On the ProRAW capture time differences: pixel binning is not done on a software level, it's done on a hardware level by the ISP and sensor. So instead of a 48MP RAW image being downscaled to 12MP, it's just 12MP of RAW data being captured and saved.
When using the 48MP option, the amount of RAW data being captured is four times greater, hence the slower shutter button.

It seems like the shutter speed is faster in 16.1 RC. Previously on 16.0.x it took 3-4 secs for the camera to be ready for the next capture but the product was immediately at 48 MP; now it takes about half as long and if you try to view the image immediately, you'll notice that it doesn't show the MP/resolution right away. 48 MP/resolution then shows up a few seconds later. Any insight into how Apple changed the pipeline for 16.1?

iPhone 14 Pro Max - I too gotta have those cameras.
New features: car accident detection/emergency calling, satellite emergency calling with no cell service (US only for now I think), Video Action mode (2.8k), Cinematic video now in 4K, A16 SoC @4nm now with double the memory bandwidth, better cooling, better speakers, better brightness for HDR content, better outdoor brightness, all cameras improved, autofocus on the selfie camera, and improved image pipeline (photonic engine).
_Most_ people _don't_ buy a phone every year, and the multigenerational improvements they'll find with the 14 Pro will be truly game changing for them.
The QUALITY of your videos is simply stunning.
I personally really like the dynamic island. The only tiny thing that I would have liked is for the dynamic island to not black out the space in between the camera and the Face ID sensors when you are watching videos or movies. It's a good chunk of display that is turned off and I feel like the dynamic island wouldn't get so much in the way if they used up the middle display part between the camera and the sensors. However it isn't enough of a reason to discard the dynamic island feature.
Imagine if they made it so it camouflaged.

I think it's a wise choice to keep the entire thing the way it is. It would be more distracting to see the definition of the two components that need space rather than just the entire area. The way dynamic island typically is used, you always see the area as black so it remains consistent if you're watching full screen content that goes beyond it as well. I doubt Apple will fill the space and will only adjust if they can cover all of the components and make it all one screen.
@@EbonySeraphim Indeed a good point. Although I’ve been wondering something this whole time. And that is why would Apple put a tiny chunk of display between the camera and sensors? They could have just brought the sensors and camera closer together making the island even smaller. I feel like having such a chunk of display in between just for privacy indicators is odd. Specially since only a single indicator appears at a time.

I upgraded from X to 14 pro & got the deep purple. I am enjoying it & happy with the decision because the camera, processing speed & battery is defintely better coming from a quite an old phone. I haven’t tested the camera’s full potential just yet. I do use my mirrorless in taking RAW so will be interesting to use a phone this time.

I have upgraded to the iPhone 14 Pro exactly a month ago.
I had the iPhone 6s previously and it still fascinates me how far phones have come these days.
The battery life is insane, the quality of the pictures outrages, the pro-motion makes the phone feel unbelievably smooth.
The loading times have decreased by A LOT.
Every single thing that used to give me a headache just vanished.
I do not have a single regret buying this phone and I don’t miss a single thing from my old phone, including the TouchID.
FaceID is working flawlessly and quickly, it’s almost like it doesn’t even exist sometimes.
All in all, definitely worth it.

Saw your review few months back of the 13 pro space grey and I was instantly convinced to buy it. I will be on this phone for a few more years as I do not see any value for money in upgrading from the 13 pro to the 14 pro. Once again, brilliant video

@@PinchHarmonic69 tbh i’ve tried both the 14 plus & 14 pro, the dynamic island is surprising useful. It doesn’t bring life changing features but i think it does bring nuanced changes such as the timer, seeing the EQ waveform to know whats playing in the background etc. but ONLY invest in the dynamic island if you can afford or prefers the 14 pro max because the island DOES protrude lower into the display more than the notch hence making your usable and viewable screen real estate smaller
@@divijjawarani the pill is placed lower in the display than the notch, thus you have less watching space when it crops in which is shit

I’ve been on an iPhone XR (was really hoping for another bright yellow option this year, I love mine for that) for about four years, and I’m definitely ready to upgrade. I think your review is the one that pushed me over to going for the 14 Pro, as you don’t save much going for a 13 Pro at this point and I plan on keeping it for 2-3 years at least!

The intro is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!! I am using the iPhone 13 Pro Max which completed a year just yesterday and it is as fabulous as it was on the first day. This is essential for someone who has used Samsung Note phones for 9 years and longevity was their Achilles heel. My battery percentage is at 97% which is good enough. I love being in the Apple Ecosystem which is why I got the AirPods Pro Gen 2, Watch Series 7, iPad Mini, and the M1 MacBook Air. I don't regret my (expensive) decisions at all. I will upgrade after 2-3 years seeing my friends upgraded from an iPhone 6s Plus to the iPhone 14 Pro Max 😮

Hi Oliur! Love your videos and aesthetic 🖤 I have the iPhone 12 Pro in graphite and its my favorite iPhone design ever. I don't necessarily want a massive camera bump or heavier weight, and the industrial flat edges are timeless and recycled on the 13 and 14. I'm waiting for the 15 Pro when Apple switches to USB-C, and more apps develop for the dynamic island.

Really interesting about the hot phone dimming. I’ve noticed this nearly every time at the beach in NY - not even crazy hot but dims constantly making it hard to read ebooks while lounging outside
I've been using Sony Xperia 5 II for almost a year now and it's probably the best phone I've ever used. Surely, it's 2 generations behind and it has a weird 21:9 aspect ratio screen, but as a "compact" phone it has everything I need. Great Pro camera mode, amazing sound quality both from 3.5 mm jack and stereo speakers and a really nice OLED screen. It's surely noticeable among new gen phones and I love the original approach on phones of Sony (expect their high prices).
Recently upgraded to the iPhone 14 Pro, couldn't stand the battery drain of the 12 Mini. Absolutely love the space black colorway and the smart implementation of the dynamic island.

Bro, i'm living in indonesia. We still have a hot weather here. So i confirm you that the 2000 nitt brightness is very usefull unless you take a lot pic and video outdoor. It's so sad that i couldn't see the screen clearly because of the screen brightness is lowered down.
Great video - excellent quality & presentation. I’m using an iPhone X. It works pretty well for my purposes / needs, but I suppose it’s getting a bit old, & battery life isn’t as good as it was. So I’m thinking seriously about upgrading to the 14 pro. Can I wait until the iPhone 15? Well, maybe, if that promises to be a big upgrade / something really innovative…

@@Boampong555 you’ll like the big screen but at the same time it’ll be annoying. The max version is huge and very difficult for one handed use in my experience.

Using an iPhone 11 for more than 2 years now, still buttery smooth and battery performance is at 88%. Planning to upgrade when iPhone finally have Type-C port. All of my devices now supports Type-C, except for iPhone 11's lightning port.

Really good review although, I don’t have a problem with the dynamic island at all the functionality outweighs the negatives at least to me. I look at it like this for myself. It’s still takes up a little less space than the original notch and the original notch didn’t bother me like it bothers a lot of people. I know many people would love to have technology conform to their absolute use case and be 100% to their liking and that is a very big rarity. If you think about it whether it’s a desktop or a laptop there are such different models. Some people don’t like keyboard placement some people don’t like the trackpad, a certain way, the button layouts, or the port layouts, the lack of cooling a whole number of things you know tablets and phones electronically are the same issue in most cases point is they will never be in most cases, a piece of technology that 100% suits your needs where you cannot find a single flaw. It’s very very very rare.
