when mikey talked about how he liked playing minecraft with friends it made me think of the pokesmp era… may it rest in peace and never be forgotten
Thank you, Mr. President
And before that the first time playing Minecraft series
They forgot it tho
I wish they never stopped
R.I.P ❤
This was a great idea. It’s good to see a Poketuber talk about another series than Pokémon haha
Right? It has that vibe of seeing your teacher outside of school
His videos are awesome on all channels
And some of them alienate their entire audience by admitting they never liked Pokemon and just wanted to build a platform so they could share their terrible political opinions. Not naming names, but that guy can get dunked on.
Mikey if you have not played Hades yet, I highly recommend it. It is a rouge like dungeon brawl and it is so amazing to play. The graphics and the art style is stellar and you never feel like you loose if you die because it gives you opportunity to talk to the amazing characters again. The music is probably the best music for any video game ever and it’s just such an amazing game
*pushes up my glasses* Uhm ackshually it’s a rogue lite not a rogue like
My brother loves hades Ive never played it but he has.
I must agree
But I fear I think he might think it’s not fun cause it’s difficult
hades is a masterpiece 🤌🏻
I think it's amazing that Mikey is able to talk about his interests that's not just pokemon. I've been watching him for a while, and I always have fun when he has content come out (also he got me back into pokemon, even when I was in a bad spot in life), so I think it's awesome that he can get to express himself and we get to see more about Mikey then just the guy who plays Pokemon. 😁
Mikey is so goofy and relatable and that’s the reason I love his videos!
same he is so fun to watch
Ya he is so good and funny and sleeps with drowzee

Facts
This comment is wonderful, and spot on for the video. It was so good seeing his excitement, and those big smiles.
This video feels so genuine. I mean it's not just about getting to know you better. It just doesn't feel forced! It doesn't feel like you are doing it because you have to. It is just awesome. 🔥
If you haven't played it already I recommend ghost of Tsushima it's based off the Mongol invasion of Japan and has a very clean combat system, there are multiple areas like legends arceus but have a lot more to do in each of them. The game is also beautiful, with the story being my favorite aspect.
I love ghost of Tsushima
Ghost of Tsushima is a masterpiece
I never played it.
"They were rated M ... and I was a child."
I remember playing the God of War games at 11 years old, and my dad even bought me Chains of Olympus for my PSP when it came. Great series of games. Honestly, I would say GoW would be one of my all time favorite games ever made.
Can’t wait for scarlet and violet you play through is gonna be awesome
Yeah
Same
Yeah
True
same and did you know that the days go by faster if you have something your waiting for
gotta say, I'm loving these more cozy, less scripted videos. It feels really calm and fun to watch over the high energy main channel videos. Keep it up man!
i agree
Can't wait for Mikey's Scarlet playthrough, definitely something to wait for. Btw, try the Persona series. That thing is a MASTERPIECE
Heck yeah it is.
If you enjoy games with a deep story and intriguing art design, I highly recommend playing Hollow Knight, it is one of my favorite games of all time and even though its really well-known and liked, I still feel its underrated especially compared to the some of the other well-known indie titles like Undertale or Stardew Valley
Hollow knight is epic, i played over 1k hours.
Celeste too but it's platforming is much harder
I'm not sure if you've ever played Okami or not but the art style is very unique as it's done in watercolor.
Okami is my fav game of all time. So unique, and the art is divine. Also playing as a wolf is amazing. Okami was heavily influenced by Zelda as well, so I imagine Mikey would thoroughly enjoy it.
Seconding this recommendation, Okami is such a good game.
Okami is amazing!
Okami is seriously an amazing game. Definitely in my top 5 games of all time.
1 detail I love is how you have to "break the fourth wall" in order to progress AKA using the brush techniques (using it on switch with the touch screen is stellar)
If Mikey did a playthrough of Tears of the Kingdom, I could die happy.
