Cant believe they lost his recommendation twice. And they did not give him back pay for more than 40 years. It blows my mind. I am happy for him and the impact he has had in saving his countryman's lives. God bless you Davis.

My father & I took my Vietnam War veteran grandfather to Washington D.C. several years ago for the first time for him to see the Vietnam War Memorial Wall. He got drafted in the late 1960s & he got injured by shrapnel from a land mine (in addition to getting shot), so he got sent home & received a Purple Heart. However, 6 of his buddies didn't make it back home, so before the trip he made a list of all of their names & where they were located on the wall. As he found each on the wall, he got very emotional knowing that he managed to come home (though injured), get married, have 3 sons, & live another 50 years, but 6 of his friends didn't.

I am a tour guide here in DC and I have seen grown men sobbing at the Wall. It was very controversial when first built but is now considered holy ground for so many veterans. My groups are often middle school classes and I take extra time at the Memorial and I read some of the letters that have been left there. They are heartbreaking. The Memorial is so powerful it effects generations that have no connection to that war.
I'm glad your grandfather got to see it.

The first time it was lost ...it was probably racist; the second time it was Lost was probably to cover up the first time it was lost, and probably politically motivated. 😪😪😪😪🙄🙄🙄🙄
Thank you for your incredible service and honorable life. 🤗😍

Much respect to our president for honoring these heroes and not making it about himself, like the former guy did. I’m surprised he never awarded himself for the biggest bone spurs during the Viet Nam war
