Played this at my bro's funeral. He died 13 years ago today. I played it because he said the OCS gig he went to was one of the best experiences of his life. God Paul, I love you with everything I will ever have and I wish you were living your life with me. I miss you kid bro!
Ive lost two brothers so far. One of which was a huge musical influence. Moseley Shoals was the best hand me down there ever was. OCS are an incredible outfit
I'm 18, and Ocean Colour Scene was abit before my time, but this song was played at my Dads funeral last year. I still struggle to listen to it but when I do I can never believe what a beautiful song this is. I had the privilege of seeing them live this year, and when they played this I just felt an emotion I had never felt before. Amazing.
Whenever he or they do this acoustically, Simon always looks choked up at the end. It obviously means a great deal to him on a personal level. Very moving. I have a lot of time and respect for all of OCS, especially Mr Fowler.
Still miss you Paul. The dog is my beautiful pup who died just before the Queen but my melancholy today comes from arranging the things for my beloved father in law. We lost him on Christmas Eve, what a terrible time to feel loss. My heart, and my tears, are for everyone who regularly comes here for comfort. We come here to be reminded of the love we hold for our lost people. Paul, Roger, thanks for my life x x x
I've never heard this song acoustic until now! And man, what a change to the tone of song it brings. I've never thought of it being such a sad song until now. Beautiful!
Despite having sung this song a million times, he never fails to convey the emotion when he sings it. It's always like : will someone please give the poor guy a hug so he doesn't feel so lonely!!
Finishing with Inspiral Carpets was a nice touch. I was 18 when Moseley Shoals came out and it never gets old. Unlike me. I used to live near Moseley as well.
Every Time I have heard Simon Fowler sing this acoustically, it sounds like his heart is breaking. A piece of beautiful poetry from 1 of the truly brilliant bands from these shores. Completely underrated apart from those that get them.
14 years today since I cremated my little bro, I played this song at his funeral. I love you forever Paul, I know you felt nothing but pain during your too short life. I have so many regrets. I know this is how it feels to be lonely. You're in my heart forever, the only person ever to have claimed the title of 'people my sis will have ever loved with all her heart' Live on kid. Look after Sarah for me, she's special.. If there is a heaven I know you and Xebi will be there for me. I want to be with Xeb for all eternity.
Wow, brilliant. Saw them years ago in Bletchley, sat here chilling and reminiscing and found this. The mate I went with committed S two years ago. RIP Alex.
my husband and i have been together 11yrs...in the early days we played the seasides and freerides album (think it was called that) ....anyway...we played it many a friday nite after a few beers... we finally married 3 yrs ago....and this was our wedding song :) fantastic first dance...with us both singing at the top of our voice....not your usual slushy wedding stuff!!! and a slight suprise to the guests! fantastic....love it xl
First band I ever saw live (‘95) don’t fail to disappoint, love the subtle nod to inspiral carpets... wish I could write lyrics that poignant... to the 29 that ‘👎’ here’s another emoji for you 🖕
Just when you think a song couldn’t get better, music you grow up with taken to another level and maybe because we’re getting older were enjoying the slower version
Most underrated band ever in my opinion.. They’re songs are absolutely brilliant. I’ve seen them live about 7 or 8 times and the place is always jumping
Absolut gold seen these guys 3 times at the manny apollo one of the most underated bnands ever. Whenever I hear this song it brings a tear of joy to my EYE!
OH and 20 "PEOPLE" Dislike this unplugged version ???!!!! to those 20 people i say.... "GO FUCKING FUCK YOURSELF"....... you 20 people have no fucking idea, and have clearly not even taken the time to listen. FUCK YOU 20 Dislike bollocks..... you 20 guys need to be shot.
MY FAVORITE FROM THE SAME ALBUM AS THIS SONG IS FEATURED ON IS CALLED .... "LINING YOUR POCKETS" The words speak time and depth on all levels, for me the song tells you a story while at the same time allowing you to relate to it yet making your own picture in your head when your listen and hear the words, oceon colour scene in my opinion were the most unrecognized band in my lifetime and i fucking hate it because they deserved the spot light like oasis did, fuck me if they had the spot light they may of even of been on par with oasis and thats no shit, BEST OF ENGLISH BANDS HANDS DOWN
Steve cradocks guitar playing is just perfect in this performance. OCS songs never age. I love the fact that you could break this down to individual components voice / guitars and it still be a stunning rendition. Amazing.
Jeez, the guy still has the voice to hit the notes, and he hits them with the same power...Ocean Colour Scene...More recognition PLEASE...they've more than earned it.
Absolutely spot on! How years down the line you realise how great a band are.Such a beautiful song, great voice and sweet guitar! Thank you for posting this
I can say that this group is amazing brilliant great. Weller was my icon as a mod 1979 but finding this group 3 years ago I haven't stopped listening to them.
Never liked them at the time, but i've recently realised they're probably the most underrated group of the last 20 years. I didn't even realise they were still going. Their new stuff is stunning.
Have pretty much listened to this every day for the past few months, Steve Cradock knows exactly where each note is on that guitar man fuckin unreal playing.
I remember when I first heard Moseley Shoals ( around 1996) right in the middle of Britpop ( but they were more like a 60s 70s revival band) I listened to that album a million times fantastic songs ..
oh my god i went to the best gig ever last night ocs at wolves civic they were fantastic, i also met simon fowler and steve craddock at the after show party they were totally down to earth nice lads typical brummies. a pleasure to meet such talented musicians ...
Simply amazing, thanks for uploading. I was lucky enough to "meet" Simon very briefly in Glasgow last night after the Merrymouth sgig and he signed my copy of the CD. I was like an excited teenager and could barely even tell him my name for the autograph. Eventually when I shook his hand I managed to say "Thanks for the music", almost quoting Abba which is a bit embarrassing. I took a couple of videos of him doing Robin Hood and The Circle myself which I will try to upload later. What a guy.
Played this at my bro's funeral. He died 13 years ago today. I played it because he said the OCS gig he went to was one of the best experiences of his life. God Paul, I love you with everything I will ever have and I wish you were living your life with me. I miss you kid bro!