Same but with kingdom hearts instead
@@PokePrince14812 ....how about no
I'm joking please don't kill me
@@Ditto.007 ok
I love how Mikey explains why he loves open world games where you can make more decisions, I guess that's part of the reason why he loves Legends: Arkoos so much.
I am curious whether he's played Genshin Impact or not, considering that is also an open world game with cartoon-ish graphics.
Well I mean he sponsored it once so probably
no
I agree that Mario 64 is rough around the edges, but the movement is so fantastic when you get a grasp on it. It’s wild how tight the controls can be for a groundbreaking 3D platformer.
Yay another person who agrees with me
I commented and someone replied, and I quote, “sthu Mario 64 is literally cheeks”
🙄
I love jrpgs, both turn based and action rpgs. I can highly recommend the persona series (especially 4 and 5), dragonquest (especially 8 and 11), the entire tales of series (especially tales of arise).
I love persona, p3 is my personal favourite though
Same
Same
The first actual vid that isn't just explaining the channel, this is gonna be good!
Edit: It was very good, it kinda felt like a podcast!
Far Cry Primal is my favorite video game. It's an open-world story game with an amazing story and graphics. I love that it's based in the stone age, so you only have primitive weapons to work with and you're up against primal animals. You can tame those animals and use them in combat. The combat system is absolutely amazing and probably my favorite combat system of any game. Please play it :)
1:31 I couldn’t survive Jabu-Jabu’s Belly since the enemies did SO much damage and the game is literally designed around you always getting all the Heart Pieces immediately with no effort
Absolute pleasure hearing your thoughts on non-Pokemon stuff and this was one of the things I was most looking forward to as you came back from sabbatical. I'm excited to see SV of course but if this hints at a TotK playthrough on this channel I'm all for it.
Also I've given Astroneer a try but I didn't quite get it... Your recommendation makes me wanna try again! Thanks for sharing!
Red dead 2 is the best game ever
So glad he mentioned Immortals: Fenyx Rising! It's super underrated due to BotW, so I'm happy that it's getting some exposure!
Finally someone mentions it!
Haven't played it but I love the idea and I'll eventually play it! Plus Ubisoft released it silently during a period where it was going through a lot of controversy 😂
Is it on pc?
@@Godkill69 yus
He’s actually mentioned it before in one of the challenge videos with PM7. I was playing it at the time and it made me randomly happy to hear him liking it then!
An indie game I'd recommend is Hades, it has a LOT of stuff to do (mainly side quests and main story points)
The story is about you, Zacreus trying to escape from hell to find your mother Persephone (it's based on Greek mythology)
Also, agree with breath of the wild, very fun game!
I'm really happy you branched out this way! I hope you do more videos about other series! Keep pokemon as your main probably but we love hearing your thoughts on ALL games!
Yesterday I caught a shiny grottle
Congratulations
Nice :)
Nice! What game did you catch it in?
Nice
I have 2 (technically 3) game recommendations. Since you mentioned 2 space games where you build bases, I highly recommend the 2 games in the Subnautica series. They're games where you crash land on an alien planet and try to get out. The second one is different though, you're there to uncover secrets about an organization. The other one is The Henry Stickmin Collection. I highly recommend it, even though it's very different than the other games that you said. It's a game with MANY endings and I highly recommend you get all of them. It's easy, funny, fun and references many games.
CANT ECHO SUBNAUTICA ENOUGH!
I second the Henry Stickmin recommendation. I love those games so much!
