I was the same way in the 70’s, after seeing Ace Frehley play a Les Paul standard cherry sunburst. I had tons of Ace posters on my walls and promised myself that I’d eventually get one. A friend had an endorsement deal with Gibson and (unbeknownst to me) asked for another Les Paul. I had an SG he really liked and asked to borrow it for a show. A few days later I went to pick up my SG, but he handed me a brand new 1989 Les Paul standard cherry sunburst… then asked if I wanted to trade guitars. I don’t think I’ve ever said “YES” so fast in my life. It’s still my favorite. Enjoy your new Les Paul, it’s really sweet looking.

Congrats, Robert on your finally getting this. You could see you were very touched when you finally held it in your hands. I had dreamed of one too since I first saw them in about 1968-1970 in the little brochures Gibson gave out. There was really not as many other models and finishes like there are today. For me, what made me want one was a pic of Mick Box on the inside photo of the first Uriah Heep album, (the self titled U.S. version one with the monster/demon on the front) then a player in my smaller town older by a couple years got one and an a Marshall stack in custom color orange. In the early to mid 1980’s I found one at Guitar Trader Red Bank, New Jersey that the shop mgr/owner said was owned by one of the New York Dolls. It was $650 back then. I’m sure it’s much heavier than newer ones made today.

Congrats! I got mine in 1995 from 8th Street Music in Chinatown Philly. It was $1700 new. I recently was looking to get an Alpine White to go with the black. At almost $6k I got the new Custom Shop inspired for $1300 instead. Enjoy man! 😎🤘😊
Congratulations! I’ve always loved the LP custom! I don’t have much experience with Gibson guitars. I’ve probably played less than 5 real Gibsons, but I bought a LP studio 20 years ago that gradually became my favorite guitar; changed my mind on what my dream guitar would be. My Gibson guitar is fantastic; extremely stable neck and never a scratchy pot. I’ve had to replace the bridge, and the nut needs to be replaced, but I’ve had to do a lot more maintenance on other guitars

The justice show in this box set is absolutely savage!! Blackened at the start is just crushing and so much faster than the album version!! I took my first guitar lessons on a '76 Les Paul Custom with a headstock repair the shop had hanging on the wall. I've been hooked ever since and have a couple of Studios but haven't been able to pull the trigger on a Custom...maybe a retirement gift LOL?

I replaced the bridge pickup just recently, and painted the top, but otherwise it’s the same as the day I bought it. One of, if not my absolute, favorite guitars. As my Pops would have said, “Good on ya, mate.”
Congratulations Robert! Back in 92 they were about $2500. Now they are about $5500 or more. I have always wanted a custom but could not reason with the price. So I bought the copies. I own four LP custom copies and I would not change a thing. I have a 2004 Epiphone, 1977 Aria Pro II, 1975 Aria and a 1972 Ibanez. After modifications and finish repairs, they are awesome. I'm a player and I play my guitars hard! Right now I would be afraid to take a guitar that costs over 2K to a gig and risk it getting stolen or damaged. That happened to my USA custom shop Rhoads lighting in the sky guitar. I like to show off my guitars so that would not be an option for me anymore.
When I was in high school ('96-00), they were $1,800. $5,500 is beyond insane. Stop paying these stupid prices just to show off! Because of idiots who will pay anything, Gibson is now trying to sell us a Slash signature ES-335 for $15,000. Slash doesn't even play a damned 335! Just stop it!

Nice guitar, i got my dream guitar just last fall, a Gibson les paul custom shop custom in black from 2005 and i got it for 2400 dollars because of a professionally fixed headstock break. I have wanted a gibson Les Paul since first seeing the video of the black diamond promo where Ace Frehley goes down on his knees to play the second guitar solo.

