Anupama please consider doing a retake of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. Even 15 years down the line, I am astonished at just how well the film has aged. It seems relevant and modern even now.
Wow! 18 minutes into discussing the film with almost no mention of Urmila's outstanding acting skills and the glass ceilings she broke back then. Quite similar to how Filmfare snubbed her and handed the Critics' award. The questions Anupama asks actors these days about shedding vanity, trying something different, etc., is an excellent reminder for you Ma'am to notice Urmila did it time and again decades back without any recognition from the likes of you.
They spoke about each aspect of the movie but hardly about the person on whose shoulder this movie was resting for.. Urmila gave such a fantabulously brilliant performance , she was so ahead of time, I feel once she comes on OTT she will rule.
Please do one interview with Urmia would love to see her talk about her craft and preparation for all the versatile character she has done in the movies for decades.
Maybe a retake of another RGV production Ek Haseena Thi? Bhoot was Urmila’s film all the way - what a performance! And yet someone else walked away with the award in the popular category.
RGV made waves in Hyderabad with his first few films and launched careers of dozens of directors and technicians and then shifted to Bombay and did the same thing there!! He contributed to Indian Cinema more than what a Mani Ratnam had done, but still ppl don't credit him enough!!
Satya is going to complete 25 years! Please don’t miss revisiting that. I feel a reunion of the cast along with RGV, if possible would just be fab. It was, is and will be a cinematic gem 💎
@@FilmCompanionStudios Please do! I toh will cry if I see them all together🥹 Satya is too personal🤍 The one gargantuan leap that Indian cinema took in all its might!😻
That was the spirit of Indian Cinema. The era where stars still hadn't become superstars. Ajay Devgn doing that role, with such an unusual plot and setting, that ensemble cast, just so that you get to associate with a very good and visionary filmmaker. Artists coming together to lift something which is above all of them. This has changed now, everything has become a business deal.
I remember I was pregnant when we went to watch this film and the disclaimer at the beginning was so scary...but there was no way I was gonna leave...started throwing up in the interval and still watched the whole film...my daughter who is almost 20 now loves watching horror films...go figure 😮😅😊
The one scene where -- Urmila's character sees the ghost while on bed at night and goes numb entirely. That 1 scene got etched in my memory for long! Just couldn't forget it for years after that!
I wonder why Urmila is always left out of discussions be it Rangeela completing 25 years some time back or with this Bhoot revisit. She was shouldering both films but it's just sad that she's not being given the due credit or appreciation that she rightful deserves!!!!
Bhoot was and is a masterpiece. It had that gripping narrative with excelling acting and cinematography. There was this melancholic feel in the film that really runs deeper than the horror.
I remember getting goosebumps seeing manjit at first and the agony and the horror this movie had brought in to the societies and it’s creepiness this made me scared of apartments urmila shocked the daylights outta me seeing urmila, rekha, nana, fardeen, tanuja, ajay
great movie , and one of my favorites ...but u guys didnt talk abt urmila once in this retake, why man , it is still probably the best horror performance i have ever seen in my life !
I remember watching Bhoot In Sion Cinemax and shitting bricks the SFX, especially the lift going up and down was enough to scare the daylights of anyone.
I was in class 12 and I asked for money to watch this movie. My father said which movie you are going and I said in Bengali "Ami Bhoot dekhte jachi". I am going to see Bhoot and my father replied so, you are going to see your past and laughed. What a movie. One of the best horror movie ever made in India. One scene I will always remember when Dr. Rajan was trying to calm down Urmila and she started behaving like a child and said "Papa mujhe dar lag raha hai" as Dr. Rajan's daughter said to him. Man, that scene is one of the scariest moment for me. Long live RGV.
Truly outstanding movie. Usage of a city apartment, city beaches, terrace, as a back drop was so nicely done. Recently recalled Bhoot while watching Evil Dead where they also attempt to use city apartment as a back drop but they couldn’t get the same effects as Bhoot.
Hi Anupama and Rahul. I love this series and always keep a lookout for it! One movie suggestion I can think of is Taal. That would be cool to see a retake.
Thanks, guys for doing a FC Retake on BHOOT (such a memorable movie).......RGV was at his best and as you guys mentioned the rest of the cast appeared in small but powerful roles............sadly we don't see this in Hindi cinema nowadays........it goes without saying that it was URMILA's show all the way.....but waited for you guys to analyze her performance
I took a leap of faith and went to watch it first day-first show coz in the daylight no 'bhoot' can scare me. I was petrified and went to my theater workshop later suggesting people not to watch it if they believe in ghosts ( like me). It was a summer afternoon and I refused to take the lift to the fourth floor where the workshop was held. So my memory is very vivid and thus I never re-watched the movie.
I remember going to watch this film with a friend in Threatre and scarred me for life...I still cant forget the ghost standing near the door at night.....
Please do a retake of Omkara! Vishal Bharadwaj is one of a kind director and the way he adapts Shakespeare stories is mind-blowing! Said Ali Khan nailed his role as Langda Tyagi (such inspired casting it was!)
Please revisit Zubeida. There's so much movie trivia, actors in the making and craft hidden there. Would love to see you both discuss Zubeida. Also, it did age well.
This camera movement showing perspective of the ghost was also somewhat used in Raat, the most scary Hindi movie in my opinion. I couldn't get that theater scene where Revati is all alone out of my head for years, because I am super scared of being alone in large spaces, I am scared to be alone on my office floor forget about building.
It's always so good to see Rahul on camera. I would love to see the two of you discuss YJHD next; whether you guys think it's worthy of its cult status or is simply overrated.
i'm so happy and sad to see this. Happy because RGV's genius being celebrated and sad because he became thing of past. The amount of respect that Rajamouli commands today, RGV should ve been in that place 10 years ago. He was the one who had brilliance to tell story in 2 parts and make it economically viable. Anurag Kashyap followed the path with GOW, Rajamouli with Bahubali series and now Mani Ratnam with PS1 and PS2. I'm sure there are 100s actors and technicians who are reaping benefits of seeds he sow.
Oh c’mon. Urmila talking in Victor’s daughter’s voice is completely lifted from The Exorcist. This movie was derived from that and Rosemary’s Baby (the apartment setting). I admire Ramu but not for this film. I think his attempt with Raat is creepier, although still very derivative.
Hello Anupama ma'am & Rahul, thanks for another great episode of FC Retake. Next, I would love to see your retake on 'Aaja Nachle'. It was supposed to be the big comeback film of Madhuri Dixit and one of the most anticipated films of the year 2007. But it got into a controversy and sadly didn't do well, became a flop at the boxoffice. But I believe it was a very well made film. Every performance was amazing, even the small roles. Especially, the third act of the film was brilliant. And of course, the Music. So, that's my recommendation for you guys. 🙂 #fcretake #yrf
Is FC taking cue from IVMs Has it aged well podcast? Very very similar in points raised.... The IVM podcast had Rohan Joshi on it and he's mentioned so many things that Anupama & Rahul mention here...🤷♀️
Movies worth discussing for a retake in the next episode: 30 years of Darr, KhalNayak, Baazigar....... 25 years of Ghulam, Satya...... 20 years of Chalte Chalte, Munna Bhai ........... pick one !
Share your favorite moments from the Bhoot.
When will you discuss movies like COMPANY , UGLY, NO SMOKING
Anupama please consider doing a retake of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. Even 15 years down the line, I am astonished at just how well the film has aged. It seems relevant and modern even now.
Please invite blockbuster Marathi movie director and cast Baipan Bhari Deva
Anupama jee...someday do a revisit on DDLJ...would be fun to analyse it as a movie instead of the cultural behemoth it has become.. :)
Urmila Matondkar is one of the most underrated Actors in India. Really hoping for a comeback from her.
💯
She can't do anything nobody can ...