Sub nautical is great
I think he would like subnautica
Hey, i said the same thing lol
I was so excited to see a video where mikey just talks to us on a somewhat personal level. I love the new energy and vibe youre giving out mikey. Also i gotta check out some of these games. You reminded me i never finished spiderman on ps4. I never played pheynx rising. Never really heard about it after it realeased really. I also love open world but goal oriented games so this list has given me alot to look into. I appreciate you and your content. Keep it up my man🙏
Not gonna lie I think I'm gonna love this channel even more than your others. For one, while I love Pokemon, I have a lot of different phases where I like watching a lot of different things, and I think mixing your personality, which I like watching, with those other games sounds like a fun as hell mix. For two, I like longer form content a lot of the time, as I love just putting on videos or series on in the background when I'm doing schoolwork or playing games, and from what I remember of your first video, that's exactly what this channel is. Excited to see what we get here, keep on keepin on.
It's not exactly in the same category of anything else you talked about, but I highly HIGHLY recommend Hades. It's gotta be in my top 5 favorite games ever made it's so good
Fire game (pun intended)
Hades is amazing (hence my pfp)
I remember watching this man play Rocket League 6 years ago, and now it's my main game, so I'll take this moment to thank MandJTV for the amazing content.
Michael mentioning the Elephant Scene in It Takes Two.... Brought up some traumatic memories...
"Just Cause" is the best pun title ever and I don't think anything will ever top it in that respect
Coming from a person who liked the vast majority of the games you said i recommend the Xenoblade series because it’s just a very fun action rpg game that takes many hours to complete it and find all the small details. Side note you do not have to play them in order but playing them in order will make more sense for the last one.
Agreed
100%. The only games that have ever made me cry, as the story is unbelievably amazing
Xenoblade is easily one of my favorite series of all time
Which one is your favourite?
@@liamdeegan8619 My favourite?
Music from this series has occasionally been in your videos so you might have already played it, but I'd recommend the Xenoblade series. It's an action RPG series that has beautiful areas to explore (and you're rewarded for exploring them with experience) and the stories in each of the games are incredible as well.
I was about to say the same! I think his editor picks the music (I'm really into video game OSTs so I find their good taste in soundtracks a huge bonus for the videos), so it's possible he hasn't played a Xenoblade game yet. Based on the repeated love of RPGs/open world style/good stories throughout the video, it seems like a perfect game to try. The only downside might be the occasional difficulty of the battle mechanics and quite grindy gameplay, based on what he mentioned, but otherwise the worlds and story are amazing!
Same.
Honestly though xenoblade isn’t my favorite game but *DANG* is it good
@@colour_fall3851 I have xenoblade 3. It’s really fun, but in my opinion it has too many cutscenes so I stopped playing.
I’d recommended X specifically since he likes the whole exploration of big open worlds and world building, which X does the best at from the series. Also has amazing music and the skells are just.. awesome lol
14:59 and it fundamentally changes the gameplay so you can finally have 2 items on you
Love the relaxed vibe I'm getting. You're not so stressed and it shows. Hope to see more of it. Also are you recording or streaming live for S & V? Be safe and don't stress Mikey!
Any and all Lego games are my childhood. Marvel, DC, of course Star Wars, and whatever else was at my daycare was what I played. So nostalgic
I looooove the Lego games!! The first one I ever played was Lego Batman, and I got hooked instantly.
Your indie game picks made me think of a couple of my favorites: Slime Rancher and Subnautica. They're colorful goal oriented but still exploration based. A little bit of story, good world building. They're pretty different style wise but I think you might really like those~!
Agreed. I love subnautica, and it’s hilarious to see my brothers play through it as well
Subnautica is great!
Preach
What is your opinion on slime rancher two?
No mans sky too
I appreciate the fact that you’re talking about other things you enjoy, I found this really interesting and intrigued to try out some of these games! Thanks Michael!
Im glad you mentioned horizon. Zero dawn is the best story I've ever seen in a video game it's absolutely amazing. The worldbuilding is superbly done the way exploring and getting more of the data points can add so much more to it
I love the line " I couldn't hit a Borad side of a barn with a bazook "
So happy that Astroneer is getting mentioned here! It's so fun to play and is barely talked about so I'm very happy that you enjoyed it!
