  • I flew to California to try this 3 in 1 ebike. It's got 4 modes, the first is ebike, that tops out at around 28 mph. Mode 2 is e-moped which tops out in the mid 30's then modes 3 and 4 are the E Motorcycle modes with a top speed of over 70 mph. One of the coolest features is the programing, the torque changes with the mode, that's just one of the unique things about the Scrambler from Land Energy

If anyone that likes to ride would love these everyone else is going to complain while they drive by in a minivan. With that being said even though this can be power downed to a class 3 ebike, i would be pissed if someone rode be me on a bike trail on this.

    These look really cool but I see one issue with these. I live in PA and here to pass your MFS course or a normal skills test you cannot take it on a scooter or an electric motorcycle. It has to be a tradtional bike with a clutch and foot shifter no CVT or automatic transmistions allowed. So if you get your permit and buy one of these it's not going to help you in regards to passing your skills test or your MSF course at least not in my state not sure on other states. In PA you can ride around with just a permit but you can't renew it forever so you are going to have to pass the MSF at some point where you are going to have to ride on a gas bike that's why I've decided to just buy a gas bike.

    How quickly do you think someone will kick it up to level 4. Difference between a 60-80 lb ebike to a 200 lb moto is huge. This is definitely more of a motorcycle than an Ebike. I do not want something like this on my bike path. I even have trouble with regular e-bikes being on my bike path when they are not pedal going as fast as they can. It’s a cool bike. I was wondering if the police will believe you if you explain that it's in the slow mode or if there is a clear way to prove it. For states or countries with different bike path speed laws can it be custom-tuned to fit the local laws. Here in Queensland we have some of the best laws for e-bikes and scooters in Australia but this would be technically illegal because the elec motor is too powerful. I assume it could only be registered as a moped or motorbike.

    Soon ebikes will have to carry insurance and tagged. Maybe they won’t make everyone have a license also but I doubt it. The reason being ebikes should have a better rating system. Keep the 123 and add 40-50 class 4, class 5 50-60 and so on. In other words if you choose to have a ebike with the capacity of doing 70, YOUR bike should not be labeled class 3, but a class 5. That way your tags,insurance and license will be on you and I shouldn’t be punished for my class 3

    Either make a Motorcycle/Moped or a E-Bike. Making a All in One Bike only get a-Holes to think they can ride 70 mph on Bike paths/trails. And then climb it is only a ebike.
    I already see some ebiker trying to go 40 to 50 on bike paths. So they will definitely try to go 70 mph if that is the limit

    E-Bicycle has pedals to still propel the bicycle manually. American corrupted English truncated the word "bicycle" to "bike" due to lazy speak. E-Motorcycles do not have pedals to propel the cycle if need be. Mo-peds is "Motor-ped", "ped" is Latin for "foot", thus "PED-dle" since if you run out of petrol with your Moped, you are able to peddle home etc. As for the claim of they coined "E-motos" is another mistruth.. i'm a word nerd in part regarding accurate, correct, ordered, precise, proper and intelligent English, that term "E-moto" has been used in slang on E-Bicycle forums for some time now by certain folks. I prefer EMCs/Electrical Motor Cycles. The sad part of all this forced push into going to EV everything, is that indisputably almost all the lithium based chemistry battery packs in an EV car, EMC, Bicycles etc, when they are no good anymore or damaged from thermal runaway etc, they end up in the landfill, our next toxic waste global disaster.
    Another thing: the EMC builder claims you are not able to spin rear tired on a petrol motorcycle, that's a lie, he never rode a 250cc, 350cc etc sigh.

    This is really blurring the line between a motorcycle and bicycle. Personally I would like to ride my motorcycle on a bicycle trail because I would feel a lot safer. Many of these rural bicycle trails that are used for snowmobile trails in the winter, in my opinion should be opened to motorcycles, at a very low mph limit. But I feel that I should be able to enjoy these quiet and safe trails too. Especially when something like this is considered legal. Or is its legality questionable?

    • @MumfordJim
      @MumfordJim 6 месяцев назад +2

      Something like this does not belong on a bike path! What makes you think people will ride them slow, it will not happen!
      I’m passed all the time by e-bikes going as fast as they can on the bike path, throttling and never giving me a heads up that they are passing me. A moto will be even worse on a bike path.

    that power tap being $700 is ridiculous haha. all they have to do is get a company to make an inverter with a plug that matches their battery and make a shell for the inverter to make it look like it fits the bike and they could sell it for under $200. the law 100% sees this as a motorcycle no matter how much you limit the output below its rated max horsepower output. these guys got lucky someone just dumped another 3 million into their company to help them out.

    No, you can not use this as an e-bike anywhere . Claiming you can if you lower power output is false . Classification for e-bike is (working pedals!) not (capable) of above 750watts. No one should ever!! Ride this in a bike path . . Be careful . This video shows someone riding on the sidewalk . The police will ticket someone for sure then the rider will point out this video . …. Never on a side walk, never on a bike path . All the videos you see in RUclips riding surrons and similiar to this are doing so at there own risk as these are strictly illegal (everywhere) to ride as an e-bike which requires (pedals) to get e-bike classification !!
