The additional plate for M16 helmet is called Stirnpanzer, German wwl helmets are basicly ww l sallet/, allied helmets are basicly wwl kettlehat. Sallet/ Schaller and kettlehat/ Eisenhut are medieval helmets.
M-1916 "Horns" also were where you could hook the top of your gas mask to! I believe the M-1917 variant had the "horns" modified to make putting a gas mask on quicker and easier....
Hi @DasMonke - No, they are just painted, finished and aged in some cases. I Haven't currently got any good textured images online.