His enjoyment is so palpable at 16:40 I love it
I play and love all the games you mentioned! My partner and I are currently playing Grounded with friends and it reminds us a lot of It Takes Two mixed with the base building in Satisfactory. I don’t like fighting, so I’m the one building the bases and cooking food while the others go off and adventure and progress the story. It’s a great group game and highly recommend it!
Based on your love for open-world, make your own path games, you're probably gonna LOVE scarlet and violet
Can’t wait!
The phoenix wright series are awesome! Totally their own thing and the newer ones are great! my husband and I play them together because we love the series so much!
Mikey I don't know if you've played it, but Fire Emblem Three Houses is a fantastic game with an amazing story, along with the strategy that most Fire Emblem games involve. Seems right up your alley! It is three years old but a great game nonetheless.
Three hopes is pretty good to!
@@thereddishking Agreed, but three houses was next level
I'm not head over heels in love with Breath of the Wild like a lot of people are, in fact, I never really got into it. However, funny enough, when Tears of the Kingdom came out, everything clicked for me, and now I consider that to be one of my favorite games of all time.
I played It Takes Two with my older brother earlier this year. We LOVED IT.
It was so much fun, really funny, and was super interesting, as I have never been in a relationship, while my brother has been in several, so it was a unique experience for both of us.
We were also disturbed by the elephant. It's very uncomfortable, and you feel so bad about it.
Gosh I still remember that claw machine which was the most realistic thing about the game.
@@gameswithpeachcord7498 I remember us getting it really fast, but we didn't want to. We felt like such horrible people, which is the point.
If there was an option to just not complete that part of the game, I would say yes
The fact that you did this better than shorts creators who do this everyday is just- amazing.
Great video. Yes Pokemon is my favorite franchise, but I have gotten bored of just pokemon. So I have recently started watching different youtubers and playing games like subnautica and the horizon series. So I love this video, glad you added this channel, and cant wait for more! Also side note, i found it funny because how I like to enjoy video games is literally like you lol. Specifically needing tasks and just wanting to have a good time.
Loved the video! It’s awesome to get to know other games you’re into!
One game that I cannot recommend enough is a game called CrossCode (which is what my PFP is from). It is an RPG set within an MMORPG and it has one of the most gripping stories I've played, incredible puzzle design and fantastic music and visuals. It is my all time favourite game ever.
Great video
You haven't even finished it
Yeah that was what i was going to say
Nah u haven’t finished it yet
I did
Game suggestion: Kingdom Hearts series. Primarily the core games 1, 2 and 3. Although there are many others as well. Feel like it meets a lot of your requirements, graphics, heavy in depth story, fun combat etc. my favourite series of all time. The story can get a bit confusing, but it’s a lot of fun and you can sink into the universe very easily. Basically final fantasy meets Disney 😅
Love how the BG music went from
"We Shop Theme" by Schlatt and Lud to the "Wii Shop Theme"
completely agree on your take on the 3d mario platformers. the first one i played was odissey(i played like 1 hour of galaxy a couple of years prior but i didnt understand anything of the game lol) and it's just so beautiful. mario's movement is SO seemless, the platforming is fun and rewarding and the game looks great too. if i just played the other ones before odissey,i could probably understand the people that say that odissey isnt the best one,but i feel like that exactly because i started on the most recent one, trying the older ones is HARD
This video was *clap clap* incredible and I think that if you like games with good stories and not a really high level of difficulty alongside almost cartoonish, cute graphics you have to play Hollow knight. The story is moving and intriguing and it’s overall really fun to find new abilities and skills throughout the game together with slowly piecing together the lore too.
