All I honestly want in a Trench video is mostly raw footage. I don't care about the length, I just want to hear Nick talk about historically accurate things with whatever guest he invites
Just did my first resto on a Finnish M40/55 to a Wehrmacht 1940 stahlhelm. I got a repro decal, liner, liner band, and chin strap and aged them according to your instructions from numerous vids. Turned out great and looks great setting on my homemade M24 stick grenade helmet stand. JAWOHL!!!
Thank you for your work nick, I just want you to know that you have been my faforite youtuber for years, im 15 year old collector and dreaming of becoming an reenactor from Finland, you really match my wiew of preserving everything from history. Love you man, keep it historically accurate!

Very nice restoration,my grandfather August Lindemann was a German soldier during WW1,,he came to South Africa after the war.I was a conscript in the South African Defence Force (1976-1977) and also a Angolan war veteran.I like your reenactment and trench videos,it’s such a pity that your MG 42 got damaged. In South Africa they do reenactments of the Boeren Oorlog (1899- 1902)during that period we were at war with Britain.Keep making videos,it’s much appreciated.
It's been quite a treat to see the notification pop up,your videos cheer me up a lot! Hi. Depending on how the helmet looked like before you restored it, I think it was used by Czechoslovakian civil defense or firefighters. After the war they, there was a lot of german helmets left here. So they repainted them black and often replaced the liner, chinstrap and splitpins. The splitpins were a little bigger than original ones and on your helmet you can see the mark on the paint they left after they were removed. Very nice restoration!
yer videos are always entertaining i got a M42 german helmet i restored it back it had the same black paint as the M40 did german helmet are liners are hard and without hurting yourself i got a original vietnam M1 helmet it was my first helmet and its named
Great to see a restoration of an M40 stahlhelm. I love the result especially with the decal. Wear do you think is the best place to pick up original stahlhelms for good prices?
Thank you! It's very hard to find 100% original helmets for good prices, they get more and more expensive.. and a lot of them are fake! Be sure to buy from well known websites!
Thank you Nick for your job ! You encouraged me to become a reenactor and now I know how to restore helmets too Greetings from Poland and we cant wait for more videos ♥️♥️♥️
Great video Nick. With temperatures often soaring past 100 degrees in Melbourne, you could really age a liner band perfectly with a good afternoon's worth of gardening here!
So I’ve been sick for a couple days and I decided to see if you’d posted anything and my face blew up with smiles when I saw this video. So I watched it and it was nice to see another helmet added to the collection😂. So after this I watched your past reenactment video from Belgium where your MG42 was broken and I forgot about it and when I watched it I felt the same anger you did and I just wanted to know, did you ever get it fixed? Btw love ur vids keep up the amazing work!!!❤🎉
I have a German helmet , my uncle, asa Armantrout gave me when I was a kid. He was a paratrooper in WW2. The one I have is the only one that wasn't rusted away. He had a 55gal barrel of them on the roof of his house that he'd sent home. The last one, mine was in decent shape, it has the name abel on the inside. He told me abel wasn't able to wear it anymore. Hard man. Nice video
Hi Nick, as one who loved airfix models on creating WW2 tanks, aurcraft and love restoring this is very interesting and creative. Well done mate enjoyed 👍
God bless you sir and amazing video once again. I do have a question, is paint made during WW2 any different than modern paint? Paint now has alot of synthetic materials in it now. Do you know the ingredients of typical paint used for the war? Thank you
Thank you!! Paint back in the day was different, but there are companies producing paint that is really close to the original! The paint I use in this video contains Aluminium Oxide for texture, just as they did back in WW2!
Haha! I love seeing you restore German helmets. Maybe I could do it my self... So I have a question: Where did you get the Decal? And Which Feldgrau did you use? Since I bought a Feldgrau once, and it was WAY more green than yours.
Hello nick, when will there be a trench video?🎉
