    What are the symptoms of the misfire problem? I have a 2016 that will throw an intermittent wrench light cruising at 65mph with cruise control. Recently help with wrench light issue replacing the trans oil pump.

      You can feel the vehicle hesitate when it fires a gob of this crap through the motor. You might also get a P0300, but often there will not be a code.

      The truck in this video is a 2011. Although it did seem to help this truck, it’s not a procedure I really recommend and in fact I handed the owner the drill and told him that if he wanted to try it, HE could drill the hole. My best recommendation is to get a V8 truck, even if that means a GM these days.

      Makes a huge difference. Especially in cold climates. That yellow mucky stuff is oil and water from condensation. I own a direct injection turbo diesel, notorious engines for blow by and dirty intake manifolds. Bought a good quality oil separator ( provent 200) which has solved my issue

    • @tecmotiondyno
      @tecmotiondyno  6 лет назад +1

      An oil separator is the way to go for sure. I posted this video as more of an illustration of what is in there without the separator. In fact, I would not drill the hole but the guy who owns the truck wanted to try it, so I handed him the drill and grabbed the camera! In fairness, the truck in this video has put on quite a few miles like this with no new problems, but even it has an oil separator now.

    ok stupid question but wouldn't an oil catch can do the same thing?

    • @tecmotiondyno
      @tecmotiondyno  7 лет назад

      I put a catch can on mine, which of course prevents the oil from getting through the cold side of the turbo and into the intercooler in the first place, so I think it is a preferable solution. I did not recommend this solution but filmed it to show the extent of the problem.

    • @mikeramsey9747
      @mikeramsey9747 5 лет назад +3

      An oil catch can will catch oil coming through the PVC system but it won't fix the problem with moisture building up in the intercooler and causing issues.

    • @tecmotiondyno
      @tecmotiondyno  7 лет назад

      The truck has been running great. Whatever boost is leaking out of the weep hole is being made up by the wastegate. The hesitation problem is gone. He has a catch can now too, which is probably a better solution than just drilling the hole.

      I did exactly that on my own 3.5 Ecoboost Explorer. I wasn't for drilling this hole in the first place, but it is a powerful illustration of the problem and my friend who owns this truck says it has killed his hesitation problem. He didn't want to throw it on the dyno and the roads have been too icy to check the boost since this modification, but I am pretty sure that the tiny leak is compensated for by the wastegate controller.

      Not needed, an intercooler it's already one, a small bolt and you're good to go

    • @brasha78
      @brasha78 2 года назад

      Cylinder misfire‘s and catalytic converter bank 2 deficiencies and brought me here on code scans the engine shutters under load but can drive easy on flat surfaces without hard acceleration and I went to a muffler shop and got the back pressure tested both of the catalytic converter‘s are good and I am so pleased that at this point in the morning I may have found a solution to my issue I know that tomorrow morning I’m going to be going underneath my truck a 2016 Ford F150 lariat and taking what appears to be a 14 or 15 mm wrench or socket to that drain bolt that’s on the intercooler of which they drilled a unnecessarily hole. Yes it may require frequent maintenance but understandably that’s what vehicles do you require I just feel that the Ford has designed these eco-boost engines to take a smaller engine and be able to outperform what it should be able to accomplish the technicians and the annual services do not include cleaning of the injectors emptying of the intercooler and I’m certain many other checkpoints that require service I’m not disappointed in the performance of my truck when it’s running properly but I have lately been treated to a shitty run of unknown nonsense with check engine lights and sluggish performance I ended up swapping the coil packs and spark plugs to still have the problem persist and I hope that what I’ve seen here on this video will alleviate the problem that I have now and future problems and I will be looking forward to getting a CAT scan on the truck which of course I will have to make reminders in my phone to clean that thing out but certainly a much more formidable solution as opposed to repairing stuff and buying things that I don’t need.
      Thank you for the video though I don’t agree with the hole that is spewing oil all over the road and on the driveway which I won’t be doing I still appreciate the insight to an oil buildup problem. I have certainly found with doing my own repairs on this eco-boost engine like many auto companies stuff is just not built on a practicality level but more a scalable and production time value in the sense of being able to pump vehicles through the production line so the end result is engines that are functional but only if the maintenance is actually conducted at the proper intervals and to me it appears that these maintenance intervals are not all similar to the regular ones of the past they have new functions.
      The reality is they are engines multiple systems dependent on each other and if you have variances that hinder or stop the system from working sometimes it’s not an easy fix at least in my case it’s been a real pain in the ass but I see the light at the end of the tunnel and this time I don’t think it’s a train.
