People talk about the trolling they'd like to see this guy do in gyms, lifting heavy and shaming big roid heads. I agree that would be cool, but something else I'd like to see is subtle trolling - just go up to some big guys doing bench and say "hey can i squeeze in a set? I won't change the weights" and then just do whatever they do, same reps, maybe 1 or 2 more and see how much they try to go harder and heavier, but he still keeps up with them. Overdose yeah but he's a powerlifter, he's supposed to be able to bench a shitload of weight, everything about his technique and preparation is about one thing and one thing only: increasing the weight on just 1-3 exercises mainly bench press. You don't find any other elite level powerlifters at a run down rec room that makes the YMCA look like OXYGEN gym, because they would feel out of place there. He has his comfort zone and pre-lift ritual where he does lots of stretches etc to prepare his body for the lift, it's nothing like an IFBB pro or any other lifter who can perform dozens of exercises at a moments notice with no preparation. If you were taught by professional powerlifters everything you needed to know to own the bench press at a big school like Florida, your bench would be really high too. They don't spend millions on D1 programs and give these guys all the food, coaching and support they could need just so they get on the bench and embarrass the university. There's a reason why powerlifting gyms and crossfit gyms look so empty and have no equipment and machines in there other than benches and squat racks, because they don't use them or want to, it's not part of their goal. This guy is one of my favorite RUclipsrs because of his authenticity and you can tell he's a great person, but if I were him I would definitely join a real gym with real competition and stop showing off in front of starving college kids and soccer moms

The tipping weight of a barbell loaded on one side depends entirely on the width of the rack it sits on. That's OK because you could also probably lift other things besides chest. I think this guy literally does flat bench every time he goes to the gym and that's it.
I get the bar being centered, but do be careful. Once, I was unloading 225 on a squat rack. I pulled the bar all the way to my side, and pulled both plates off. As I walked to the other side to remove the others, I made eye contact with a dude. As I went to leg press (right beside that rack), he followed me in the squat rack. I was resting between leg presses on the machine. I thought I saw something falling to my left. Turns out it was two 45-lb plates dropping to the ground. Before I could even turn my head, I flinched and got hit by the Olympic bar that just flipped all the way over. The collar from the far end came over the top and struck me in the solar plexus. He tried to do what I did, but didn't balance the bar.

It has to do with how far out the uprights are. I was squatting with a woman workout partner once and she was using 95 and I was using 405. One day I took all the plates off too fast and the bar tipped onto it's side. Luckily, nobody was hurt. Made a quite a loud noise.
It pretty much only depends on where the bench is making contact with the bar. The further on the sides and closer to the end on each side the more lopsided the weights can be without tipping due to the fulcrum being much smaller. I have seen them tip from 2 plates and even a bit less difference before depending on the rack/bench the bar is resting on and the spacing.

I had learned to not use the collars on the bar. Often times I am alone early in the morning and one time I couldn't get the bar back up. I had the collar on and it was a struggle to wiggle out. Now if I get stuck I let the weights fall off on one side. Just hang onto the bar so it doesn't go crazy. Luckily letting the plates slide off has only happened two times over the years.

6:06 they will prolly talking about him in the back right, yup, they were, the dude almost helped him lmao
9:28 wtf i didn’t know that was possible... you’d freak someone out if they saw you doing that
Pause benches 395lb+
Doesn't want to risk hurting fish on rocks
Wtf this man is an actual super hero
I like seeing the positive comments 👍
All hail the BenchGod. The journey back to 4 plates and beyond????
lmao i would be in disbelieve if i saw a 150 pound dude moving that weight
LOL and where is your proof???? Because he has posted proof. You are just jealous of his amazing strength that you have to act like such a pathetic pussy too scared to understand someone is better at benching than you. Grow the fuck up.
@@3Q2HFNILQHF proof? Evidence?
I love the smell of insecurity
@@3Q2HFNILQHF this guy is legit, there are news articles that the benched 285 lbs in highschool. Imagine how much he benches now after 10 years of muscular maturity and consistent training.
@@rome229 super jealous of Castleberry, it's true, you got me
Power to weight ratio is insane !
Guys anyone can do this. There is a temple in Taiwan east of the river, ask for Mr. Fung, if he accepts you as a disciple he will teach the 5 essentials. It does take discipline, this guy is probably a disciple as well
I'm glad you showed that part about the level balance on the bar. When I read the comment on it, it bothered me. Thanks
Man, I have to ask, Have you ever pinned yourself since I see many of your lifts without spotters? Your definitely an elite bench presser!
He uploaded one video which is his worst fail ever. The bar slipped off his hands and pinned his chest good thing he has a spotter that time.

