I'm so not a mechanic. This was an impossible task for me. Video is amazing and easy to follow. Im so impressed and still in disbelief I did this. Thank you Thank you Thank you
Thank You! Your efforts were not waisted here……..your instructions were clear and concise with a extra dash of professionalism…….which led me to a victorious finish. I doubted myself in the beginning but was guided through it all. Thank You Very Much, I will pay it forward at the next opportunity. Be Well !!!!
Wow! This is by far the best how to video I’ve ever seen on youtube for any repair. Thanks for sharing. I need to replace my plugs soon and this video will help me.
Excellent! I would say that was a perfect presentation of how to perform this job. I didn't have one single question by the time I was done watching your presentation. Very well presented Brian! Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video. I watched another similar video and they did an okay job, but they didn't bother to show the two Center bolts connecting the upper intake manifold to the rest of the engine. I spent a solid 25 minutes trying to figure out why I couldn't lift the upper intake manifold. It also didn't mention that there are torque specifications for the spark plugs. That was a really helpful tip. One quick hint for anyone following this video: all of the bolts connecting the upper intake manifold to the engine are 10 mm. It was probably just a slip of the tongue, three mentioned that two of them are 12, and at least on my Frontier, they were not.
I knew it was a slip of the tongue.😂 What's crappy is there are 6 12mm bolts right next to what he was working on glad I didn't start taking those apart
This is the best video by far for the changing of the plugs on the Nissan V6. Excellent close ups, excellent explanations, you even gave the torque settings which no one does. I have a 2006 Nissan Xterra, baby Pathfinder LOL, and this video is the best. I am sharing it on Nissan Xterra Facebook page. Now, can you please do one for the Camry V6? It’s terrible and no good videos out there.
Wow, removing the intake manifold increases the complexity of the job by an order of magnitude. I was able to replace all of the plugs in my 2005 Pathfinder without removing the intake manifold or throttle body. The driver's side plugs are trivial. The only one that was really tricky was the front passenger side plug. It can be done, it just takes patience. There are videos here on RUclips that show it being done.
This is an extremely well produced video. I just finish replacing the plugs on my 2009, and this video was a huge help. The only problem I had was removing the wiring harness from that metal tab on the passenger side of the engine. As I was trying to pry and pull, I slipped off, and broke the blend valve(?) on the heater hose assembly. No fault of the video. Just a stubborn tab. Now I have another job to do. Would you have a video explaining the steps for replacing the heater hose assembly? lol
I had the same issue But I was pressing on the end of the tab where it’s silver There’s a little notch on the side of the clip where you can get a flat head You press that while pulling up on the harness
I just changed my spark plugs. 1hr 45 minutes..I didn't take all the hoses off . I moved the plenum up just a little so I can access the plugs on the left side.. Nice video👌👌..
You saved me half a day of trying to figure out how to get the coils out. Yes, I've seen other guys jerry rig and work around not removing the manifold. But I cringe at how they manhandle the coils and wires. This is much more efficient and safer. Do it once, do it right. Thanks again.
Thank you for the tutorial video. I replaced my spark plugs on my 2008 Frontier V6. The only hurdle was the front bolt beneath the throttle body, it was a monster! I wasn’t going to be denied. Again, thank you ! 🔧
How did you get it? I’m stuck on it currently, tried a 12mm socket and a 12mm wrench. It’s on there TIGHT, and my drill is too big to get in there I think.
I am right at the completion of following this video on my 2009 Nissan Pathfinder. I want to thank you for this video. I couldn't of done it so well on my own. I really appreciated your video!
Great video and to the point. I literally just finished my Frontier like 2 hours ago. Start to finish was a little under 4 hours. (Plus I'm in my 60's) I had 111,000 so I knew the plugs were overdue. The only thing I did different is when I replaced the passenger side front plug I put a new coil. I figured I won't be able to get to it plus Nissan rates them at 100,000. They say heat and vibration kill them. Some go at 70,000 and some 150,000. I'll replace the others in a few weeks for piece of mind. I go many places hunting and ice fishing and hopefully won't be stuck. Thanks for the video.
