I think its appropriate to have attached to this Rip's age(which I believe close to 60 yrs or 60) Because that coupled with all the injuries he's sustained over the years makes this that much more noteworthy..
@@keenanschouten2582 i get conflicting info about deadlifts particularly about dropping the weight. He saids you shouldnt dropp the weight as your missing half the workout on the way down. Here in this video hes dropping the weight tho. I believe he mentions else where that most of the excersize is the lifting aspect or 'the pull'. So im not sure if i should lower the weight down softly or if i drop it and reset for 5 reps? Thoughts.
Living legend. It's a shame he isn't more respected by the "lifting" community. His aid to beginning lifters is unacknowledged. Everyone talks about how to get your lifts from 400 to 600, but starting strength was always about going from 0 to 225. Which I think is the most important part
What is right is right. He is a great person who has helped countless beginners from 0 to 1. Correct knowledge will not change due to the smearing of others. One day, everyone will know what truth is. He has helped countless people, and he no longer needs to prove anything to others

@@hayekianman I posted this somewhere else here but I will put it again. he's always stated... that hook grip is best for training since it applies equal forces on the muscles. But, he has ALSO said that it is OK to use mixed grip for better leverage when you're doing a max lift.
Only 100lbs off Maxx Chewnings deadlift, time to get some TRT and show him who's boss >next week >Rip posts a full day of eating >in the morning oats, a small steak and two eggs with 1L of milk >Lunch, a large steak and some eggs with some fries with 1L of milk >Dinner, Deer Steak, Eggs with 1l of milk >a warm 1L glass of milk before bed

+Aaron Sparcer He's had his shoulders operated on at least once (per shoulder), I think he's had his elbow operated on as well. I don't know about his knees/back/hips, but someone else probably does.
***** He was a competitive powerlifter. I'm not his biggest fan (I think his remarks about weightlifting are mediocre and the LBBS doesn't "make you stronger," it allows you to use more weight over a shorter range of motion). His shoulder injuries are related to the bench press, which is one of the worst exercises for the shoulders over time. I have no idea how healthy he is.
***** I think his assumption is that the deadlifts/power cleans/press will balance out the shoulder girdle. The issue is, however, that the bench press will grind the shoulder down over time. His argument is that it's the best "strength builder" for the upper body (which I disagree with; the OHP is far more specific to most sports). I think Rippetoe is right about some things and wrong about others. His argument for the LBBS is incoherent and he doesn't seem to understand how to pull the bar most efficiently (NOT HIGHEST) in Olympic lifting. That being said, he's a decent coach for 99% of the population.
+Aaron Sparcer This is not the starting strenght physique, and what are you? A bodybuilder? Being strong doesn't necesarily mean your lean and fit, he is not a soccer player. The man is a coach and strenght training expert, not an athlete. He is over 60 years old!
Extra impressive considering mark is over 532 years old
Actually, scholars maintain that his true age was lost hundreds of years ago.
LOL

He's 65!
@@SherryBaby60 Not in this video....
Why isn't he doing a set of faaaahves?
And whete's the leg drhaaave
Fahve hundred for a single is the same as 100 for a set of fahve
Because he's not on a Novice Linear Progression

I love you Rip!!!! Thank you for all that you do. Soooo happy I got to train in that gym. Miss you Carmen. 😄😳
greets Form germany. rip is the best coach!!!!
hell yeah, Rip you're the man
Rip is a beast. Thanks for the classes.
That went up easy for Rip, he's got more in him. I dare someone to ask him what was his RPE on that pull. Lol
That's not rip, that's roger estep.
Now you did it.
I see a steady stream of calls from people asking you to help them move, and haul timber, lol.
Good lift btw.
The old man still got it.
The beginning is the whisper of the wild.
So that's what that was. I imagine it would be optimal when done on a crisp late-Fall morning in the mountains, the breath visible.
Very impressive, Rip! I hope I'll be strong as you in your age.
damn, that was solid
Rip walking the talk. And the walk lives right up to the talk.
Well done Mark
Thanks, Rip! You've inspired me to go to the gym and do the same thing as soon as I finish lunch. (Later, in the hospital...)
Fantastic pull Mark.
Inspiring stuff

Chewing does sumo. Which is for bitches. In Texas they deadlift conventional
Sumo vs conventional is all about limb and torso proportions.

That meal plan sounds delicious
@Jacque times sure do change.
Rip! Nice!
That’s that old man strength!!!!!
Way to go, coach!
Damn Rip, you made that look easy!
Impressive!
Oh my god. Super respect

Nice lift!
You stopped 4 reps short, you’ve betrayed your own mantra
Respect!
You're a beast RIP!
That look at the camera right at the end made me piss myself. I’m still hiding under the covers.

Where's the music? 25 or 6 to 4 should be playing on a loop

Nice block pull
Lol at the end rip looked at the camera like that's how it's done 🤣🤣
Good lift

Big Lenny grunts just like Rip
bad ass
+Starting Strength is Rip using a 2.5" belt in this clip? does he use that for squats too?
strong lockout
I'm surprised no one has made the "had he read the book, starting strength?" joke yet....
Love what you do for the strength community rip!
Hell yeah
Awesome

I thought the guy was gonna grip n rip from title and I started panicking😂
That lockout tho
Wow!
Nice!!!! 👌
I had to watch it 5 times
I think this is the longest Rip has ever gone without interrupting someone.
Look at that HIP DRAAAAAAVE!!!!

Hey rip, whats the reasoning behind your low belt placing instead of putting it higher up?
nice lift

hip draaaahhveee
Rip breaking his own rules on the setup. Still the GOAT though.
Did he use a weigthlifting shoe or a special shoe (without the heel) for deadlift??
Kyle Henry is it ok to deadlift with an adidas adipower?
I forget to take a deep breath sometimes
It would be really impressive if he pulled 500lbs with a trap bar.
💪
Well I'm half his age and have half the amount of injuries and my 1rm is 405... Sooooo I give up
