we stick up for our band and hate tossers slating off our band, o.c.s have a fantastic following and there all genuine , simon has been writing class tunes for twenty odd years now so give him respect .
i saw them play this live in cardiff a couple of weeks ago and it sounds even better live if that is possable! this guy (fowler) has a great voice and two of the songs (two of many!) that got a great reception was this and riverboat song! amazing night great band!!!
i love this song sooooooo nuch!!!! his voice is amazing, the guitaring is brilliant and the feel of the song is very remenisant of dreaming of a loved one! ocs, you are the undiscovered tallent of britain... release an album with some rocky tracks on it and i think the music industry would recognise your tallents as the lost band!!!
this song is a dream!!! beautiful, slightly complex for two guitarists and very melodic..... how is a band as good as this not at the top of their game? they are right up there with the charlitains!!! 1 album away from the mega bucks......
Look mate, i aint arguing with anyone, let alone people who feel it compulsory to come out with verbal lawn feed! i like ocs because i do! not because i try to find identity in anything! not because i feel some kind of northen soul? (ocs are from birmingham, so more the midlands :-) but because i like their music! if you disagree thats fine, go nuts, but don't try to look down on someone due to there musical preferences! it really shows you up in a light that doesnt shine too bright :-)
been to see these guys twice a few years ago and theyre f***** ace... i bought a video, it has a video of them all sat in a field and they do the best acoustic ive ever heard of 'its my shadow'. Now i cant find it anywhere, does anyone els have it?
i remember when i first heard this song and i also thought it was a love song until i saw the lyrics.... its such a great melody it kinda contradicts what he is saying? the song itself though is a real good piece of work from a real good band!
read online - Simon Fowler - "I wrote this after seeing a TV show about kids in Thailand being sold for the night to fat Western businessmen to pay for their parents heroin. Almost every record company in Britain rejected this song"
everytime i listen to this song it gets better! i heard it on the ocean colour scene classics album or something but on there it was not very good! the recording was bad, they had electric guitars, bass line etc... this song is at its best when its at it's simplest to play and sing.. two acoustic guitars and a voice that could charm the birds from the trees! this is my fave ocs song at this moment in time but they have soooo many it would be impossable to choose an all time fave song!!
how can that guy doing the sound keep so calm ..its craddock and fowler i put them in the same league as lennon and mcartney, page and plant , townsend and doultrey , marriot and lane.......keep the faITH .....O.C.S. BEST GROUP IN THE WORLD
cant understand the hundreds of comments below, most of them being arguments....everyones entitled to an opinion but if ocean colour scene isnt your thing dont listen to them.....simple!
Ed de goey has done a remix of this song and is due to appear with ocs at some fleapit near the sorry arsed end of nowhere...Breaking all tradition ed has hinted that his parents may be helping on vocal duties aswell as guesting on his new lp....rockets and pistons abounding
shatley and the modfathers further decline into negation was highlighted once more as the contents of their council houses were emptied.amongst the offending items were a pair of shelleys jam shoes, the merton parkas debut lp,A carnaby cavern suit which had dodgy side vents and wonky stitching,an england 1966 replica shirt..and two pairs of cheap umbro trainers..Asked about the seldom played soul cds..the pair admitted they had been played once.but that they found shed 7 more easy to understand
when a man is compiling such a comprehensive and damning dossier on musical criminality it is inevitable that his unfortunate ears will be required to endure the dreaded scene..I salute his undiminished courage in undertaking such an excruciating venture. And look forward to the day when these lumpen merchants are brought to account for such heinous crimes...
lovely melodic song and vocals - very sad song though.... Seen the below online - Simon Fowler - "I wrote this after seeing a TV show about kids in Thailand being sold for the night to fat Western businessmen to pay for their parents heroin. Almost every record company in Britain rejected this song"
@aidolirish damn straight.its just quality isint.i used to play this song when i started giging around years ago.i always had a lot of respect for these guys
My favourite bands mr shatley are as follows....Gene and the pristine fatigues..check out their debut single "failure in the procurement of weaponry"...Felix putterman and the tefals who do a scorching version of "my grassive forehead" ..The Youkrines rarity "Towards the south..The YOUKRINE" ...and that old gem by arnold ridley " i'm to knackered to wear puttees"..If ocs can match any of these classics then i'll buy you a pint...Deal?
Steve craddock has after the hilarious failure of his moribund solo album launched a new band called Wankers...It features steve on arselicking duties,Mick talbot on various carparks,Mark king on barney high waisters, and ed de goey on moustaches...The monsigner of pompeii is thought to be contributing his own trussed and frequently beaten bishop to the whole sorry venture..Steve hopes to sell 3 albums..Which would surpass his other stefan dennis failures..
In a latest twist of events,Ed de goey has sadly scotched all rumours that his weary parents will be appearing with him as guest vocalists in his capacity as an ad hoc singer for the dire duller scene..Its thought that in a fit of rage ed physically assaulted both of them while trying to come to terms with a long bout of estrangement...
Its funny ....The shithole that is Birmingham, has the most comprehensive escape route known to man...Sphaghetti junction and its myriad roads are testament to humanitys urgent need to escape such a vacant and lacklustre wasteland..Its a perfect backdrop for the shite sounds of ocean duller scene...

Settle down Simon. You'll hose your shorts. But you are right - an awful lot of crap groups HAVE come out of Birmingham. Mostly during the 90s. I blame it on the Birmingham School Of Business School. WAWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWAWA!

Thats a strange coincidence..I've heard that ed de goey also lives in torquay.Did they both move down there to escape their respective failures.Steves minder bills have been crippling him,and eds parental estrangement has made his moustache fall out.Maybe you should join the two parrafins in your scuffed gola trainers.Don't try and sell the cunnilingus target at cash converters they will call the police and have you arrested for stupidity of the earlobes...a dreadful crime indeed.

Ha ha ha ha ha!!! the only comedy is in the centement of your loathsome messages! anyone with half a mind (rules you out my friend) can see that ocs have been a sucessfull band and continue to play great live gigs! you post such baloney about music you don't like! why don't you mention music that is more akin to your bitter taste? I know why! it's because enya and dido are to embarrasing to speak of!! go out bud! thats the place by your front door :-) Ps it's tragic! not tragi!!

It has a "That's The Way" by Led Zeppelin feel to it.
