Ducati's entry-level 803cc Hypermotard 796 is a great little bike. It's lighter and lower than the Hypermotard 1100, but just as fast from A to B in the real world.

dam !!! he just killed it for me ! i was looking to get this bike and do long trips to upstate NY on it, but if the gas mileage is really that bad then i guess i shall look some where else, and i was really looking forward to this bike too =/

While I was in California, I rented the older 1000cc hypermotard and too me it felt slow as hell.. Handled very very well, since it's a supermoto type bike it felt very high up and upright riding position.. which was comfortable, but coming from a sportbike, felt weird... I wouldn't say it's a great bike, so out of 10, i give it a 6.. next time i'll try the streetfighter...

KN filters ruin the bottom end power?! Have no experience with Ducati, but all the bikes I gained more power when I changed the original filterhouse to KN filters. I'd like to see proof on your assumption.

Entry level ducati ...Basically budget option. That kinda totally kills it for me. I think same review would apply to the 2013 new standard motard? (not SP)
