A Dye-hard Auburn alum and fan here. These folks won me over when we went to the game at Kyle Field to watch AU v TAM. What a great place and the nicest, most hospitable folks that one could possibly want! Now my second favorite SEC school!
Thanks much for your kind comments. Please visit the A&M campus any time of the year, and take in the friendship. (And don't forget to enjoy the barbecue there!) I have no doubt that all outsiders are equally welcome on the Auburn campus. (Do you have barbecue there?)
I’m also an Auburn alum and retired US Air Force. Many of my co-pilots were Aggies and I enjoyed the dignity they displayed for ANY Aggie. I also love the Rough Coated Collie breed, and my service dog is a Rough Coated Collie. When Texas A&M became part of the SEC, when they played Auburn in Auburn, I passed by Miss Reveille, Ma’am and the Cadet Handler stopped and greeted us. We took photos of the two dogs. I gave a salute to the Cadet and wished him G-d Speed in his military career. If I had to re-do my University years, Texas A&M would be high on the list.
+Dallas Franks Could anyone answer me? Is this university a Liberal or Conservative? since I don't like conservative culture What about the town of College Station Is it safe or not? Are people open minded ? Are they racists I got news about Texans so I'm not sure about it as whole
royaltornado it is one of the most conservative universities in the nation. College Station is extremely safe. People are people. Conservative does not mean racist. Probably not a good place for you if you dislike conservative culture.
Dallas Franks But the program in this university does fit with my plan, so I'm really want to study there, yet the conservative culture doesn't fit with me. I'm not American nor a christian, so would that be a problem for me in that place ! I don't know! The stereotype of Texans people is not interesting to be honest !
Dallas Franks , you can study at Texas A & M and not take part if be present for any if the "traditions". During the day it is a normal university. But I must warn you, the spirit if Aggieland will invade your soul before you graduate. And you will be a better person for it.....
That the Corps of Cadets accounts for less than 4% of the student body now is sad. Our youngest son-in-law played tackle for A&M, was a member of the Corps of Cadets and is now a Lieutenant Colonel on active duty in the United States Army. As a retired Navy Chief Warrant Officer I am very proud of James! HOOAH son!
50k students or something? So that's still 2k students. Adding that to what is already a full course load at a non military academy and one of the states leading universities is probably too much
I went to A&M over the summer for 3 weeks and it truly did feel like a home. great university and will always be my home whether i go there for college or not.
I'm hopefully joining the Corps and going to A&M in a years time. I gotta step it up my senior year and make good grades and really devout myself to becoming better academically, physically, and morally so that I get accepted.
I sincerely wish every A&M student would join the Corps. That first year is extremely tough, fish Jones... but the demands are absolutely worth the commitment and effort. Being in the Corps is a lifetime experience one will never regret.
Of prowess bold Of a school, they think so grand But there’s a spirit that can’t be told It’s the spirit of Aggieland. We are the Aggies, the Aggies are we. True to each other as Aggies can be. We got to fight boys We got to fight! We got to fight for Maroon and White...
From the way people talk, A&M is more that a degree or simple university. It's a home. It's a way of life. I have looked at a lot of colleges and NEVER have I seen one with so much pride, honor, and tradition as A&M.
i dont read anything about ur program ---only watch utube--retired today---texas am rotc has filled many hours 4 days watching ur tubes----looks like fun
Gig em Aggies!!!! my great grandfather won the only championship ring for football ever.he won it in 1939 his name was Carl i called him Aggie daddy im 18 now im going to carry on the proud family tradition then when i graduate i'm going to be a marine corps officer
My Grandfather played football with E. King Gill in 22' & 23'. Noisy Hardman Class of 25 I have his ring', Whoop! John J.L. Hardman Sr., My name is John J.L. Hardman III
I don't say this b/c I think I'm full of "bravado", but it's hard for me to cry. However, as a former student I remember Silver Taps and Muster at Campus and every-time tears were rolling down my cheeks. As I grow older (I'm only 36), but each year at Muster there are more and more dear Former Student friends I say "Here" for, and I don't think I've had a dry eye at a Silver Taps or Muster since I was a Fish in the Fall of 2000. FTAC of '04

