More than a year later and this camera still cost the same price. I was waiting for the VIII to be released and just decided to purchase the VII and move on with my life. Thanks for the review. I now have a few more ways to shoot my vlogs with this camera.
I have the G7x mkii and love it, has shot a lot of vids on it, great for close ups but not for zooming. Enjoy your vids and still like Sonys, what I used to use
There hasn't been a minute I would regret investing extra money into this version with video mike input. If you little bit serious about travel videography then you know what an extra effort it is to sync audio with video in editing software. That's what i liked during my stay in NZ, you could leave your bike unlocked around a road. Probably the onlyone who could steal it would be a backpacker:]
Great in-depth video. Special thanks for testing the camera on harsh lighting, really shows the camera's ability to deal with strong hard lighting while shadows still look good. And of course this camera is still not on sale even after 4 years from it's release date. What is the external mic you used plugged into the camera? Cheers!
I just got the mark vii yesterday. It’s like having an a6500 in your pocket. I love how powerful this little camera is. You won’t regret getting it trust me.
I hope sony comes out with a M8 because I love the m7 for its abilities, versatilities and compact size. Only knock against it for me is the small battery and not being able to power it with an external battery pack which would be good for cold weather.
@@TheFbiFilesRepeat I was trying a power bank and it extended the run time by recharging but wasn't actually able to power the camera when the battery got low or if I pulled the battery out while still connected to the bank.
At 3:03 in your video there is a scene where you are peddling across frame. It looks like you are slightly stuttering. Is this an artifact of shooting in 4k? I recently picked up a Mark 7 and I find similar situation when I pan with the camera. Thank you for the video and awesome demo. What a beautiful village you live in as well.
Hi GRant, no I own the Mark VII and the III. I will keep the older one too because of ND-Filter and the light intensity. I wanted the VII because of the mic input. Do you have a link for me from the little plugin mic you used?
I am a new user of this camera, and I am trying to figure out what is the best setting for HDR video. There is a a DRO Auto, and I think a DRO off and then a DRO diff setting. When you are taking a video that is high dynamic range with lots of shadows and a bright window, which setting should be used? DRO diff, DRO off, or DRO auto? I understand how to turn the DRO off and DRO auto, but it what is DRO diff? And how do you turn it on when in video mode?
Hello Grant Johnston. I enjoyed watching your video. It was a fantastic presentation. I will continue to watch. I have a question for you. Will the Sony DSC-RX100 M8 be released? Will it no longer be produced? If it will be released, when will it be released? I would be very happy if you could share this information with me. Thank you.
Hi Grant, great video as I've been toying between the canon gx7iii and sony for family holiday footage. But could you or would you use any of these on paid work as B cam? Thanks Paul
Hey grant, fantastic review, I just picked up the mk7 was going for cannon gx3 but autofocus bit dodgy. You can get magnetic no filter attachment now. Yyyyeeeeaaa just having trouble with 4k video on it, bit judder you as I move.??? Any ideas why?? Thanks again for great vid and loads of info. #chefstravels
Ive had an RX10 mk2 since intro. and some jerk nabbed it from my inside my car in friont of the house. We cannot assume any safety anywhere anymore. Sad part was it was in a backpack ewith lots of other stuff asbd years of SD cards of my grandkids from 0- >10 years. it is gone. I am on liability and really cant jump into anything >400. I haqve lots of them batteries. I think I had a cince wide angle adapter >90mm in the bag annd som mics etc... I am so crazy wondering the rest. At 68, I got to figure what is important in life, how important is anything, are we full of ourselves. All thius data never existed.

i am in same spot, but figure there may never be a viii
Nice video. Thanks for the information.
Enjoyed this review, I picked up a RX100 Mark VII a couple of weeks ago so this was helpful. The scenery behind you is breathtaking!
Fantastic video Grant, you certainly live in a very picturesque part of the world. Thanks for sharing

Super video Grant. Audio sounded really good. Heaps of good comparisons. Again really stoked to see Arrowtown..... from up high!
Thanks Tim
Great video mr Pigtree can’t wait to chase you up that him and you can record the event.
Emmmmm him...maybe a hill....
When are you coming to visit Mr Moore?
Agree with the 18-120 and ND. Thats almost a must

Was this video filmed with Sony RX100 VII? The video quality is amazing!
AMAZING
Plz suggest is it better than zv1 ?
This is the camera that I'm getting in the near future.

You guys happy with it?

You sure it cannt be powered on by a powerbank? I think it can

@@TheFbiFilesRepeat yes, I use it to power other cameras and it's 28500mah.......shouldnt be an issue but it is.

This camera is a best even at only 8bit!
did you use an ND Filter?
Can you tell what focal length you're in while shooting video?
Great vid. I’m think of getting this camera. What kind of shutter speeds did u have to use for some of the footage?? Looks good
When does VIII go on sale?
Actually I liked video very much , did you grade footage?
Hi Grant, great video as I've been toying between the canon gx7iii and sony for family holiday footage.
But could you or would you use any of these on paid work as B cam?
Thanks Paul
I haven't tried but I'm sure you could as maybe a second cam on a tighter shot, especially if you were running another Sony camera.
Mic Link?

Hi, is there’s a time limit for recording in 4k ?
Thanks
what ND filter did you used?
No night photography (concerts) review... Too bad...
How many batteries did you go through that day?
JUST ONE major annoyance:
why does it waste the space for the digital hot shoe for a junky flash???
Cool vid bruh
An VIII with a ND filter + a fast lens + an 5 minutes 4K60 recording, it'd be a great little camera.
What do you mean by 5 minutes 4K60 recording? Can it only record for 5 minutes?
@@majormassenspektrometer yes but cant 4K/60 FPS
U good