It's so disappointing that you guys speak about a minute-long role of Tanuja but forgot to mention Urmila's performance. I wonder why?
FC and Bollywood banned Urmila long ago.
Totally agree, this is disheartening, no recognition for such a brilliant performance.
Urmila's acting in Bhoot was spectacular! I really loved Ramu's Kaun too, such a creepy movie. I couldn't sleep for weeks after watching Kaun 😊
Please do one interview with Urmia would love to see her talk about her craft and preparation for all the versatile character she has done in the movies for decades.
Bhoot is still ahead of its time ❤

FC can try hard to not mention Urmila, but we know for sure that Urmila is great actor and movie is good because of her❤
And if i m not mistaken then urmila was having three movies that year, bhoot, pinjar and tehzeeb
And followed by Naina, Ek Hasina Thi & Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara the next year....she was truly ahead of her times!!!!
Satya is going to complete 25 years! Please don’t miss revisiting that. I feel a reunion of the cast along with RGV, if possible would just be fab. It was, is and will be a cinematic gem 💎

More than Retake Rahul's Lokhandwala flat story got my spine chilled 😑😨..

Kudos to you for being so brave
just thought if u would have watched Chak de India while pregnancy.... ur daughter could have a been a Hockey Super star
It's always a pleasure to see you guys do a retake. Please talk about Urmila's KAUN
The one scene where -- Urmila's character sees the ghost while on bed at night and goes numb entirely. That 1 scene got etched in my memory for long! Just couldn't forget it for years after that!
Co-incidentally ajay devgn's character is named vishal in the film which is his real name
Uska pura naam kya hai??
I wonder why Urmila is always left out of discussions be it Rangeela completing 25 years some time back or with this Bhoot revisit.
She was shouldering both films but it's just sad that she's not being given the due credit or appreciation that she rightful deserves!!!!
Urmila Matondkar was so so so so good in the movie 🍿 ❤❤❤
Please do more of these 'Retakes', they are a pleasure to watch. Have you done a DDLJ retake yet?
Noted :)
@@FilmCompanionStudiosFor the love of thriller movies, please retake Khakee ❤
@@rs218 And for horror Kaal film.
One of the BEST horror films.
Do a revisit to Raat , it is one of those rare horror films which scares you without the background score

OMG Bhoot was such a classic horror movie and that apartment was amazing I would say that apartment is another character!
Lovely discussion. Wish it was longer though. The movie deserves a longer dissection.
Saw it in 3cs movie cinema in Delhi in 2003 with my cousin and both of us were glad we managed to survive
Memory of Bhoot- Urmila in bed seeing the ghost and not able to scream ! You guys should have spoken on that scene and dissected it !
Hi Anupama and Rahul. I love this series and always keep a lookout for it! One movie suggestion I can think of is Taal. That would be cool to see a retake.
Lot of the things have aged well, the sound design Is incredible cuz it merged in horrible stuff that happened to manjeet
