To the editor of the video, please stop having the background music so loud. Doesn't even go with the mood lol Aside from that, I enjoy the in depth unboxing so much of this series!!!!
Manthey Racing uses the aero disc style wheel on the rear only of the Porsche GT cars and supplies ducting to cool the brakes from the inside, so lift and drag gets canceled out.
This technology is so old, its not a new thing. I think the Porsche 917/30 was the first race car to use turbo fans/disk and then it really took off during group 5 with cars like 935. There are many different functions on the tech, medigated by size, design, location,etc.......
Sounds to me like that centerlock nut is going to need some anti seize. That said, I can see the value of this wheel. It seems pretty focused on what it's intending to be and I do think that older euro race car style is the target. Wouldn't mind seeing it on the right build out in the wild.
White on white would look great on my red Abarth. I already have the optional forged 17” in white but this would look great still. The weight is unfortunate though.
Yeah, it's one of the drawbacks of the multispoke design on something that's "smaller" in width..However, it is a killer looking wheel! If you want something lighter, i'd recommend their new forged line! Link: martiniworks.com/products/wheels-tires/wheels?brands=konig-forged
After looking again, I thought the aero disc nubs could line up with the spokes but it doesn't which is a bummer and an improvement Konig could make in a MRK2
The nubs do line up with the spokes they’re intended to “lock” the cover so it doesn’t spin. Also when properly lined up there’s rubber feet which protect the face of the wheel from any scratching
Would have been nice to have someone else review this wheel with more enthusiasm or excitement about it. Wheel has all the touring car feels and brings me back to the late 90's early 2000s. I think the older crowd will appreciate this wheel more.
These might be pretty good for EV’s too, I imagine the aero cover will produce less drag, giving more range, and with a quick change, more style without taking your wheels off! Interesting
stop playing w/my emotions. I think the MRK1 w/arodisk is near perfection. my wrx is screaming for them...but, I don't want a -38 offset on a 18x9.5 5x114.3...I want a -44/45, but no luck. I've already asked Konig to make the plastic arodisk in other colors to broaden the appeal vs just a single white or silver color.🍸
I had some Rotiform RSE's and their billet hex caps. Plastic threaded center caps are definitely the better choice on wheels like these, because any debris would bind up one the metal threads of the hex caps. I definitely should have been cleaning them every time I remove them, because I ended up with one stuck on the wheel once.
I think you're confusing aerocovers with turbofans. These are to prevent the air coming off the rear tires from disrupting airflow going to the rear wing (or maybe it's to direct air up there? I forget)
Both do the same thing, and historically, race cars used them either only on the front, only on the rear, or all wheels at the same time. Placment, size change the function. Usually the discs were used to pull hot air out of the wheel well for brake cooling. Function depends on the teams objectives.
Obvs the turbo-fan aesthetic is gorgeous, but... do the plastic covers actually stay on under any kind of spirited driving? Do these 'Arocovers' actually provide any kind of real cooling / aero benefits? Or are they just for aesthetics?
They definitely stay on! No reports of any coming off. However, we would say this design is more specific to aesthetic reasons then functionality reasons.
more of a styling piece but does have tiny "fingers" that promote air movement... $130/pr for the arodisk, so you can choose front or rear placement. Functional or not, I love the arodisk.
Yeah, I really wish there were more of these and discs that fit more wheels or some universal attachment system. It kinda sucks to pay for one of the 2 or 3 wheels that take covers just so I can get the look I want. I don't like any of them and wouldn't buy them otherwise. Keep an eye out and let us know if you see anymore aero covers coming down the line.
kinda sucks that Konig makes little to no wheels that are both 18s and 5x100. I want to slap 18s on my Corolla but I also don't want to settle for 17s on the MRK1
We've got quite a few! Ultragram, SSM, Oversteer all are 18's and in 5x100! Check it out here -> martiniworks.com/products/wheels-tires/wheels?brands=konig&bolt_pattern=5x100
with the cover on it loosk to work well with manny european cars or even subaros and some nissans and its flexebillety they may find home to some with wants a early racing or cyberpunk estetic look to the car
Hey , I have an 88 10th anniversary RX-7 1of1500, And i have 19" Falken staggered wheels,And As much as id like to refinish them cause they fit so Fresh , cost of that process is LOUD! So 5X114.3 19x7½ front 19x8½ Out back .Gunmetal & Nice Lips And Ive been Unsuccessful At finding a Company I'd Like to Work With. CUSTOMER Service is Awefull At most companies ive spoke to telling me that that size wont fit.. Whats the best way to Reach out to Y'all please thanks Joeboost 12:45
I like how they look with the discs a lot. I have a Saturn Sky Redline, which is far from a Euro or tuner car, so I don't think these are meant for me. Well, obviously they're not as Konig doesn't offer them in 5x110 lol. But I'm thinking they could look really good on my roadster. I'm considering ordering them and getting them re-drilled. I understand re-drilling wheels is never the optimum choice. But the selection of 5x110 wheels is pretty terrible. I mean there are a lot I guess, but man they're either ugly ugly, super plain or expensive as hell. Does anyone know how re-drilling these would work with those added holes Konig put to reduce weight?
Unfortunately, re-drilling would probably create more issues than it's worth, you may end up with a weaker wheel. We'd recommend going custom drilling from ESR/Aodhan or something like that!
The width choices are garbage. If one wants to run some really wide wheels like 10/11/12" these won't work. Easier to 3d print custom adapters and run the Rotiform Aerodiscs on any wheels you choose.
Interested in picking up the Konig MRK1? Do it here! bit.ly/4hNR4d4
where do you pick up the aerodisc?
I kinda like the look of these without the disc and that lug cover. It looks like wheel for GT3 class car. That aerodisc is just cherry on top.
To the editor of the video, please stop having the background music so loud. Doesn't even go with the mood lol
Aside from that, I enjoy the in depth unboxing so much of this series!!!!
Appreciate the feedback, we'll make sure the music volume is a bit lower going forward. Thanks for watching!

