8.2lb Brownie hooked and landed on my 7' 3wt Glass Fly Rod after an epic battle on a mountain stream in Northeast Victoria. (I may swear towards the end when landed :0 )
Wow . I've caught big browns in small streams. Not that big . Well done mate 👏 did you measure it ? I fish a small stream near canberra all rainbows 30 cms is a big fish there . One day I'll get one like that I hope .
Fantastic fight he gave you Scotty. It appears you may have been as worn out as that Beautiful Brown. Would've loved a little more closeup of his markings & colors. My personal favorite sized Crick for the larger holdovers and stream-bred trout. Nice work man. Uncle Fudd < N. PA USA
I live in Seattle and finding streams like.this shouldn't be too hard at all around the cascades... It can be hard to know where to start besides the web. I google map the rivers and look for tributaries, then research those. I end up fishing major spots instead. Btw, that was insane from the fact that big of a slab was just mellowing in such shallow water, landed it on 3w glass, and almost took him down fighting. Epic catch.
Thanks for the comment Luke; It is all about That Thin Blue Line. Heading out and exploring. What you didn’t see in that video was the massive Log Jam just up stream that if the fish went upstream; it would have been a whole different story. Many hours bashing through Scruby bush and steep valleys along with ant, spider and leech bites. Rewards like this brute of a fish are the rewards 😊👍
It sure gave me a workout. It was in prime condition and after catching its breath; swam away very well. It took me a while for my heart rate to slow down 😎
I could have used 5X tippet and a carbon 3wt. There was a big Logjam just upstream that didn’t show in the video. Had to turn it downstream. You try and stop 8 1/2 lb Brownie in water like that 🤣
By no means fake. I have been done by larger ones in this region. Nearly stood on it before I saw it. Didn’t look that big till I set the hook and it turned sideways 😳
The bush bash into this place with a big net is not fun. It does fine for the majority of what I catch ( up to 5lb) I have had the Timber Net there in the past. Not much easier and a lot harder to hike in with.
This is a trophy stream trout for a Victorian Stream, let alone any stream in Australia! Congratulations, this is what dreams are made of!
It's always awesome to find a fish like that in a small stream! Nice catch!
absolute plank of a fish and great effort on 3wt glass
Thanks 😊.
I nearly walked on him heading up the stream.
Amazing how well a big fish can blend in.
What an absolute stonker. Amazing fish mate congratulations.
Fish of a lifetime. Good job. CONGRATS!
An enormous fish for these rivers! Congrats :-)
Amazing effort Scottie
Dude! What an epic fish!
Awesomeness
Thanks
What you couldn’t see in that movie is that there was a massive Logjam just upstream that I had to steer it away from.
@@scottiemcpherson3466 I'm just getting started in fly fishing and that fish is the fish that dreams are made of.
Stunning
awesome battle and kudos to the camerman !
Slippery rocks and fast water.
He did very well to stay upright 👍🤣

Stonker. Well done.
Cracking fish! Could it be migratory (sea-run) given the size?
No Sea Run Trout here.
Land locked streams.
No such thing as Sea Run up here.
Too many weirs and way too far.
Piękny!!!!!!!! Super!!!!!!!! 👌👌👌👌

There are pictures on my FB Page
I think I had a few more pictures on my FB page.
Incredible fish and colour
Exellent watch...
Crikey! I didn't think they grew that big in the Australian trout creeks!
I have hooked into bigger but lost them.
So many people fish right past them and never see them.
WOW Bloody ripper. Well done Scott. 👍👍
Lovely fish mate 👍 what fly line are you running?
I think it was an old SA Plus.
I like the half weight extra as I don’t get much line out.
@@scottiemcpherson3466 thanks mate 👍
Hello Scottie first time tuning in , where are u SI NZ , Tasmania?
Northeast Victoria
I have never heard of a stonker brownie...is this a brown trout variant?
It is the Big variant 🤣
That was a battle royal!
Wow NICE FISH GREAT FIGHTER
What fly rod you using Scottie? :)
It was a prototype 3wt Glass Flyrod.
The basis of what I have on my website theses days
What is your website? @@scottiemcpherson3466
Mate, that's a horse! Well done. I was really barracking for you to net that thing. Great fish.
I was barracking for me also at that point.
Not what I intended on when I set off with my 3wt Glass 🤣
Fortunate no March flies adding to your degree of difficulty in landing your 🐟
‘We’re gonna need a bigger (boat) net!”
Not wrong on this one 😊

The trout should revive this fisherman before letting him go
It took a bit to catch my breath and calm down after that 😎
Ha in the US, stonker means something completely different
It means Big here.
One of those things that mean different things in different places.
A bit like Fanny 😂
yew!
The net's as useful as an empty tea bag,
It is fine for 95% of the time.
Carrying a large net into this location is a nightmare.
Dense scrub.
Dont know which one of you is glad its over, you or the fish.
It sure gave me a workout.
It was in prime condition and after catching its breath; swam away very well.
It took me a while for my heart rate to slow down 😎
Could you have tried any harder to lose it?
I could have used 5X tippet and a carbon 3wt.

Wtf holy smokes. I'm looking for reasons in my head that this is fake, lol
By no means fake.

Great fish, but the camera man should have netted it for you.
Agree with other viewer ..........treat yourself to a bigger net