I was looking for this comment and am happy I found it so soon
this is true but there are some parts of the game that are rly hard but theyre optional anyway
hollow knight is actually pretty difficult. i still LOVE it but if you go in exspecting to beat a boss in 2 or 3 tries that won't be the case. its bacially a like a mix of cup head and dark souls but maybe easier? i haven't played cuphead but i think its easier then that...slightly
point being it does have a high level of difficulty. i don't think ive seen someone say its not hard. most painful thing for me tho was me feeling like if i didn't explore every little nook and cranny i felt like i was gonna miss something
Love Hollow Knight. Let's all petition to make Mikey play it. Because man, it is truly the 2D Breath of the Wild of all time.
I wouldn’t say 2d botw as it’s a metroidvania but it is incredible (music is too) and we must start this petition
Listening to you talk always just gives me such joy
1:13 You said you haven’t played Twilight Princess, but I truly recommend it. It is not open world, but it has a free exploration quality (for instance Hyrule Plains
Breath of the Wild is amazing. Loved how Legends Arceus seemed to take Inspiration of it. Also BotW cutscenes were beautiful.
You should put a Tears of the Kingdom playthrough here. Bet a lot of your followers will like it.
congrats on the win in the J M cup. hope you have fun with scarlet and violet
Same
I was wondering about this 😊 love that you made this
When Mikey mentioned astroneer my face actually lit up. That is my all time fav game and to see it get recognition makes me so happy
Love the video man! Have you tried any of the fire emblem games before? I feel like 3 Houses is really appealing to new players, and it’s a ton of fun! But if you aren’t a fan of strategy games, then I understand haha
thanks for telling us about this it was nice to see your opinions on games other than pokemon
Was expecting a tier list video but this was much more enjoyable
I love that somebody else loved Immortals Fenyx Rising. Game was definitely a sleeper and I had so much fun playing it as the first game on my PS5
love it! we need more non-pokémon related gaming content!
One game I highly recommend you play, if you haven't already, is Shadow of the Colossus. That game is a lot of fun because, despite it being a boss rush, it creates such a sense of scale in having to climb and defeat these titans. And each one is a puzzle to figure out how to beat and diversifies how you handle each one.
Definitely agree with that one. It’s a really cool open world kind of game, only thing is the world is almost empty save the bosses, but thats part of the charm
I Love This Type Of Videos From You !
I was surprised to see that you consider just cause 3 to be one of your favorites, i’ve played through it several times, it’s just do addictive. I truly love it
0:50 seconds into the video, and I already know this is going to be great, because that is also my favourite game of all time.
Yeah botw is great, easily one of my favorite games of all time
I would say the xenoblade franchise is my favourite selection of games ever, they’re pretty similar to botw (especially the first game) in that they are open world action jrpgs except xenoblade has an incredible story - something botw was lacking a bit. Games like FE3H, Triangle strategy, octopath traveler, live a live, PLA, Persona 5, etc (basically games with good stories) always entice me though. The horizon games are definitely on my list of games I have to play, it seems really fun
I absolutely ADORE mandjTv talking about other games except Pokémon I would love more videos
13:35 and it has Richard Schiff!!
I was expecting a tier list but this was pretty good too
Based on the games you picked, I'd recommend Sonic Frontiers when it comes out November 8th. It's a mostly open world action game with engaging combat. You sure can go fast.
Hinestly i did not play half of the games you mention, but i gotta say, this is probably the most genuinly good video ive seen, i just put my phone aside and started playing on my xbox, and i just enjoyed it, so thx mikey, i honestly loves this video
I love how laid back this video is! Since you liked Astroneer and Satisfactory, I recommend Terratech! It's a cool survival sandbox game with quests where you build vehicles!
This video is amazing. I might have found my clone in you. I have also never enjoyed difficult games and just wanna have fun usually. This video definitely gave me a few recommendations.
I can’t guarantee you’d enjoy it, but the Pikmin series is pretty open and involves a lot of strategy. I don’t know it’s definitely worth trying since a new entry is on the way.
Two of my favourite non-Pokemon games are Subnautica and Slime Rancher. They have that fun creative aspect to them and open-exploration that you mentioned for the first several games but neither of them lack direction either. They're also both very colourful and stylistic as well. I think they'd be a good fit for you. Don't know if you've played them but I highly recommend them if you haven't!
