- Fly fishing this winter, for me, has been tough. I've been trying for a long time to get a video out. But the fishing hasn't cooperated. I still wanted to get out my Redington Butter Stick and give it a try.

I don't have the same issue at all. If I'm not catching anything after 20 casts I'll do one of two things or both. Change flys or move spots. I have an Orvis 8wt, Orvis 5wt, and a 2wt Redington Butterstick. The Butterstick is by far my favorite and I catch the most with it. Although, I usually only fish if its 45F + if fishing for Bluegill, Crappie, and Bass. Trout fishing is different. I am no expert at fishing for trout, but when I trout fished Trout in Arkansas, the water stayed close to the same temp all year round because of the speed the water was moving enough to maintain temp coming out of the damn. I don't know your water temp, air temp, barometric pressure, cloud cover, and seeing only 2 or three of you videos I've only seen you fish that same stretch or river. Maybe the fish there are pressured from overfishing? I am constantly moving when I fly fish. I only stick to a spot if its producing fish. Even then I move after a time to not overpressure that spot. Sorry for the paragraph, I love fly fishing and would love to see you succeed!
Oh, I always fish multi-species, its harder to get skunked that way. I usually bring two rods with various flys to add diversity to my fishing/channel. Then again I fish for fun and my videos are not for subs, but just because I love to share my journey, it takes the pressure off getting videos/ content out and keeps fishing from becoming a job or chore. Just have fun and people like me will watch if they want.
That’s a good way to look at it. I did move a lot on this trip I just didn’t share it. The issues here are low water, and erratic weather. Hopefully soon I’ll find some more time to make some trips. This place is just close to home and I’m able to hit it quite often
I love muskie and fly fishing bc the names are so iconic yet so odd to outsiders. "I was plumping the ol bumble ball on a butter stick and COPPER JOHN came a RUNNING lookin for a Jake or grandma! Told him figure 8 that ernie or I'd bust his wooly bugger all over with a 3 weight orvis til his backing showed!"
She had the butter stick rippin son, she took my sex dungeon and tbh I’ve never seen a streamer take like that before
You need to switch to a streamer or UL Area Spoon after 12 cast and 2 flies I got nothing. I give those 4 or 5 more cast then switch spots.
