I love my RX100 cameras, I bring them with me, everywhere, all the time. One thing I like about them is that they are complete systems out of the box, it's not like you can buy lenses for them. This doesn't mean we can't expand the functionality of these cameras in any way. These are my favorite accessories for the RX100 family of cameras:
Cage - amzn.to/2HpGgC1 and bit.ly/2u44bUI
Microphone - amzn.to/2XeFFKD and amzn.to/2xhjSq4
Tripod - amzn.to/2S8A2JU and amzn.to/2Ehe9En
ND filters - amzn.to/2lOlzYQ
Wide angle adapter - bit.ly/2SuiDyo
And these are the cameras I have and use:
RX100II - amzn.to/2NdUyt2
RX100VII - amzn.to/2OfMN5c
RX100VA - amzn.to/2UZiJgm

Its funny, we all dream about having a capable, compact carry camera, yet when we get it, we bolt all kinds of nonsense to it which turns it back into what we say we did not want. Photographers are all crazy:)
you can buy a car to carry your camera. very compact solution.
We are 😂
Very funny😂😂
I had a new old stock RX100 bought in Jan.2021. Dropped it in July. Cried.
Bought a used RX100 model III and love it!
They are the best. Pretty good performance in such a tiny camera you can put almost everywhere.
I have the RX100VII and use it for videoing at gigs. I have both those SmallRig cages, and depending what venue I go to I set the camera up differently with the various accessories. I have 2 different external mics I use. The Sony XYST1M works great for being discrete at larger gigs. For smaller gigs whereby the Sony mic may get saturated I use the powered Saramonic Vmic Stereo Mark II. I also use the Sony gpvpt2bt Bluetooth grip / mini tripod.
So my compact camera isn't as compact as it used to be....unless I go to a large gig or festival, then it's just the camera with maybe the L shaped SmallRig cage.
Thanks for this. I have had a Mk4 for a couple of years and am amazed at the image quality one gets from such a small camera. I do not have a cage as I very seldom shoot video and unless one does one is compromising the main feature of the camera which is its size. I have always felt that the shutter in front of the lens is rather delicate and for carrying the camera in my pocket I bought a Hama lens cap both to safeguard the lens and as a protection from dust - all pockets have plenty of that! I now use the dedicated Sony case which though expensive is of high quality and fits really well. With the top part in my pocket I can now hang the camera round my neck. As I don't shoot video the battery life is acceptable but I have a couple of spares in tiny pouches attached to my camera strap. These are both accessories I would recommend to stills shooters.
Late to this video but I have the rx100m7 and have the same accessories. These are amazing little cameras and they are a pleasure to take on my trips for no other reason than small size. Loved the video.Cheers
Super comprehensive and straight to the point, appreciate the way you present this info, this video was super helpful thanks!
Thank you, glad you liked it!
another possibly useful accessory: underwater camera housing. Thanks for the video--are you out of Colombia? I have spent a lot of time there, all over :). Your English is amazing!
I already have the cage you don’t like. I don’t like it either as its hard to operate the power button. Will check out your preferred option. Thank you.
Thank you Adrian. Very informative. I have a Mark VII myself.
Cheers so much and the comment above makes me have swcond thoughts now as a lot comes down to what time of day we'll be shooting 😊❤
Gotta love English subtitles... LOL. Switch them on and have a look at 5:28.
Lol, good catch
hilarious - as aows said, good catch
eheheh, "fits in my backpack"... but not :-p
...in my butt hahahaha
Just a note of caution on the filter mounting adaptor. I was thinking of getting one of these, wanting to use ND and colour filters, and happened to mention this while talking to a camera repair bod. I was warned off doing it, because, as he explained, the adaptors are stuck on the front of the lens housing, and when left in a car in hot weather, or by a heater, the glue can melt and run into the lens protection shutter mechanism, gumming it up. It's a fiddly (and so expensive) job to clean it all up.
Ouch! That'd be really bad. I've been using these cameras for years and always had the adaptors glued to the front of the lens and never had anything like that happening to me, but I usually avoid hot weather. Someone shooting in those conditions often would probably find this kind of adaptors safer: amzn.to/3W4d5vd
@@aows - now that looks interesting - thanks for the idea.
