Inspired by Minnie's Moochers .. the originals.. always inspiring and never to be surpassed.
This is still my all-time favorite lindy hop team routine!
I think this is the best group routine I've ever seen. Not only was the choreo great, but so tight. Damn.
Reminded me of a human kaleidoscope. Synchronization and choreography well done. Excellent lines. Well polished! One of my favorites.
Incredible choreography, great dancing! Hats off to you guys.
Awesome choreography! Fabulous performance! And fun too.
clever!!! what a great example of well executed choreography with a hint of humour. fantastic.
I'm a big fan!! This is some of the best chereo I have seen in a while.. you deserved a first place!
love the artistry and teamwork!
I heard this song social dancing the other night and thought of this routine. Love it!
wow! That was incredible choreography! Well done
I can't imagine how much time you guys spent practicing that. I can't imagine how you found times for 5 couples to meet for practices!
LOVE it Ben! :)
Oh how I miss my life as a lindy hopper!
Who choreographed this? One of the most innovative lindy routines I've seen! And great dancing too!
please notice the number of views for this performance against the other ranked teams :) clearly more popular
This routine was choreographed by Ben & Sheri Yau
Seriously, you guys were robbed. Everyone left that dance floor raving about you. I can't even remember a single thing about the 1st and 2nd place routines.
still such a great routine!
Here's another video of the routine that I took that is slightly higher resolution, but doesn't quite get all the dancers. ILHC 2009 California Rolls
+Rik Panganiban Thanks Rik for posting this! I admit I saw it when you originally posted it via your blog post you wrote about us and Minnie's Moochers way back i 2009. I really liked your article, and I know exactly what you mean about this being risky. If I were in the audience watching this and hearing the famous piano intro I would have had the same thoughts. The Moochers' routine made this song nigh untouchable, and believe you me we didn't take this decision lightly.. in fact for a long time when the topic came up we quickly nipped it in the bud.. Each time it was brought up, Sheri would ask: "Are you sure you want to do it?" "no you're right.. we shouldn't." Every so often "Are you sure you want to do it?" "no no too risky"... and then about two years later, "Are you sure you want to do it?"... "Yes, I think so" "Really sure?" "Yes. It'll work" ... And that was that. :) (glad we did!)
Military precision - what fabulous choreography and the partner changes were just amazing.
Based on the ranking the only things missing were, faster tempo and aerials, but really? The choreography between 5 pairs could have easily outshone these 2 "shortcomings".
You should have atleast ranked 2nd, but winner in my eyes - I'm sure you guys will come up with an even better routine next time!
