- President Biden awarded the Medal of Honor on Thursday to Paris Davis, a retired U.S. Army colonel who rescued several injured soldiers amid heavy fighting in Vietnam in 1965. Davis was one of the first Black officers in the Army's Green Berets, and his nomination for the medal mysteriously vanished twice after he returned home from the war. The president called him "an incredible man" before bestowing the honor. Watch the White House ceremony.

Back in 1972 a Staff Sgt. in our company at Ft. Riley, Ks. was awarded one for his actions in Viet Nam. Back then he was to recieve $100 a month for the rest of his life. A salute to him and to you, Colonel.

I think I've meet maybe 20 MOHR's including John W. Finn. For extraordinary heroism distinguished service, and devotion above and beyond the call of duty. During the first attack by Japanese airplanes on the Naval Air Station, Kaneohe Bay, on 7 December 1941, Lt. (then A.C.O.M.) Finn promptly secured and manned a .50-caliber machine gun mounted on an instruction stand in a completely exposed section of the parking ramp, which was under heavy enemy machine-gun strafing fire.

Why didn’t you make him a general like Trump did to Colonel Davis when he got the medal of honor? That would have made what few days this man has left absolutely supreme! All it would take would be your signature and it would be done! No money No benefits just a wonderful gesture!
Col. Paris Davis was my Commander at Fort Devens Mass with the 10th SFG(A), less than a year after I arrived there the Post Commander relieved him of his command because of some drummed up charges that he stoled doughnuts from the PX. Now that I look back on this, I see this was a VERY ridiculous LIE, especially when he could have just ordered someone to bring him "Doughnuts" SF was very prejudice then. I was there from 1980 to 1983.

So happy he finally received his honor. It's just sad that racism delayed the MOH this American hero earned. I'm also happy the MOH was presented to him by President Biden, instead of the multiple times draft dodger.
Nothing more rewarding then getting a medal placed on you by a military idolizer, who really wanted to go to Nam but had to finish college where you finished in the top of his class on three scholarships.
Trump "got out" of serving in Nam and you know exactly how he did. Clinton got out of it too for similar reasons. Are you as angry at them as well?
This is an outrage, but for the honoree, he well deserves his time in the spotlight. Through no fault of the soldier’s we have a president who is a worthless coward hiding behind a criminal enterprise, aka: government. The president would no more stand a post than some alley cat. I’m sorry to ruin the MOH recipient’s day. God bless you my soldier, friend. No disrespect to you, nor to your honorable outfit, let alone those who died around you. I know you were so very gallant.
Sorry to say this in this story but even for me as a critical thinking human on NATO policy i, m shocked to read about all the problems inside the US Army , navy , airforce. Poisoning troops and their families by leaking and burning chemicals into the ground or drinking water , high level of cancer rates among pilots and groundcrew and personal that Works around missiles. Sick ess around barracks full of mold , high rate of suïcide and domestic violence under troops. 😢 How can an army win a war if they are killing their own troops in their own country? 😢 USS Theodoor Roosevelt 3 suïcides , USS George Washington both during their time in the Docks. The Russians are not the only enemy to your troops Fuel , coolant , and PFAS pollution Red Hill Hawaii , Pearl Harbor and 130 other militairy facilities with Bio Hazard problems caused by the Military.

Kaneshiro (posthumous), Specialist Five Dwight W. Birdwell, Specialist Five Dennis M. Fujii, and retired Major John J. Duffy. 58 years later
As a side note, things get lost, blown up, drown in the monsoon, and many other issues. There are also over 20,000 Purple Heart awards that lost the paperwork.