@@zockerlp92 Type this in the search "BENCH PRESS ACCIDENT - EMERGENCY ROOM - Smolov Jr wk3 - Gym FAIL"
@@hamsome9511 thanks man
That guy filming you thought he was gonna get a footage to put on gym fails on ig lol
raidacaipo little did he know. No fails here!
Actually he did have 1 serious fail about a year ago when he dropped 365lbs on his chest suddenly. Look at his past videos. Luckily he recovered okay.
ayabeihere I’ve been following him since back when. No more failures thus far my friend
Strong guy!! Jeez. I have to admit I watched a few reps in the first set, then jumped closer to the last few sets. Good for you! Safe lifting. Edit: Came back to subscibe lol.
Pure power. Beast.
I'm watching this video over 10 times to learn his technique. Respect to this guy.
11:06 LOLL wife is thinking what we're all thinking =P "Can't you just throw it over"
I'm always showing vids to others of ur lifts and the only answer for them is "steroids" of course lol but they have to realize that even if that were the case the fact that ur 150lbs lifting 395-410lbs is SUPER impressive!!! Ur a true inspiration to ppl and prove that ANYTHING is possible if u put in the work!!! Keep goin bruh!!!
People always assumed ROID is the only reason someone can do well its Sad. This dude has been working on his bench for like 10 years he used to compete and all people can say is ROID. You can take 1,000 dudes @150 LBS body weight gives them all the ROID you want and they still won't hit 400 LBS in bench while staying at 150LBS body weight. Roid can improve you in many great ways. But its not a magic oil that gives god strength to shitty genetics. People are too damn undeucated.
Whether shes on peds or not, it doesnt take away from her impressive bench. Other female powerlifters are on peds as well and u dont see them benching as much as she does. U dont even see men in pro powerlifting on roids/peds who can match her bench press to bodyweight ratio
Why are you keep referring to Long as Her/She?
JonnyC 289 sounds like a Wanker to Me.
@@davidkim2005 she?? that's a dude moron.
Good bench👍, but how about squat or deadlift?? I've only seen you post on RUclips bench and nothin else🤔
Good shit bro. I'm a big dude and my MAX was only 1 rep at 415. UGLIEST 1 rep ever, but it went up! Haha! You're killing it.
Me: "I'm 200lbs, I benched 300 for 2 and did 440 on a hammer strength for 6!"
This guy: "Hold my fishing rod."
Me: "what in the fffff........?"
03:40 She gives that George Clooney double take.
Bro where are you??? I can’t be the only one rewatching all your uploads. Please come back or at least update us on what happened to you.
We miss your bench uploads badly :(
Eccentrix Law it’s fake weights
man I'd be cheesed if I could bench 400lb but still only weighed 150lb
The weight balance demonstration on the bench was money. I've always wondered how much...
I would be the guy creeping in the background watching every rep. How are more people not amazed at that gym?
look at the right the side the one guy creeps then finds a buddy to creep with they both watch in amazement at the 365 pause reps
then they both bring in a 3rd guy lol
Amazing to watch, dude.
Your benching strength is phenomenal! Do focus mainly on being a benching specialist, or do you move similarly proportional weights in squats and deadlifts?
Michael Ancona I just bench because it’s a fun outlet.
UFpwrLifter Well you certainly excel at it! Very inspiring! Motivates this 52-year old body to keep hitting those weights!
dude you are smart and strong at the same time
Whats going on brotha man! Hope your feeling better! Miss your videos, don't be afraid to post videos of your progression back to where you were. God Bless
He's got large pecs. And surely serious tendons. It's pretty possible. How tall us he though. More than likely 5'10" or more.
lol the guy at 07:42 was recording you hahahha
Luckily I have airpods so I'm not getting flexed on.
I’ve always wondered how much one side could hold with no weights on the other side! Thank you!!!!
8:03 I see you hoodie dood, taking pics
I'm here for the fishing. lol
315 over and over like a walk in the park crazyyy.
9:18 LOLL
For all the "Doesn't the bar tilt to one side with 3x 45lb plates on one side"
Now I have to subscribe/bell noti just because you saved many of us the embarrassment to do this in real-life =D
Candi Soda does this work at fit4less? or planet fitness?
it isn't the same for all bars though be careful lol, in my gym anything after 2 plates on the rack tips
SkyeKingdom
You speak the truth
it's not the same cause I've un racked 3 plates like that and it flipped on me
Well yea.. Not all arm catches are the same width. The narrower, the more likely it'll tilt.
Or maybe one side wasn't tucked in all the way. If he had 2x 45lb plates right at the tip/edge while no plates are on the other side, pretty sure it'd tip
You can tell he’s in pretty decent shape cause his shirt is loose fitting. But this is still very fucking impressive.
Fucking amazing man not alot of people know how hard this shit is and your lifting like its nothing. Also this physique is the best in my opinion strong but not a muscle freak and lean enough to run 2 mintues without gassing out
Damn I just saw your other vid. I didn’t know u went to pb lakes. I graduated from pb gardens. Keep up these uploads. Great content!
Dude at 8:25 with the tank top "LOL look at this skinny ass Asian, gonna kill himself"
Then 5 seconds later "No way, my weights are heavier than his"
Humble, family man, benches over 300 what more could you ask for?
Dunno about humble but good bencher
I too set up a camera in the gym, and tell everyone my lifts and weight hoping for attention from strangers. I'm so damn HUMBLE.
I HAVE THE DOCUMENTS tell everyone his lifts?
Pushes the weight with his back soo much...flatten the arch in the back.....completely flat against the bench......push with your chest and see what he can do..
6:05 I bow to you as I'm about to bench way more then everyone in this room. ^^
"I mean I can, but it's dangerous for the fish."
Good man.
