One of the greatest guitarists of all time. Technically brilliant, he gets the emotion of the music as well, always comes across that he's putting his soul into it.

Wow, still awesome! What an amazing song all these years on. First got in to Ocean Colour Scene when I was 16, I'm now 41 and still have them on my playlist! Huge fan of this band, up there with Oasis and the Manics.
Same here! Got into them when I was 16, also now 41, and also still in my playlists 👌 Moseley Shoals was a huge deal to me… gotta be up near the top for most played album all time for me
Saturday afternoon, the sunshine pours like wine through your window And I know that golden June can turn an empty grey 'gainst your window Yeah, I feel like I'm on the outside of a circle If I walk by the trees, well, I'll catch the fallin' leaves if the wind blows But I know that all this means is whiling on the hours watchin' sideshows And it feels like I'm on the outside of a circle Will I turn my coat to the rain? If Ocean Colour Scene were from Manchester, London, Liverpool or any other part of Britain rather than my home city of Birmingham then they would have gotten more recognition for sure. They give Oasis and the Verve a run for their money any day of the week! Mosely Shoals is a top draw album!
Bollocks. The Verve are fucking legends. Oasis were a movement. OCS were ok and a couple of their songs have stood the test of time but that’s it. Pipe down son 👌🏻
Well, no they wouldn’t. Ocean Colour Scene where a v good band, but because they are not from the said city’s doesn’t detract away from them, or add to their ranking. UB40 are from Birmingham and they got the recognition because they where absolute class. The Verve are from Wigan, that didn’t affect there recognition and Oasis where in another league than OCS. Anyway, brilliant band nevertheless and this is one of their brilliant tracks.
One of the most underrated guitarists of a modern generation. Seen them numerous times live and one of the few artists I’d go and see yearly if I could
So, so good. All the vibrato stuff, and that guitar! Check out Little Barrie Cardigan if you haven't heard of him. Loads of clips of him lighting up guitars.
Hearing this song instantly takes me back to being 15 and walking to school with my walkman on. The guitar solo on the studio version of this song is a thing of beauty!!
They’re just fantastic, anyone else here feel sort of grateful they never made it massive and got ruined by record producers like so many good bands (there’s plenty who made great albums then got really big and churned out crap etc) whereas with ocean colour scene they’ve always stayed true to what they do. Great performance from real musicians
Only issue I have with them not making it really big, is they seemed to fall away as soon as Simon came out. The fans all seemed pretty supportive or non plussed but just seems too coincidental
Steve Cradock is and will always be one of THE greatest British guitarists of all time!!! Of the UK guitarists that you can still see performing at their peak today Steve Cradock and Johnny Marr are our holy grail! 🎸🙌
I can remember when they were called the fanatics, lent the drummer at the time, my set at a gig in brum, had a conversation with Steve about an American band called the long ryders, who we were both massive fans of, really nice lads👍
OCS never meant much to me, but that dude has always had an absolutely killer voice. I think it sounds even better when you can hear all the years on it.
Fair play. Mateys been hitting the Hagendas hard!!! Voice sounds better now he’s carrying some timber . Good to see them again . Not sure why they disappeared . Blinding first album . Played it to death .
I'm 42 and I first heard OCS away back in 94 and been a massive fan ever since. Even to this day their songs get me through tough times .... simply amazing 👏
I was listening to Proof by I am Kloot on Spotify and this came on afterwards - I am so glad it did - despite growing up with this music in the 90s Ocean Colour Scene had fallen off my musical radar in the intervening 25 years -finding this again feels like being reunited with an old friend
Sounds even better like this. I covered this in one of my bands many times - many years ago - and always loved playing it. Takes you back doesnt it? Both brilliant musicians.
Simon that was a great session. Others feel it. Your not on your own. Been a fan since the beginning. Even post pandemic it will never have less meaning to those who understand it. Timeless. Love ya !
A nod to the Inspirals at the end 👍👍👍👌 both bands happened to be my favourites back in the day. Seen them both dozens of times over many many years. Best guitarist I've seen live. Ever.