You forgot Mini's. They'd look great on one.

I absolutely love aerodisc rims, and I wish more grand tourer cars had them...

👍🏻 Aerocover is sick, harkening back to the rally dayz.
I legit ordered a set on launch day for my 17 MK7 GTI 🤣 18x9 et 42 with 245’s….LOVE THEM
After looking again, I thought the aero disc nubs could line up with the spokes but it doesn't which is a bummer and an improvement Konig could make in a MRK2

Aero disc are also for stream clean air to the rear wing, to reduce overall drag and turbulence.
On Mercedes 190E also I think will fit perfectly
These might be pretty good for EV’s too, I imagine the aero cover will produce less drag, giving more range, and with a quick change, more style without taking your wheels off! Interesting
Great point! Load rating is also pretty darn good
@ would love to see drag reduction numbers / range differences, obviously there’s a lot of variables at play, but it would be interesting!!!
I'd run this on my E30 for sure!
They offer other disks? Imagine 3d printing your own designs.
Can you do unboxing of oldschool jdm wheels?
Absolutely! Which ones are you looking for?

Yeah, anything threaded should be cleaned consistently; like coilovers too

Thing looks so cool with aero disc, but that is probably going to fall off during a track day lol

@@K03sport a spokesperson claimed they are functional, but nowhere near a real motorsport one you would see on vintage racescars like a 956 or 935k3.
what was the size that was reviewed?
18x8.5
There both fire 🔥
Ehat that white star looking wheel in the backround?

In the late 90s we made fun of Konig wheels... Good work Konig lol 😂 you win...
hahahaha, I remember. :D
id be interested to see this on a Miata
Why does every single one of these wheels is a 20 spoke, not a 16 spoke or 24 spoke that look way better imo
Probably due to design business tbh... :/
They did not paint the unnecessary wheel cap in matching color to wheel.
Those would look sikk on my Beetle 💯
with the cover on it loosk to work well with manny european cars or even subaros and some nissans and its flexebillety they may find home to some with wants a early racing or cyberpunk estetic look to the car

New Euros use, 20, 21, 22; perfect wheel wrong size…

i think konig has some nice wheel designs but i just absolutely hate their logo/center caps

Hub cap
hahahaha
The Arocover can get stolen easily😅
anything can get stolen...you still need a wrench to remove the center nut