Melissa Walker turn up the hearing aid .. THE STUDENTS stands up , during the game and if you have " back problems" at that age and can't muster the energy to stand , maybe you should enroll at a different college
Could anyone answer me? Is this university a Liberal or Conservative? since I don't like conservative culture What about the town of College Station Is it safe or not? Are people open minded ? Are they racists I got news about Texans so I'm not sure about it as whole
+royaltornado I'm a prospective student myself, and from what I could gather from going around campus and talking to current students, Aggieland is really what you make of it. If you hang around more liberal people, you'll be in a more liberal environment, and vice versa. The most conservative thing I encountered on campus was a hell fire preacher damning homosexuals, but we just laughed at him and moved on.
CantXTouchXTobi Thank you! What about people of this town!? I've heard a lot of things about Texans! It could be just a stereotype but I want to know. Thank you again.
***** Thank you ! In fact I keep hearing negative a comments about the culture & people there which are Not necessarily true. However, that what I keep hearing. Are people friendly ,& accepting? and What about the university itself, Professors, and the campus. What are the places I can visit for fun? Thank you again for your help .
Looking down comments, I run across John Clark, who seems to have been obsessed with negatives re TAMU. I would ask, are you real or fictional? I know of a fictional John Clark, but that character had knowledge, experience and cajones. C'mon John, you speak of that which you do not know. That's ignorance man! I've been there and done that early '70s. Please, get yourself informed and then communicate! You come across as the fool!
If from the outside looking in if a group doesn’t look like a cult the people are clearly not that close. The greatest friendships and the closest communities look terrifying to those who do not understand. I’m not an Aggie (at least not yet, we’ll see when I get done with high school) but even I can appreciate the tradition and the culture Texas A&M has built.
Um, excuse me, but as a marching band member, this offends me. We put on a heavy uniform and carry heavy instruments and if we sit down in the stands at a football game, we get in trouble. After less than an hour, we are dying to sit down so for the 12th man to remain standing for three hours was something that took strength and self control.
they need to put some more info on here like when the corp pulled their swords on texas tech fans and the time they hijacked a pull cart on train tracks and were going to waco to shell baylor but the texas rangers caught wind of it and they fell a tree over the tracks so the as had to go back to college station. as a huge A&M fan i say GIG EM AGS!
If I could wave my magic maroon wand and get three Aggie wishes they would be: 1 To win another football NC before I'm called home. 2 A once and for all end to "Squeezing" 3. This fool Baylor and the cannon story would just go away. It never happened. And if it did and gone to fruition, there's a good chance there would be no Corps of Cadets and probably no Texas A&M. Can you imagine the headlines in the Dallas Morning News or Houston Post? Aggies Shell Baylor with Stolen Howitzer Kill 47 Students. How you like to live that down the last 100 years? By the way the saber incident was at a SMU game at Kyle Field. I was there yelling don't do it at the top of my voice. Jim Whiteaker '70

Dye-Hard, I see what you did there, well played Sir. Welcome anytime at Aggieland and War Eagle/Gig'em!
Love our Aggies ! Coming from a former student of 86. Today a firefighter and a paramedic using those values to help others in need.

I do research on Texas A&M from time to time ever since the spring of 2017. This was interesting! ☺
I'm hopefully joining the Corps and going to A&M in a years time. I gotta step it up my senior year and make good grades and really devout myself to becoming better academically, physically, and morally so that I get accepted.
sarge958 How did that go?
I'm kinda curious now! Update?
Gig'em and thanks for fighting for our country. God Bless you and Texas A&M.
Big up to the Aggies! From a Phoenix!

Too bad I’m at the Galveston campus for my first year or else I would be a fish in I-1. Instead I’m going to have to a be a frog next year.
howard baxter as a current fish in the Corps I wish you luck! Its great and I don’t regret any moment of it.
