love your work, but as a restoration video fan, let me give you an advice. NEVER start the video with "finding" something "buried" in the mud. Or an overly muddy object on the bench. It makes it look fake and aged artificially. I'm not saying your works are faked, but many of us click right out when we see an opening like that. You are doing a good job.
I have some advice for you, if you are struggling to get the helmet out it's not because it's stuck in the ground, Its because a skeleton is underneath the helmet most times
I imagine seeing an old war veteran. Seeing this, seeing this helmet being restored to its former glory makes them cry of joy knowing that they have fought for the greater good. God bless them. God bless you for restoring them and God bless you. My friend, God bless you for. For storing the former glory of war veterans
Only thing i would recommend is to use a soft bristle paintbrush and gently "wipe away" the rust/dirt off the decal next time. The decal looked great until he used the toothbrush on it

I've been cleaning and preserving a number of German helmets in the last eighteen months or so, and I must say I've picked up a tip or two watching this video. However I gotta say it, on the brief glimpses of the decal during the Oxalic acid process it looked quite sharp and retained much detail until you rubbed it at 5.34 onwards, afterwards the decal became duller and less distinct.
Thank you! Yes, the black paint was unstable. I lost some of the black paint. I have also cleaned many helmets and the condition of the paint and decals depends a lot on the environment the helmet has been in. Therefore, it is necessary to control the process.

I’ve got an old German helmet that was captured by Norway and used by them after the war but someone painted over it with green paint. Is there anyway to remove the green paint to reveal the original paint? Or would it just be better to remove all the paint and repaint it with its original colours since it’s already been ruined.

Laser cleaning would be a. Interesting way to clean. You need to make it a bit moist and clean it with a Laser cleaner. The mud and the roast will evaporate and spread away from the helmet.
Great tip regarding the conservation and getting some color back using paraffin. I usually use WD40, but this seems to be a better sealant for the long term 👍