Robert, congrats on your LPC. Ive had a few customs but never a brand new one till about just over a ago. Found a pelham blue custom with custombuckers and VoS finish. I had to buy it and did directly from Gibson. It arrived with a broken headstock. Instead of returning, I ask for it to be repaired since the finish is not a very common one. After a few months, it arrived fixed and with a stinger!
Sick man. I’m a total LP fanboy I think I have 9 but I always wanted a LP Custom. I have a couple “ Custom Shops” but I always ( and will acquire) a white Custom. That one is sick to tho man. Happy for ya.
I watch your video and remember my guitar player friend buying his Les Paul Custom when we were 16 year old's, playing together, in our rock and roll band. I won't tell you how much that guitar cost at that time (I do remember the cost new), but I will say that I am 71 years old now. 55 years ago.
@Robert Jackson I also got a double dose of what you are getting here…a few months ago I purchased my other bucket list amp that’s been on the list since high school….I have YEARNED AND YEARNED for that magic Hetfield iconic MOP/AJFA tone since 9th grade… never really been able to get anywhere near it no matter what I tried… I could get “in the neighborhood” but that would never satisfy that metallica itch…I got a Mesa Boogie Mark V 35 head , brand damn new and I think that makes it one of 3 amplifiers I have actually everbought brand new since I started playing in high school. Run with a parametric eq in the loop and Dirty Tree and Sd-1 out front IT NAILS IT!!! Not quite there yet they do take patience tweaking but probably 96% of the way there. Thought my chest was gonna burst that day I was so stoked. Thanks again for keeping it honest, real, and not offering your personal integrity for sale at any price and unafraid to voice your opinion despite the cork sniffers
Kirk inspired me to buy a Jackson RRV when I was in high school I saw him use one in the S&M live dvd but I have only owned the cheap JS series models, that Gibson is top tier man ! 👍

$1700 is what I paid in late ‘95 for my 1995 Les Paul Custom Black Beauty.
When I was in high school ('96-00), they were $1,800. $5,500 is beyond insane. Stop paying these stupid prices just to show off! Because of idiots who will pay anything, Gibson is now trying to sell us a Slash signature ES-335 for $15,000. Slash doesn't even play a damned 335! Just stop it!

I don’t get mad at people like you, I merely feel sorry for you. If you read even just a few of the comments on this video, the VAST majority are from people telling me congratulations, telling me they’re happy for me, and some sharing when they’ve had a similar experience. That’s how normal people respond to a video like this. The only people who are truly jealous and unhappy would go out of their way to try and shit all over it like you did, rather than just let me enjoy it. So no, there’s no “flexing” going on here. I’m just calling you out on your bullshit, which you clearly have no response to.

Nice guitar, i got my dream guitar just last fall, a Gibson les paul custom shop custom in black from 2005 and i got it for 2400 dollars because of a professionally fixed headstock break. I have wanted a gibson Les Paul since first seeing the video of the black diamond promo where Ace Frehley goes down on his knees to play the second guitar solo.

Robert, congrats on your LPC. Ive had a few customs but never a brand new one till about just over a ago. Found a pelham blue custom with custombuckers and VoS finish. I had to buy it and did directly from Gibson. It arrived with a broken headstock. Instead of returning, I ask for it to be repaired since the finish is not a very common one. After a few months, it arrived fixed and with a stinger!
Sick man. I’m a total LP fanboy I think I have 9 but I always wanted a LP Custom. I have a couple “ Custom Shops” but I always ( and will acquire) a white Custom. That one is sick to tho man. Happy for ya.

I watch your video and remember my guitar player friend buying his Les Paul Custom when we were 16 year old's, playing together, in our rock and roll band. I won't tell you how much that guitar cost at that time (I do remember the cost new), but I will say that I am 71 years old now. 55 years ago.

@Robert Jackson I also got a double dose of what you are getting here…a few months ago I purchased my other bucket list amp that’s been on the list since high school….I have YEARNED AND YEARNED for that magic Hetfield iconic MOP/AJFA tone since 9th grade… never really been able to get anywhere near it no matter what I tried… I could get “in the neighborhood” but that would never satisfy that metallica itch…I got a Mesa Boogie Mark V 35 head , brand damn new and I think that makes it one of 3 amplifiers I have actually everbought brand new since I started playing in high school.
Run with a parametric eq in the loop and Dirty Tree and Sd-1 out front IT NAILS IT!!! Not quite there yet they do take patience tweaking but probably 96% of the way there. Thought my chest was gonna burst that day I was so stoked.

Kirk inspired me to buy a Jackson RRV when I was in high school I saw him use one in the S&M live dvd but I have only owned the cheap JS series models, that Gibson is top tier man ! 👍
The Jackson Rhoads V is another one that he’s been known for pulling out at live shows. He does make that guitar look cool!
Nice job, sir!! Years ago, I found a used Les Paul Special with regular humbuckers in it - and I still have it. And it's going nowhere, either. It's my go-to guitar, and probably will be. I hope you get many years of enjoyment from it. They're special guitars indeed.
I’ve got a 78 Les Paul Custom, black and gold. I’ll never sell it. It’s a great guitar. Anyone who compares a epiphone to a Les Paul hasn’t played both. It’s night and day. They are not even close in weight or feel.
