I was playing Starfield recently, and found there was a ship called The Valentine that was singing a space shanty. No instruments, just a voice in the vastness of space. Unfortunately it was only 1 verse and chorus long, so I decided to extend it a little bit. I hope you enjoy!

Idk if you meant to do this or not. But the way the mic picks up your voice reminds me of how a mic in a space helmet would. It just adds another layer to the song and I love it.
That's called a high pass filter. It's an easy way to get a radio like effect.

Part of the reason I plan on staying in the first ng+ is exactly this, the feeling of home that you grow attached to. Ironic how well Bethesda integrated ng+ into its story that you feel guilty for choosing it.

This is why I hate when people say the story is mid, the story is telling you a tale of what youll become. Both the hunter and emissary at the end of the day are really saving you from the torture youre facing.
I love this version. it captures the longing hope that I wanted in a space shanty.
One of my favorite things about the concept of space is that it's big, lonely, and deceptively deadly. One thing I wish more games had was the idea that your old rust bucket could break down at any time, and it was up to you to repair it well enough to limp to the nearest dock or let it become a floating mausoleum.

As in life, so in fiction. The humble word is an underrated canvas.
The lack of instrumentals on your version and in the original really make the song feel like a space song. The lyrics are sad and lonely and the lack any instrumentals really highlights that, along with it being a shanty. Your extended version really feels emotional and the singer feels scared and alone singing it. It captures the isolation and terror of space and death strikingly well. Amazing work!
Thank you so much! The main reason I was drawn to the song in the first place was because it reminded me of times when I'd sing folk songs during work or on long journeys, and it would bolster my spirits
This description really says it. The terror or isolation really hits hard at the soul for those that understand the reality of being trapped in space. Brought me to tears. Wonderfully done!

Beautiful absolutely beautiful, listening to this on the way to have a fleet battle in the key hits different.
I love the fact that this transitions through three major emotions. First stanza: happy to finally be able to explore; wide eyed and innocent. Second stanza: true priorities having come into effect, not quite regret, just more a mournful realization. Third stanza: yearning to go back to what he had before he left. Referring to “fun” as a sordid consolation for the cold untimely death that he is confident he’ll experience without ever having had the opportunity to return home. It’s gorgeous.
I want this to become so much bigger than it is now. Like pick up by a band or sung by a bunch of guys, Arcapello like.
I am planning on making a remastered version, so keep an eye out for that

The lyrics are fantastic but for me it’s the emotion near the end, the sadness mixed with audio quality, it really does sound like the last com sent from a stranded ship out to the blackness of the void.

This is amazing, the shutter for "I'm sorry my darling" was heartbreakingly felt, you have a very soothing voice I almost expected it to continue longer ToT
I have to say, i felt touched for your version, the emotions that it made me feel, the sadness and loneliness, the absence of music, gave that touch of reality of being alone and powerless, stranded in the space, dreaming to go back home, knowing that will be your last image before perish. How terrifying and the same time how beautiful.

Man I fell down the rabbit hole of this shanty and other creators who’ve extended it but this version is the one I love the most I plan to learn it for my pathfinder campaign as I play basically a marooned space pirate whose been missing her time on a spelljammer and this shanty feels right for someone yearning to get back to the stars she misses dearly.
Unironically found this channel like a week ago from your Everyone Knows Juanita cover, now you've done this and it's very beautiful. I know it's almost nonsensical but I now believe this song is about returning to the aforementioned Juanita and nothing can stop me MUHUHUHAHAHA

I now heard the song and really it sounds emotional like if the singer is really a traveler lost in space knowing that… well they are going to die cold and alone and the last verse captures that emotion

I'd love to do a sing-along bit to this. Like a small crew returning this song to the stars every time they hear it, adding their voices. So you've got a few folks in the song, but you've still got that crispy radio original behind it.

Brother this is amazing, I really love this, and most of the fan-made extended versions that i listened to in other games are not really that good. But this, this is amazing i really love what you did with it. Not only it fits well with the theme of the game but also the encounter. It just sounds like this would be an original extended. You are amazing! And the more i listen to this it really brings a tear to my eyes. Not something i thought songs can do to me.
