      I think it’s a bit more nuanced than that. The devil admits that it was HE that “sealed His fate”, “laid traps for troubadours”, and the Kennedy’s were killed by “you AND me”. The devil tempts and deceives, but it is our choice to do his bidding. I don’t think he’s absolving himself of any responsibility- rather, he’s saying it takes two to tango.

It’s always been one of my favorites. I’m just glad I got to see them live back in 2005 when I was 15. Saw David Bowie the year before for my 14th birthday. They both were great, but Bowie was slightly better to me. Got to hand it to The Rolling Stones had a stage that moved into the center of the arena and then lifted them probably 30’ - 50’ in the air. Though it does make sense as one of their songs is “Get Off my Cloud”.

World War Two was just twenty-five years earlier. It would be like an American today singing "I flew the plane, that hit New York, killed the infidels and did Allah's work". The Rolling Stones: they have a lot of hits. But the deep cuts are where it’s at with them.
      Gimme Shelter and You Can’t Always Get What You Want are indeed awesome songs. But on the same album that you’ll find those songs, you’ll also find Let It Bleed (title track of the album, just a great chill blues rock track), Midnight Rambler (a fantastic blues groove), and Love In Vain (an almost country reinterpretation of a classic blues song by the OG blues man Robert Johnson).
      For every Satisfaction and Jumping Jack Flash (two other Rolling Stones hits), you’ll find two or three songs like Happy, Star Star, Can’t You Hear Me Knocking, Sweet Virginia, All Down The Line, and Rip This Joint.
      This band is a rabbit hole WELL WORTH THE TIME to go down.

    You know in the cartoons when you see a devil on one shoulder, and an angel on the other, but in the end, the character makes the choice to side with one or the other, well, this song is from Lucifer's perspective as he sat on many people's shoulders through the ages. He didn't do any of the evils done, he just whispered it to the minds of weak and corrupt men that knew better, but didn't act better. Yet he gets the blame for it because people aren't being personally responsible.

Certain "religions" having been corrupted, believe in OT values, they worship Gold, gifts and, of course money. I value each and every individual as they are, who they are and wherever they are in their life's situation. When a "religion" turns you away from your true purpose to create unity and harmony yet hatred or division becomes it's message, you need to ask yourself, "Who am I surrounding myself with?"

    I have a little theory about this song. This was the Stones' end of the deal they made for Eternal Life as rockers. Jagger was smart and added "youth" into the fine print. Richards took the deal as it was. That's why, to this day, the Stones still perform, with Mick Jagger as the Dorian Grey of Rock n Roll...and Keith Richards as his portrait ;)

Keeping in mind that the Devil has no power to make one do anything, as Lucifer( the light bearer) people forget his role in the "heavenly court" He brought light to the truth of Man, intentions and actions. Same as we blame God for shit goin wrong, we do the same with the devil. His job, as described by the origins was just Gods Accuser( the one who knows when and how you gave in to whatever temptations and sins)
    Hence the line " what's confusin you, is the nature of my game"....so who is to blame? Lol

    • @godbyelebenohnegott
      @godbyelebenohnegott 3 года назад +2

      It was the greatest trick of religion to convince people that the devil exists so they can blackmail people into doing what religion demands from them. Otherwise they would go to hell - where the devil resides.
      And yet - no hell nor heaven nor god has ever been proven. But people still fall for that lie and raise their children to believe in that fairy tale and "just have faith". Such a cheap and yet powerful marketing strategy for a power tool, blinding the humans for thousands of years. It also has an inbuilt safety device - don't listen to criticism of religion, that's the "devil" speaking to you. Or rather your reason and common sense, labelled as "devil".
      If you pay attention, every religion calls any criticism against it motivated by the devil. If that's not waking you up, I don't know what will.

      I have always interpreted Jesus' "moment of doubt and pain" to be when he was on the cross and cried out 'Father ! why have you forsaken ME?!?" Because I've heard many a sermon how it is a sin to doubt in God, therefore; Jesus was not without sin. He was a sinner just like the rest of us. Every "pastor/minister/priest/reverend I've had this discussion with , invariably say the same thing "well, it was only a few seconds or a brief minute of doubt" as if a small lie is any less a lie than a big lie.

    This might be the greatest reaction to a song I've seen in a long time. I have to give you props for posting it after realizing the answer was in the very name of the song. If it makes you feel any better, most of us have done the same kind of thing with something, somewhere in our lives. We just don't usually have it on video. :)

    Love or hate the Devil, but respect his power. That's the message. And, it is from his point of view. Lucifer, from the comic, says he gets damned sick of being blamed. That he never MADE anyone do anything, ever. He's just a jailor, a warden, assigned to the role by God. It's a perspective.

    • @scottclark3761

    Not Jesus - BUT, Jesus shares the same nickname as Lucifer, "morning star" (sun/son). Isaiah 14:12-15, speaking of Lucifer: "How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!" Revelation 22:16, Jesus speaking of himself: "“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.”

      Isaiah was actually referring to King Nebuchanazzer, not Satan.

    • @rodciferri9626
      @rodciferri9626 4 года назад

      @@mrb532 No, Michael, he definitely wasn't speaking of Nebuchanazzer - not unless you are contending his name is also Lucifer. Here's Isaiah 12 from the KJV: "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!" So, clearly it was Lucifer being spoken of, Nebuchanazzer being merely one of many rulers of "the nations" weakened by Lucifer's fall and also because the name "Lucifer" is expressly stated therein.

    • @mrb532
      @mrb532 4 года назад

      @@rodciferri9626 Lucifer isn't a personal name. It means morning star. Read the context of the quote. He is speaking of Nebuchanazzer.

    • @rodciferri9626
      @rodciferri9626 4 года назад

      @@mrb532 Of course Lucifer is a personal name (in fact my own name derives from it) - it is Satan that is not a personal name. Furthermore, it's stated expressly in the verse that it is Lucifer who is referred to and you still think it is some mortal king that fell from heaven and not an angel? I don't know what preacher you are listening to - but the plain words of the Bible prove you are wrong about that one and it makes no sense from a biblical perspective in any event.

    • @mrb532
      @mrb532 4 года назад

      @@rodciferri9626 Isaiah wasn't speaking literally. He is saying that Nebuchanazzer fell from his glory like a morning star. Here is an article about the subject if you're actually interested in the truth bible.org/article/lucifer-devil-isaiah-1412-kjv-argument-against-modern-translations
