  • I don't know why I enjoy riding my Brompton on gravel, but I do.
Holcomb Valley is five miles North of Big Bear Lake and is a popular area for jeeps, off-roaders, mountain bikers, gravel bikers, campers, and hikers. And idiots on Bromptons. It is at an average elevation of 7,000'.
Today was a perfect day for a ride in the mountains so I drove into the valley (you need a 4x4) and rode around for a while. It was a great ride and really showed off how well the Brompton handles.
Kudos to the Continental Contact Urban tires. No flats despite all those sharp stones.
    City bike, my ass!

I'm going to use the old-school terminology. It was an H6L when I bought it but I converted it to a S6R with QR aerobars and SPD pedals.