Mist filters and gimbal
A potable battery bank would be useful. I know when I shoot time lapses it has been very handy. I have a cheap 10,000 MAH battery that I plug into my camera when I know I need to use allot of power. Just plug a USB from the battery to the camera and never stress about running out of power again. Works fine with Fuji cameras and I'm sure it would work for Sony as well.
Very true! I use an external battery as well for timelapses or very long exposures. They work pretty well! Thanks for your comment.
Hi what 3rd party bettery you use for rx100 ?
First accessory for any RX100 camera for me is a glue on filter thread. Second is Variable ND. Third is wide angle lens. Fourth is the L bracket with wooden grip. The DJI wireless mic receiver fits nicely on the L bracket. Nothing else matters.
Do the glue on filter holders fit all models of RX 100? I have mark3.
Super helpful video! Thank you for posting.
I don't want more things to carry. As you said, the RX100 is complete, and it is.
Very much!
Great guy, great video
Great information
Glad it was helpful!
Does the camera work while it's being charged?
Yes
Not by default, I think, since i saw a setting for it
Yes - you are right, it is a great camera. I assume you are a multi-tasker, able to shoot with two cameras simultaneously.
Cool video!
What is the correct size of the adapter for sony rx 100?
would it be 40.5mm?
Great Video! Very informative
The link for ND Filter is nolonger available
how do those wide angle lenses attach?
I have an adapter ring that glues onto the lens of the camera, offering a 52mm ring to mount filters and whatnot.
I have the original M1. Can I hook it up as a webcam?
Thanks for the video! Do you know if the Smallrig cage actually fits the RX100 M2?
The L-Shaped Wooden Grip/Cage is now discontinued. Is there anyone else selling something similar? I have the 100-7 and really want to have a cold shoe.
What are the product you mount to your camera to enable you to mount the ND filters, I dont see that listed - or I am blind :-) Great video !
It's called "JJC RN-RX100VI 52mm Metal Filter Ring Adapter" on Amazon. Thanks!
Hi. Is there a fish-eye lens compatible with RX100 VII?
Hi, Terry. Not that I know of.
Bardzo interesujący materiał video
Is it possible to connect the camera to a zoom lens thanks to an adapter? in case what could be the compatible lenses?
I don't know about that. It'd be great, though!
The Gobe filters are 43mm, but you only have a 52mm, adaptor ring fitted . How do you attach the Gobe filters? Are you using a step down ring of some kind as well? Have you tried the Nisi filter kit for the RX100 yet? Thanks, great video , love your top 5.
Very good info thank you!!!
Why did small rig discontinue the half cage with coldshoe... The full cages are so ugly and defeats the purpose of portibility
why Zhiyun Crane m2 is not on the list ?
Such an amazing little camera💯🤙🏽 but ... worst thing about the RX 100 vii is soon enough Sony prolly gonna release 👉🏽a RX 100 Mark viii 😳😛
Haha, true :)
No worries, I am also a member of the owner of 3 RX100 cameras club because my previous two (Mk1, mk3 and currently a VA) died within three years. If you are lucky your current model may die soon and give you a reason to upgrade. Unfortunately Sony doesnt have real competition in this segment of cameras which is why I got a VA.
Any guesses on when, because I'm thinking of getting the VII but I feel like another one will come out in like 4 - 5months lol
Great Job!
Would the wide angel lens work on RX100 VII
It does!
did you check this wide angle? it seems to fit the rx100s? ruclips.net/video/rv98we1orV8/видео.html
🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
👍
the video with the wide angle looks godawful, at that quality you might as well just use your cellphone camera instead, makes no sense to ruin a nice rx100 video with it
+++
👍
The Mark 2 does not have a cold shoe. Please know what you are talking about before you start making video.
What is he showing on the camera at 2:12 then?
My Mark 2 has a cold/hot shoe
How to buy filter Adapter for Lens wide angle
How? It depends on where you are based, but Amazon is a good bet.
Could you please tell me how can I use an external flash with this camera?, and which of the Sony flashes are suitable for Sony RX100 VII ?
