been slightly overpriced. I had some 2x4 3/16 stock so I made my own like your old design. . . But after making them. I fully understand why you're charging 330. More than fair. The u bolts alone were 99 bucks. So with the work that goes into the blocks, I support that price. Well worth the cost if you cant make your own.

  • @louismarotta5134
    @louismarotta5134 Год назад +1

    Can you make them for a 5x6 lowes trailer or a 3.5 x 5 lowes trailer. I believe the axel is smaller.

    • @simcoespring
      @simcoespring  Год назад

      good questions. Lowes/ACE/Walmart/Canadian Tire and Peavy mart trailers are all very strange and not very standard sizes. I wouldn't even know what I would have to make. I'd need a whole bunch of measurements.
      I need Ubolt measurements - ruclips.net/user/shortsjoBn6PpitVg?feature=share
      I would also need to know the spring width and the axle seat (spring seat) length
      then I would know if it would fit with a different set of Ubolt or if it wouldn't work at all.

    do the same operation on all blocks, drill all blocks with smaller drill, do all blocks with larger drill, do all blocks with chamfering bit this will be as fast as you can go, unless you get CNC machine

    • @simcoespring
      @simcoespring  2 года назад +2

      this is exactly how we do it. our cart can handle about 60 blocks at a time (weight wise), so we usually drill 60 out at the same size, then change the drill bits and repeat.

    Is this better than using a kit to “flip” the axle using the kit that is offered by Dexter?

    • @xxRock81xx
      @xxRock81xx 5 месяцев назад +1

      These only work with axles that are bolted on to the springs from the bottom. If your axle is in the middle between the spring and trailer frame that axle flip kit from dexter will be what you need.

    • @simcoespring
      @simcoespring  Год назад

      As long as the leaf springs are 1.75" wide our lift blocks will work.
      The best way to order these from us is to put in an order for either a single or tandem or tri-axle kit. after that, message us on the contact page and put in the measurements of the Ubolts you want.
      you will have put tell us what (inside) width and (inside) length and diameter of Ubolt you will want.
      We have a video on how to measure the Ubolts.
      ruclips.net/video/Ut7AeDgLG8M/видео.html
      after that I'll make you a custom lift kit and ship it out to you.
      Or just give us a call - contact info is at www.simcoespring.com
      that way I can walk you through the steps and I can process an order for you over the phone.

    • @simcoespring
      @simcoespring  2 года назад +2

      They are for a Peterbilt "new" low air leaf suspension. We call them " Twisted Z" leaf springs. They are a very popular suspension, came out in 2003 till today, so probably a few million trucks with that suspension in it.