Mikey: I like games that are free world, and not only Pokémon
Legends Arkoos: How you doin’
Based on how you said you like super open games for exploration but also games where you have a goal, i'd recommend trying the Xenoblade Chronicles series. It's only on the nintendo switch, and it's a very large open zone rpg game, but it's also very story driven, and the story is very well written overall, so I think you'd enjoy that based on what you said in this video!
1 is on Wii, 3DS, and Switch
Then there is X which is currently exclusive to the Wii U
2 and 3 are Switch Exclusive
@@allingbrodniak8819 Well yea, I know about the numbered trilogy not just being on switch, but switch is the best way to play all of them, and I honestly forgot Xenoblade X
@@zachapack4624 I find that hilarious cause X is my favorite lol
can't wait until the scarlet playthrough! I bet it's going to be awesome. all of you're playthroughs are hreat, and that one will be awesome!
yes his playthroughs are pretty *hreat*
My childhood games were the angry birds games all of them....classic , space , star wars , friends just loved them all
Here's some games I suggest, the two Subnautica games are fantastic, pretty open world, you have goals, build bases, it's just fun. I also suggest outer wilds, you go into space and end up getting stuck in a loop, you go and explore and each time you learn new things it gets saved into your ship, it's a really interesting game. I also suggest the dark souls series, idk if you would like that series or not though because it's super hard and mostly combat. Hollow knight, its a indie, 2d sidescroller, idk if you would like it or not but I absolutely love it, it's so good, your a bug, in a bug world, and you have to stop this infection that's spreading. Lots of combat
very interesting! Would love to see more videos like these.
Really fun video, I love hearing gamers hype up their favorites! This really made me want to finally play Breath of the Wild and Horizon Zero Dawn. I've had them for ages!
3:49 the Endless Now…
Your point on astroneer,, I believe I have the same feeling when it comes to games. If there aren't milestones or goals to work towards and it is open-ended and just tells you to "go do stuff" I can't get into it
Astral Chain has been something I really liked based on the trailer alone, but I never got around to playing it unfortunately. Do you guys like that game?
Yeah, its a great game. Had lots of fun with it. Beautiful graphics, nice soundtracks and an interesting battle mechanic. The battle mechanic can be overwhelming sometimes, because you play as two characters simultaneously. You get used to it, however.
Not sure if it fits your vibes, but one of my all time favorites is persona 5 royal. Great story. Fun turn based combat. Can easily sink 100 hours in! Super fun!
My husband is actually playing this game again after getting it for the switch (played multiple times on PS4). My favourite Persona game though is Persona 4 and can't wait for it to come to the switch in a few months.
I’ve always wanted to know what your favourite non-Pokémon games were! Good to know you’re into Botw and hype for Totk! Since you mentioned how colour is very important to you in games, I’d highly recommend playing Wind Waker HD, it’s on Wii U but you could probably emulate it with Cemu on pc if you didn’t wanna go through the process of finding a copy, and I know the eshop situation is all weird now so you’d probably have to add money to your Nintendo account via switch then buy the game on Wii u with a linked Nintendo account. Whichever way works for you I’d highly recommend it!!!
Another fun thing about just cause is in the 4th (Mabey the others idk) the cars have radios that have radio djs and if you drive into a tunnel the audio gets all staticy
We get to know more games which is goooood!
Such a good line up of games!! If you’re into that Open world aesthetic I’d recommend the Arkham series. It’s essentially the basics of Spider-Man. The combat is pretty simple and the games aren’t overly challenging. You really feel powerful gliding around the city as Batman, taking down thugs. Just some food for thought 🙂
I just finished arkham asylum ten minutes ago
MandJTV Extra is the perfect place for Mikey to upload non-Pokemon related MandJTV videos