Thank you so much for your great tutorial! My husband was able to replace my Pathfinders ignition coil #1 following your precise instructions, again, Thank you! Jean and Jim
A like and a subscribe. I like how you didn't stop after the plugs were replaced and just assumed folks would know how to put it back together. Nice video.
Awesome video....I have a 2012 Nissan Frontier. I have 69K on it. Not sure when to change the plugs but this video gave me the confidence to do it. Thanks again. Great job.
fantastic video, great camera work. also while you have all this apart, spend $60 and get both left/right cam position sensors and coolant temp sensor replaced, all very easy
Thank you for the detailed explanation on the step by step procedure on changing plugs on a 2010 Pathfinder. You made this job very easy and fun for me. Also thank you for explaining how to put things back together again. You video was great.. I was successful in completing this job except for the 1 throttle body bolt I over tightened and broke. Do you have a video on what to do to remove that bolt? If so, let me know. thank you again.
The only spark plug you need to remove the intake to get to is the front plug on the passenger side. You can save yourself a lot of time by not taking the intake all the way off.just move it far enough to get to the front coil bolt and spark plug.
Great video but you just don’t need to remove the intake. A common selection of 1/4 inch extensions will get those pita plugs on the passenger side. I’ve done mine on several different 4.0s the same way and none of them with the intake removed.
I tried to get the coil out of the middle cylinder and no way it was coming out.. so that front one is gonna be impossible without taking the intake off
At the time when I filmed this video, it was just an iPhone and then I went into the iMovie app and voice over in a quiet room. Now use a canon M 50 mark two and DJI wireless microphones.
Thank you, thank you. I really appreciate you for sharing your wisdom and understanding. I know it's just routine and experience for you but you saved me from having to use $$$ that I need for over necessities. 👍🏼👍🏼
Excellent tutorial. Would you recommend replacing the ignition coil at 100k miles as well? From your experience, do they fail before the next scheduled spark plug change?
TLDR; thanks man, I greatly appreciate this video. It helped me immensely today on my 12' Pathfinder. Long ver: Brother.. I did this today. OMFG man you made it look easy lol! For real though. All the hoses were stuck (luckily I didn't crack any and yes I will be replacing them all soon), and toward the end I got heat exhaustion and wired the two driver side rear coils backwards! Kinda weird the way the wiring harness is though. I had to watch your video again to figure it out.
Tyvm for this video. I've been putting this off for a long time. Didn't want to pull the intake. Question. I'm at 155k on my 2012 Pathfinder. Would you recommend replacing the coil packs as well while I'm at it?
Thanks, I followed all the indications and I could do it an excellent way to explain, I also have a nissan quest 2005 maybe you have a video so I would appreciate it
I replaced the spark plugs and 1 ignition coil forgot to the gaskets so I used your video to do that… but it’s still shaking and leaving the fuel smell inside my car so it’s still a misfire somewhere
I noticed that your New Blue gasket set had 1 BLACK :19sec Throttlebody gasket in it, which some folks say isn't a perfect fit . I also noticed that the color of your throttle body gasket was still dark orange going back together. Is that because you reused the original 12:18 min due to a better fit ? I appreciate your comment on this key problem out there. Although I'm already planning on buying Vincos Upper Intake/Plenum Gasket Set MS 96943 for $14.69 on Amazon because they really look the best in detail.
so, the manifold broke when I tried to remove the hose on the back side (where you said to be careful but it didn't take much) and now I don't know where I can find a replacement for it.
Can remove pack/plugs without taking plenum off. You need a mini 10mm flat ratchet, and a 6"-10" extender for the 5/8" socket. But, MUCH easier if you do remove the plenum.
Thanks for the video. I noticed that you ended up cleaning the throttle body. Did you run into any codes or idle issues after doing that? I have read the experience from many others that cleaning can cause issues with these TBs.
@@HowtoAutomotive Appreciate your response. Did you just spray with a TB safe cleaner and gently wipe down as to not move the butterfly? I have read on the Nissan forums that the butterfly on these TBs gets moved it can throw a P0507.
This is why I only buy inline 4 cylinder FWD sedans, all I have to do is remove the ignition coils and the spark plugs are right there, well for my 12 Camry SE anyways. Was going to buy the V6 but since I like to do stuff like this myself it’s just not worth it, sure the V6 is smoother and way faster but not worth the trouble.