This is beautiful, glad you have your dad on tap by playing this song. 11 years has passed hope it still brings you your dad buddy
Two of the most talented musicians this country has ever produced, wonderful stuff.
Whenever he or they do this acoustically, Simon always looks choked up at the end. It obviously means a great deal to him on a personal level. Very moving. I have a lot of time and respect for all of OCS, especially Mr Fowler.
Thats true we did security at the arena boro when they did this version 💕
The best emotional song of 90s and still is it has me in tear every time thanks mr cradock
It's is a very emotional song when played love , it's about Simon's regrate at not having children of his own , very powerful stuff
I was recovering from cancer in 96 and was feeling depressed after all the trauma x this song reflects how I felt 100%
How can just 2 people make such a beautiful noise? Simply wonderful.
tallinn30 it’s called talent......proper talent at that
Has to be one of the best acoustic versions of a song ever, beautiful melody and lyrics

Paul, Roger, thanks for my life x x x
I remember the summer of 96 so well, this tune was playing everywhere back then and it gave me chills first time I heard it. Still does.
I've never heard this song acoustic until now! And man, what a change to the tone of song it brings.
I've never thought of it being such a sad song until now. Beautiful!
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. I bought their first 3 albums and I was unable to turn them off, they were that good.
Raw emotion from Simon backed up with pure melody from Steve...pure class, Simons face at the end says it all!!
Absolute Excellence. Masterclass .. The BBC were very lucky to capture this moment for us all. Thanks for the Upload.
The look on Simons face at the end is priceless because he knows they nailed it
Despite having sung this song a million times, he never fails to convey the emotion when he sings it. It's always like : will someone please give the poor guy a hug so he doesn't feel so lonely!!
Beautiful acoustic rendition of The Circle, I love it so much, Simon is so sweet ❤️
Finishing with Inspiral Carpets was a nice touch. I was 18 when Moseley Shoals came out and it never gets old. Unlike me. I used to live near Moseley as well.
Absolutely perfect. Vocals and the guitar work are beautiful.
Every Time I have heard Simon Fowler sing this acoustically, it sounds like his heart is breaking.
A piece of beautiful poetry from 1 of the truly brilliant bands from these shores. Completely underrated apart from those that get them.
underrated only in the eyes of those that haven't been anointed by the grace of their tunes, greatest band of my generation, not even a close second
@@ryanlafferty5815 1000%👍
I'm sure they sold millions of records.

Absolute quality, especially the end few lines he throws in of the inspiral carpets classic "this is how it feels". Genious.
Wow, brilliant.

Simons voice can reduce me to tear. this is my favorite version of the circle
Reminds me of friend from long ago who chose a different path
Reach out to that person. It’s never too late.
