    This does look amazing so thank you for demonstrating - I have one question - I will try to explain what is happening. I have the RX100 mark 3; when I try to zoom in gradually the camera suddenly appears to zoom in fully showing a sample of the object in full zoom. You cannot take picture in this mode I have to click focus button or depress zoom lever to restore it. It is really frustrating as it can mess up the whole shot esp if a moving object (I do a lot of underwater photography). I'm usually in A mode. I cant figure out why its doing it ...appreciate any help.

    Carl, thanks for posting this video! I'm curious if the zoom lever is sensitive so it can zoom in very slowly and increase the speed by pushing/pulling harder. I want to record my son's soccer games (short clips when he is in action, so not the whole game) and was wondering if I should by this compact camera or a camcorder. I hate fast zooms as I'll have motion sickness when watching. Thanks a lot!

      I believe you can get great footage from both. I actually don’t have this camera right know but as I remember it, the zoom was quite smooth and not super sensitive. So you are able to zoom slow and smoothly. You can also get a bit motion sickness if you use the image stabilization. So maybe it’s better in your case to stabilize in post, even if it’s in general is best to stabilize while shooting. Cheers!

      It depends on what your needs are. I feel some times that I payed some money for some features I might not need. This camera is extremely fast in buffering images which enables fast continuous photos and also enables short sequenses of 960 fps ultra slow motion. Very nice features, but not useful for everyone.
      The it is very good at video too. Personally I don't use 4K video a lot, because the workflow on my laptop is much faster when I shoot 1080 and most youtube viewers (many watch on mobiles) don't notice the difference. So 4K is not useful for everyone.
      The autofocus is superfast and accurate. Both in video and photography. This is definitely useful for everyone!
      The external audio input is very useful for me because I do videos "vlog style". You can also record videos in s-log which is good if you want to color grade your footage in post. But it's mostly useful for advanced users. There is no hot shoe to place a shotgun microphone, so you need a bracket for that. But I mostly use a lavalier, so it works fine for me.
      The maximum aperture is 2.8 and some older version like Sony rx100 V have 1.8 so it's slower. If you don't need internal audio and 200 mm zoom, the mark V can be better.
      Sony has also released a new camera after I bought my camera - the sony ZV-1. So if I would by a camera today I would also look into that camera.
      If you only shoot still images, the Canon G7X mark III can be an option. I bought it first, but returned it to the store because it had focus problems for videos. But I have understood many people find it ok for still image photography. In that case it can be more value for money.
      But to summarize all this, I'm happy with my Sony rx100 Vii it's a really good camera. I found it a bit expensive though, and not everyone uses the all features you pay for.

      It’s also depending on if size is important to you. I also have a Sony a6400 with interchangeable lenses. It’s much bigger but still small compared to a full frame dslr. Then you have a lot more options when it comes to lenses. I own the sigma 1.4 trio for the Sony APS-C, the kit lens and Sony 18-105mm f4 to that camera. Hopefully I can publish some reviews soon.

    • @gadgetsandtech
      @gadgetsandtech  3 года назад

      My Sony rx100 vii was actually rather quiet. One thing you can try is to use an external microphone, since the rx100 vii has a microphone jack input.

    For this camera has one minus Focal Lenght only 78mm zoom is not Focal Lenght. Like example for Sony RX 100 iii Focal Lenght is only 25mm but for this camera 200 mm is zoom not focal lenght. For good image you need focal lenght not less than 300mm. Also iso need more for this camera price I think iso should be 100,000 not less.

    Thanks for the video, I had been wondering about the clear image zoom. But, the image seemed to wobble a little when zoomed in. Is that just the way it is or could that be a result of having the stabilization engaged while the camera is mounted on a tripod?

    • @gadgetsandtech
      @gadgetsandtech  3 года назад

      Thanks! It was so long ago I recorded this video but I can very well accidentally have set the image stabilization to intelligent active which is also an algorithmical image stabilization on top of the optical image stabilization. Then the algorithm might get confused when the composition is changing. It can also be like you suggested that the image stabilization got confused when the camera was mounted on a tripod. I remember that I brought a tripod to the top that day.

They all seem to have some kind of visual wobble at max zoom and I was trying to understand what I need to expect. I would have preferred the longer zoom but now at least I have the faster aperture and an ND filter built in.

      It's very difficult to suggest depending on your needs and your budget. I value a small size (I came from Canon full frame DSLR) to Sony mirrorless cameras. I bought a Sony a6400 and an a6000. But the mirrorless full frame cameras today are also a bit smaller than DSLR.
      What I can say is that the full frame system is a lot more expensive than the crop sensor system. Even if an a6600 with 16-50 2.8 is not much cheaper than the A7iii with Tamron 28-75 2.8 the rest of the lenses differ. So if you can go a all the way with a f2.8 normal zoom, I would probably go for the full frame system. If you want to buy many prime lenses and more zooms, it will quickly be expensive for Sonys full frame system.
      The lenses and the cameras are in general better for the full frame system, so it's up to you if you have the budget. I would really like to have the full frame system, but at this time I don't have the budget to justify it. I don't shot professionally anymore and I don't take paid assignments now anymore. And I appreciate the smaller form factor of the APSC.
      Look at it as what system you want to buy in to, rather than what camera. I have plenty of lenses for my crop sensor Sony system and might very well buy a new camera body for that system too in the future. The camera is normally the least important part in your system. The lenses will in general contribute more to your image result.
      Long text, but i hope it makes sense :-D
