This is pure gold ...thank you ! Cant tell you, how many vids I've watched about this...and nobody has "shown" the process...and I've never seen anyone actually rehydrate and cook the eggs..... For us vegetarians, eggs are a good source of omega 3..... So helpful 🙏 .... Glad to see the bowler hat farmer directing people to you for this valuable information....Best wishes...👍
A bit of butter and salt to the mixture, they taste absolutely fine. I blitz mine in the blender as I don't have one of those bullets, it works well. Give it five minss for the eggs to cool, blend it again, it gets slightly finer. I love my powdered eggs. I'd rather have powdered eggs than no egg. Apparently a coffee bean grinder works even better for finer particles, but I ain't got one of those either. Top video x
Thanks. I'd be drying eggs for "prepping" purposes. And I'd be super grateful to be able to get my jar out, and cook up something nice As my mom learnt during the war: "The best sauce for any meal is ...real hunger"
Great video as usual Ana, I always used to buy my powdered eggs from amazon, they were ok but not brilliant and they never really seemed to have a great shelf life. I've been dehydrating my own for a couple of years now and they are much better
Don't let that stop you Bridey. My first few batches I dehydrated in the oven. Do it at lowest temperature, my lowest was 40, keep the oven door cracked open, and leave them to dry, switching the trays round every couple of hours. It works absolutely fine x
I just made 8 dozen more because we have had incredibly high prices in the States, but my main supermarket has been having big promotions on eggs. I learned to do this a couple of years ago and put away many when 60 ct eggs were about 5.47 GBP, but now they are 15.28 GBP . I have no idea how many I have made. The freeze-dried eggs are simply unaffordable and once you open those big cans anyway, you need to use them. I never go over 54.4C so they don't cook and don't brown, plus, they grind up finer. I put them cooled in a jar overnight and if any are stuck to the bottom, I put them back in the dehydrated for a while. When they are perfect, I vacuum-seal the jars, and treat them as raw egg when I rehydrate them, and I intend to be able to bake or add t hem to foods for a protein boost.
@@cherylhowker1792 The price of food is getting downright terrifying in the States. I fear great problems,as the middle class is disappearing and many families are going without meals to keep roofs over their heads.
@ it’s the same here but it’s the fact wages are so low and cost is high . Atually in cost of living crisis atm have been for 2 years some things have gone up 62% in 12 months. It’s terrible tbh
@@cherylhowker1792 I KNEW I should have said something, because I get that answer from British folk almost every time. The minimum wage where live is HALF, literally half of the British minimum wage and very few employers will even then give full-time hours. Really do need to change my dehydrator for one that has the silicon trays available. I find that the dried eggs work better as an "omelette" style, throw in some tomato's onion's, meats for a fairly filling simple meal
I need one that don’t have a hole in the middle and heat from the bottom… but atm money is tighter then my bras!!!!!! So after spending a little extra at the farm shop- but on good stuff….that will have to wait till next year I think but what I will do is look and see if they on fill pre /post Xmas.
@@cherylhowker1792 That's also my problem (not the bra bit 🙂) I have seen round silicon trays with the hole in the middle, but mine is an oblong one with a hole in the middle and there is nothing for it 😞 Did you enjoy the farm shop ? and can your friend make it a regular thing ?
Lee, I have an Andrew James one with the hole in the middle, so no silicone trays. But being an enterprising young gal (old biddy) you know those chinese plasic takeaway cartons, I got me stanley knife out and sliced the majority off until I had just a little plastic tray left. Four of those fit each dehydrator tray, so I can do 8 eggs per tray nicely. Also good for any other liquidy type thing you might wanna dehydrate. Where there's a will, there's a way.
@Lee_Proffit yea mine is the same mate. Yea enjoyed the farm shop, already on food finder hub, yea he said they go there so happy to take me when he goes. I got some bits to try. So we do that in the next few days and see what if any I like. But I won’t be able to do it full time for everything if that makes sense, may mean we buy the raw ingredients there and make stuff at home but somehow I need to budget it. Can’t afford their cakes for the amount I eat, having hypoglycaemia, and biscuits etc. but if I buy ingredients I can make cake with mum once a week, she did bits yesterday while I was out with boxed stuff I had from supermarket. So buying the sugar and flour eggs etc and doing it that way will work out cost effective.
@@jazzjacks8831 Thanks, I did that with the silicon mesh, but mine is the oblong shape with the hole in the middle which leave little space for any kind of tray, even greaseproof paper trays need an origami expert to create 😞. I want to upgrade anyway so I can use this as an excuse 🙂
Ana, thankyou for this video, and all the videos that you do. Keep up the good work!.... May i ask? when rehydrated, do the eggs work well with baking? thankyou x
Thanks Ana , i wondered how they should be rehydrated . I'm guessing oxygen absolver as well . Also wondering whether you could make full cream milk , mixing cream powder with milk powder , what do you think ?
Thank you😊 not sure about milk mixing and not sure why you would really need to do that? If you can get milk get full fat milk as be cheaper than mixing ? 😊
Yes you can,but I think you need to add the eggs dried, then add enough water to the batter to allow for them. 125ml per eggs worth of powder. Google might help.
Here's a test for you, Ana. Have you tried a different approach by which the egg yolk is separated from the white, leaving the process separate. For you want to make scrambled eggs, just add together both together as shown in the piece where the colour may turn out to be a bright yellow.
No I haven’t and to be honest i don’t think I would have time to do so. It is a lot of effort just for the potential colour, unless of course you only need either one or another.
I am getting priced out for buying eggs nowadays. [0ne dozen eggs] 6.50 USD to GBP (6.50 US Dollar to British Pound) is 5.15 GBP with an exchange rate of 0.7924 for today.
My Kroger in N.Central KY has had a few digital coupons for very inexpensive, and I just dehydrated many more than I had. Please see how I do it in my comment, as I do them longer and lower (130F or less; they don't cook.)

That’s well expensive tbh. In the uk I got 30 for £10.50 yesterday at a farm shop- not a supermarket.

Ana what's the best way to long term storage of these..? Is it just keep in a jar like yours and use as required? or do vacuum seal them? thanks

They do get darker when dehydrating, not such a “Fresh” yellow colour 😊
