Merci Valentina.

When I was young transcriptions were looked down upon! I am glad she is playing this lovely version of Bach's Chaconne! There is also a very cool version by Brahms for the left hand alone! I can't wait until Valentina plays it! She is a stunning musician and woman!

I'm so happy that I heard this. As a violinist I'm always jealous of pianists and the piano, but now I see there is at least one piece, and it happens to be my favorite, that is definitively better played on the violin. There is so much expression lost. I missed the oscillations between the dissonant string chords, it's just not present on the piano. Having said that, this is an excellent interpretation and I wouldn't have been able to reach my conclusion unless I was confident that this is pretty much as good as this piece can get on the piano.
    Back to Hilary Hahn. :)

Why do we have to compete? Itzak Perelman has a great violin version of Chaconne.

you might enjoy Milstein (1982) or Heifetz better, the sound quality is much nicer.

As a pianist, I totally agree. This performance is brilliant (she always is), and the Busoni arrangement is great. But I will always go back to Heifetz.

I'm really good with right hand, but my left hand can only hold chords, which doesn't make sense at all since my left hand actually plays the notes on the violin and my right hand is just for my bow. Don't ask me how my backwards brain accomplishes that lol.

i'm exactly the opposite xD i'm much more comfortable with the left hand and i preffer the right hand doing chords... it's annoying cause most pieces are "easier" if you are right-handed

Bravissimo! Stunning performance. Broad, deep voice of the piano makes it feel like telling a story in music.

Busoni did a great job on arranging this and is very romantic and baroque at the same time. Modern approach and succesful on my own point of view. Lilitsa is amazing but slow parts are god like compare to furious speeds sometimes, not bad anyway. I love this version above all for piano or any instrument. Thank you.

whenever I see and hear Valentina Lisitsa's interpretations I feel it is an inner creation process of VL but I know it and recognize it as Bach, Rachmaninov, Chopin, Beethoven. It is an inner Interpretation and it is the best way to tell the audiance of former masterpieces. The notes are written and the interpretation is known from Michelangeli, Bolet, Kempf, Gould. She transforms it how and what we like to hear nowadays - not to give-up the inner structure of the piece - VL is the great protagonist of today - hope to hear her in future in concert.
